Chapter 5 (Becky's POV)
Ok.
I might have gotten myself into a huge mess.
And there was no way out of it.
When Rachel suggested I would be her replacement until after her honeymoon I agreed gladly, because let's face it, I need a job and something to get my mind off everything that's going on.
But when Rachel described her boss I had this picture of an old round guy with an always happy face.
Wroooong!
Aron was not old at all, probably just a few years older than me, and ladies, he is one hot male specimen.
Tall with light brown hair that almost looks blond, eyes that are neither brown nor green but something between those colors.
Muscles that even his jeans and a button down shirt can't hide, and a smile to make a lady drop her panties right away.
Thank God I am not wearing them.
Call it professional deformation.
You see, if I wasn't shooting for lingerie, panty lines were a no go, so I adapted to life without panties.
Today I was glad but cursed myself at the same time for my lack of underwear.
You are probably asking yourself why.
I explained the good side already, but the bad side was, nothing held back my wetness at the sight of Aron's panty dropping smile.
But I wasn't here to date my boss even if he had that role only temporarily.
But there was no place for romance in my life at the moment.
I had to do my job efficiently so I would get a good letter of recommendation and could start building my life towards something normal.
So I dropped down at my desk and started answering the phone.
Job really wasn't bad and I kind of enjoyed it.
But that dark Adonis of my boss didn't want to leave my thoughts.
I finally managed to get him partly of my mind when suddenly he opened his office door with his trademark grin firmly in place
Like what the hell is wrong with you man? How can someone be so happy all the time?
I've been in his presence only a few hours but he keeps that smile firmly in place.
And let me tell you something.
Whoever is so happy all the time, hides demons deep under that exterior.
"Hey Becky. Are you doing fine out here?"
I matched his grin with a small smile.
"Sure am boss. Thank God I know Rachel like myself so it's not hard to find things around here."
Why is he still smiling?
Gaaah his happiness is driving me crazy!
Don't get me wrong.
I am not jealous or anything like that.
But it's just impossible to be happy all the time.
Fine. I might be overreacting. I have known the guy for a few hours only. Maybe he is just having a good day.
"Ok. So, I was wondering if you want to grab lunch with me?"
Now I have a problem.
I was bad at these things.
I never knew when someone was just friendly, and when the person was flirting with me.
But I guess either way would be ok in this situation.
I can't lie.
He was hot and I definitely felt sparks when we touched.
But what I really needed right now was a friend, and from what Rachel has told me Aron was a good friend.
So to hell with all my doubts.
"Yeah sure. Would love to. Just let me grab my things."
I grabbed my purse, keys and phone and we were on our way.
"So Becky tell me something about yourself?"
A nervous chuckle escaped me.
I know people believe that anyone in my line of work is a self absorbed person.
But I never was that way and never will be.
I hated speaking about myself honestly.
"Don't you know enough about me from Rachel and Mason already?"
I kept my voice neutral even though I could feel my nervousness.
"Sure I know many things, but I want to hear it from you."
Ok. Here goes nothing.
"Ok. So I grew up here in London, I have an older brother Mason, and you could say Rachel is more like a sister than a friend since we practically grew up together. I finished my business and psychology degree but ended up modeling. It all started in my last year of college when we had a fundraiser and I had this idea of people making their own designs and we students could show them to everyone on the day of the event. It went amazing and someone saw me and approached me with an idea of becoming a model. One year later my career took off and I was traveling the world, making a name for myself. And the rest is history."
He gave me a kind smile and my frozen walls started melting.
"I can see you loved your work. I know a bit about what went down when you ended your career so I won't continue to poke into a wound. So another subject. Any pets?"
I laughed at his sudden change of the subject.
"Not so fast, mister. What about you? Tell me something about yourself?"
If I wasn't looking I would miss the way his smile dropped for a moment, but he recovered fast.
In its place a fake smile was showing now.
"Not much to tell Becky. Born and raised in London. Finished my computer and business degree and soon after college started with Code hack."
He made it sound simple and boring but this man in front of me was anything but boring.
"What about your parents?"
And for the first time since I met him, his smile dropped completely.
"Not in the picture. Never were."
With those words and a cold stare aimed in the distance somewhere he picked up his pace and I had to practically run after him.
What the hell just happened?
