Third POV.
"What do you need that book for?" Leila asked her sister after everyone had left, leaving the two behind so that they could have some minutes alone.
"How can a book which was written years before we were even born consist of our names and how our childhood life was? No, even now!" Elana said with curious eyes.
"I don't know either but grandpa had just told us that that book was so important to our family. He had also said that if that book fell into the wrong hands, everything about us would be destroyed and we both would be in great danger," Leila said after a few moments.
"Now that you have said that, he did say something like that. But I don't understand why it would cause danger and not our entire family," Elana said as she looked at the wall deeply as she was thinking too hard.
"Is that the reason why you asked Josiah to give you the book?" Leila asked as she looked at her sister.
Shaking her head, Elana said, "The reason why I asked for the book is because I want to see whether what Josiah said is true. Whether he learned about our secret through the book and not anyone else. Also, if the book is definitely with him, how can we be sure that it is safe? What if it got lost or our enemies hear about it and steal it?" Elana explained with her eyes on Leila.
Even though she spoke seriously, her eyes had a bit of softness in them.
"I had not thought of it in that way. Honestly, my mind was just wondering whether that kind of book exists and if yes, how did the person who wrote it know how we will be living our lives?" Leila said calmly.
Hearing what her younger sister said, Elana could not help herself but also had the same thoughts as Leila.
"We need to find the book before anyone else knows about it. Especially the rogues. We all know that the rogues are always loyal to their leader since they always want to destroy the packs since they had been banned from their packs," Elana said, making Leila nod her head in agreement.
"If they do find out then we would be in great danger. The rogues and the god of darkness do not know that I also have some powers and different gifts. That is our secret weapon. If they get to know each other I am sure that they would start planning to attack both of us or kidnap us to be their experiments," Elana said.
Although Elana's words may sound wrong and selfish, no one could deny the fact that she was the werewolves' secret weapon in the awaited battle. Even if Leila was the strongest between the two of them and the fact that Elana had given up on her dark side which would have been considered relatively stronger than ordinary wolves or even the alphas, she still had some power in her making her stronger than any warrior.
If Leila was given a chance to practice and learn fighting since she was a child like Elana but since she didn't, she was a little bit weaker than the strength she was supposed to have. Nonetheless, she was on par with Elana's strength at the moment.
"Don't you sometimes wish that you were me? Like being born the last born instead of being first? That way, you would have been the strongest of any kind in this world," Leila asked her sister since she couldn't believe that Elana was not jealous of her gifts from the moment she found out the truth.
Elana was shocked hearing those words coming from Leila but she did not get angry at her or even snap at her since she remembered that Leila's darkness was now free unlike when it was always locked up. To her, that was the darkness' question and not her sister's.
"What are you talking about? Both of us were given different gifts. We are all unique in our ways, thus you should stop talking nonsense," Elana said calmly.
"I am not talking nonsense, I am asking a question! Although we both have different gifts, I am par with you in terms of strength and currently I haven't even started practicing. So tell me, how can you not be jealous of me? If I were you, I would have been jealous of you," Leila said.
Elana shook her head before saying, "So what if we are at par with each other's strength? You are myself and there is no way I would ever feel jealous of you. In fact, I am even proud of you. At least now there is no way I would be living in fear that you have been bullied or something but have happened to you since you can't protect yourself."
Hearing her sister's words, Leila found herself crying. She couldn't bring herself to look at Elana since was embarrassed and did not want to see how her sister was disappointed in her.
"Actually, if I didn't get rid of my darkness, both of our strengths would still be at par with each other. Thus, since I could get rid of it, my strength is a bit weaker than yours," Elana said with a smile on her face.
Leila knew that Elana's last sentence was supposed to make her feel calm and not be filled with guilt but still she couldn't get rid of the guilt in her.
“No matter how successful you become in the future, all you win since you are the strongest of all, just know that your big sister still has your back. No, it is like I would always be your partner in the field and in battle or even better your subordinate,” Elana said with a laugh making Leila wonder whether it was a resort of pride that she would be one of what she called herself or was it out of it.
Despite whether it was true or not, it only made Leila cry harder than before.
“Hei, can you stop being a crybaby,” Elana said as she wiped her sister’s tears with the back of her palm.
“I have something to tell you.”
