Third POV.
With that said, the moon goddess left leaving them shocked.
“How can she leave after just saying that?” Elana shouted after realising what had happened.
“Let's leave it there. She is already gone and there is no way she would come back here no matter how many times we summon her,” Leila said, making the others nod in agreement.
“So what are we going to do about Josiah? Should we do as she said or?” Marcus asked but deep down he already knew the answer since he knew the two sisters more than anyone else.
“No,” they shouted.
“Won't she be angry at us?” He asked nervously. He was afraid of what would happen to them when the moon goddess was angry. He understood that they were in her territory and the fact that they were a family didn't help at all.
“Yeah, she will be but what does she expect?” Leila said as she rolled her eyes.
“As for Josiah, I will make him pay for the slap. Even though he isn't the one who hurt me, he is the main reason I was injured,” Elana said with a smirk on her face and her eyes shining brightly.
“You won't do anything to him,” a loud voice said.
Marcus was so terrified but Leila and Elana just rolled their eyes.
“Well, I will do as I want. I think I should tell grandpa that you slapped me because of a human,” Elana said calmly but one could feel the threat in it.
Gritting her teeth, the moon goddess left in anger and shut them out since she didn't want to hear anything they say or what they would do next.
“Guess she can also be creepy,” Marcus said after the icy atmosphere disappeared.
“I never knew you could be such a coward,” Leila said with a laugh.
“Well, you can't blame me when you have such a terrifying grandmother,” Marcus said in defence.
“Will that blackmail you said work on her?” Marcus asked.
“Yes. Grandpa hates human beings with his entire being. How will grandma explain that? I am sure that if grandpa hears of it, he will get so angry to the point where he can get rid of her creation or as a punishment, he would ask her to finish off her creation,” Elana said seriously.
“I just wonder who Josiah really is to make grandma have such a reaction,” Leila asked as she thought of what the reason might be.
“I think it will be very difficult for us to get rid of Josiah or even make things hard for him. Our only chance is if he fails to come with the book but from granny's attitude, she might help him get the book so as to avoid getting in trouble with us,” Elana analysed.
“Are you trying to say that she was here and did everything possible to convince us to trust Josiah because she knows of the deal?”Marcus asked, making Elana nod in agreement.
“If that’s the truth, then she doesn’t know where the book is and so does Josiah. He was just coming up with an excuse to make us believe how he knows about our lives,” Leila said after some time.
“Yes. Since they both failed to find the book, she thought that if she convinces us to trust him, even without the book Josiah will continue being involved with us and being respected. If we agreed with her, we would have to come up with a justification as to why we chose to trust him even when he lied about having the book and knowing about us. This would make us the bad guys in the eyes of the elders. They might even stop supporting and trusting us,” Elana said what she thought.
Hearing this, they had mixed feelings.
“I don’t understand. Why would grandmother tend to that to us? Does she think that the lycans can’t help us in practice or in the battle? Or is it that she is afraid that when the battle occurs, most of the lycans and werewolves might perish?” Leila asked.
“I think you guys should just try understanding her. I am sure there is a reason behind what she did and said. What if there is a mole in our midst and she wants to protect us?” Marcus asked.
“Well, where was she when mom was killed? Where was she during the last battle? She hasn’t protected us enough so how do you expect me to believe that she is doing it to protect us?” Leila asked as she was confused.
“If there is a mole in our midst as you claim, we will figure out how to deal with him or her. For now, we need to deal with Josiah. If he is sincere about helping us out and he isn’t an enemy then regardless of our attitude towards him, he will still remain a friend and not a foe. Therefore, if he won’t come with the book we will do as we had said, if he does come with it, then will figure out what to do. We have to take precautions in everything we do and everyone we trust,” Elana told them.
Leila remained silent as she wondered what she could do to evade everything that was happening. Now, she knew the reason why she was being hunted down. Deep down, she had a solution but she felt guilty and didn’t wish to do it.
“What are you thinking about?” Elana asked.
“How did you feel when you got rid of your darkness?” Leila asked.
“Are you thinking about the darkness because of what grandmother said? Please don't. Even though we never wanted to have it in us, it is our birthright and us,” Elana said.
“Says the person who got rid of hers,” Leila said as she rolled her eyes.
“I know I should be the least person to tell you that but you have a good relationship with your darkness and I know you care about its feeling,” Elana said, making Leigh divert her gaze from her.
“We will be having a war just because they think we should be on their side and not grandma.” Leila said in a low tone.
“No, that’s not the case. I will tell you about it another day since I am too tired,” Marcus said.
