My Lycan King Mate Chapter 29

Third POV. Josiah frowned as he had not imagined that would be the case. Now, he understood why Leila said she believed him yet looked at him in suspicion. Looking at the two girls and feeling everyone's eyes on him, he didn't feel so comfortable as he knew that he was in trouble since he knew that they would not believe him despite what he said. He cursed inwardly as he never thought that his flawless lie would lead him into another deep of shit. He looked at Elvis' daughter with hatred. "As I said, my adoptive parents found it in the basket that I was laid in as an infant after being picked up," he said calmly after a while. "Does that mean that you are a garbage that was picked up out of the trash? Or was it, dustbin?" Marcus said mockingly as he sized the old man. Josiah glared at him since he had never thought that the young man would be so arrogant and oppose him. How he wished that he didn't owe anyone anything making him not go through the humiliation he was in. Josiah had thought several times of telling the truth but as he was just about to speak it loudly, he could hear the voice in his head warning him. There was no need for anyone to tell him that the person had interfered with his head. Thinking of all these, Josiah gritted his teeth as he wondered whether the young gods in front of him failed to invade in mind because of that presence but he didn't dare to think any further cause it would only lead him to have a severe headache. All he was grateful for was that the sisters and Marcus did not succeed in evading his brain. After all, he knew that the two mates had tried their best and were unsuccessful since he had felt it but when it came to Leila, he didn't feel anything to know whether she was successful or not but from her question about the book, he could tell that it was just unsuccessful like the rest. "Whether I am a garbage or not, picking up from the road, trash or dustbin, I can't see how it concerns you while you aren't one of the people who raised me nor are you my benefactor," he answered coldly as his eyes flashed as he would have killed Marcus if he was closer to him. Marcus clenched his fist and was about to retort when Elana pinched his arm making him turn his attention to his mate. With questioning eyes, he raised his eyebrows at her since he wanted to know why he was interrupted. "Let him be. Furthermore, I don't think that it is good to judge people because of where they come from. Most people aren't as lucky as we are and that's why grandma sent us here to save humankind together with her creation therefore, can you please stop before she gets what you have said or doing making her angry," Elana said softly and in a low tone but Aiden and Leila still heard her. Hearing Elana mentioning the moon goddess, Marcus panicked a little bit before calming down as he convinced himself that the moon goddess wasn't around and there was no way that whatever he said would get to her. Leila chuckled and she saw Marcus' fearful look but she also knew how her grandmother was when she was angry and when it came to her creation. "How sure are we that you are saying the truth?" Elana said after thinking about the book and his explanation of how he got it. She wanted to confirm from the moon goddess, but she also knew that her grandmother would only say that she was still not worthy of going back to the godly realm and having more powers. She became restless as she didn't know how she would test Josiah to know whether what he said was the truth or not. Josiah had been silently standing as he hoped that he would mess up anything once more. Knowing that the more he explained the more he shot himself in the foot, he opted to stay silent but he couldn't refuse to answer thus he played along with his explanation. "I wish I could replay the scene when that happened so that you can all believe me," Josiah said with a sad tone to make it more believable because he had realized that they were all doubting him. Even his childhood and old friends. Elana and Leila felt a bit guilty and sorry for him since they were the reason behind what he looked like currently and also reminded him that he was an orphan. They could understand the feeling more than anyone else. How it felt to need your parents so close to you but they were just far away living a good and happy life without them. They were reminded of their father whom they didn't have a single idea of where he was. The two sisters looked at each other and communicated with their eyes before turning their attention and gazing back at Josiah. "I don't know who my biological parents are, why they had the book and also why I can read the strange language when the others clearly can't," Josiah said as he looked deep into Elana's eyes. Even though Elana felt uncomfortable with his eyes staring at her in such a manner, she did not voice it out at all. Josiah then looked at Marcus and then Leila. Deep inside he was satisfied with himself as he saw the guilt and sorry look in their eyes. He wanted to kidnap them emotionally till they forgot what they were asking. Moreover, even after replaying his previous words countless times since he couldn't believe that he had thought everything on his own, he still found it difficult to believe it. His excuses were flawless and would make people take pity on him. The elders' eyes turned to look at Elana while Aurora and her dad looked at Leila. The old king frowned a bit as he saw Leila’s complexion. The elders who were standing were already tired and they prayed silently that they may be able to leave the place as soon as possible. “Any more questions? Or would you like to know more about what is written in the book?”
