Chapter 3 (Becky's POV)
Home sweet home.
I never knew, coming home after a disastrous few weeks can feel so freaking good.
And you know what's even better?
Seeing two of your favorite people waiting for you with big grins on their faces, and weird as it is, for the first time, they are not arguing.
Must be love.
I practically ran to hug Mason and Rachel.
I knew there was a lot to talk about, but right now the only thing I needed was their love and support.
And they delivered big time.
Rachel almost strangled me, that's how tight her hug was, and Mason, the kind of brother that he was, didn't pass up a chance to ruin my hair just like old times.
Like I said. It's good to be home.
We picked up my luggage well, technically Mason picked it up while me and Rachel gushed over each other about how good we look, how happy Rachel seems, how tanned I am, bla bla bla.
You get the point.
But once we all got piled up in Mason's car the interrogation began. But weirdly, Mason started it.
"Now Becks. Spill the beans. Who needs to be sued, whom do I need to beat up, and do I need to kill someone? Because in that case you two are helping me hide the body."
Rachel and I both stared at him with wide eyes and open mouths.
But the second our eyes met we burst into laughter.
I love my brother. I swear he was the best.
And don't make a mistake.
He definitely would kill a person for me if he thought it was necessary.
And me and Rachel would actually help him.
Because that's just how things were in our family.
We stuck together in good and bad.
Well but let's not get dramatic.
We wouldn't kill anyone in the near future.
Probably.
A smirk was playing on Mason's lips, and I was grateful he managed to break the ice.
I took a deep breath and started talking.
"You see in Paris, I got a new supervisor because Mandy was assigned to another model for this season so she flew to Mexico the other day. This new supervisor of mine was a man. A scumbag technically speaking.
He lied to me. He told me he was single and he only had eyes for me. Of course I wasn't going to be an easy prey so I played hard to get. So a few days ago it felt like he worked enough. And I let him get into my pants."
At my last words Mason made a weird face.
Yeah, yeah I know it's probably not easy to listen about your sisters sex life.
But hey, he asked and I was just giving him an honest answer.
Without any additional explanations I can say in my defense.
I was giving him just the facts.
A smirk still pushed its way on my lips.
It was fun toying with him.
I am still a younger sister so it's my obligation to torture him.
"So after that he approached me the next day, and told me to either quit my current job or he would destroy my reputation and I would become a homewrecker because asshole dearest had a very jealous wife who was breathing down his neck. And as I later found out, he wouldn't have to do much to destroy me, since his wife was the one who owned the place where the shooting was taking place."
Mason stepped on the brakes and they both turned around to look at me with sjock written on their faces.
Suddenly Mason's face became as red as a tomato and he started to make a U turn.
"Nope. We are going back and I will be going to Paris. He is a dead man."
A laugh burst out of me.
"Don't Mason. He is not worth it. And besides I needed a break. And he kind of gave me the perfect opportunity. So let's just get something to eat shall we?"
After a few minutes of convincing from me and Rachel he finally agreed to let it go. For the moment.
I would take what I could.
We arrived at our favorite dinner in town and went to a booth in the back of the room.
We ordered our food anI was chatting with Mason, while Rachel looked at something work related.
Suddenly her face paled while she was looking at her phone.
I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Becky you won't like this."
I looked at the screen that she turned my way and there in bold letters was written: Famous model "Becky" taking on a new role-homewrecker?
And that ladies and gentlemen is how you ruin someone's chances to work in their field. Forever.
But strangely…all I could feel was relief.
What was going on with me?
I loved my job, I really do.
But now it was time to ask myself the hard questions.
Do I want to have a family one day?
Do I want my life to be full of scandals and traveling, or family and love?
Looking across the table at my best friend and my brother I got my answer.
My career might end in a shitty way, but I still had people that cared about me.
So I decided.
I looked at them with a huge grin and they returned it with faces full of shock.
They probably thought I went crazy.
Who can blame them? My job was my life until yesterday.
"Don't worry guys. I know it's not a nice way to retire from my line of work. But I think it's the perfect timing. It's time for me to start concentrating on my family and maybe even my love life."
Rachel jumped from her stool and came around the table to give me a hug.
"We will always be by your side babes. And I am so proud of you. Also, We wanted to tell you this in person. We are getting married and you are my maid of honor."
I looked at her surprised, but once I got over the shock the true screaming began.
We were jumping and laughing and crying, all at once.
And Mason was trying to not become deaf from our screaming.
But who cares.
I would finally get the best sister in law a person could ask for.
I guess my life didn't nose dive with my resignation. It just started to go upwards.
