Chapter 1 (Becky's POV)
"ARE YOU SHITTING ME RIGHT NOW?"
I was looking at Gareth with wide eyes full of shock.
He was about to fire my ass and ruin my reputation in the world of fashion.
And why?
Because he was a cheating lying asshole!
Let's take a break so I can tell you a bit more about the details shall we?
Let me first introduce myself.
My name is Rebecka Collins but everyone calls me Becky and not many even know my full name honestly, that's how rare I use it.
I am or I should say I WAS a model of worldwide proportions.
I love this work.
It gives me the opportunity to see the world, do what I love and get paid for it so I can live a life many would envy me.
But I am not a spoiled brat in any way.
The only downfall to my work is that I rarely see my best friend or my brother but I guess you can't have it all in my line of work.
Now the ugly part comes.
A few months ago one of my superriors started showing interest in me.
And honestly I only had one boyfriend in all the years.
So of course it was flattering for me.
After a few weeks we started going out.
A dinner here and there, drinks after work hours etc, you get the drill.
A week ago I finally let him get into my pants.
But mark my words: he said he was single!
So we were fooling around for a week and suddenly pictures leaked about us being seen around Paris where we were situated at the moment.
I didn't think it was a big deal honestly but like I mentioned, I thought he was single.
And I had no clue the truth was different until today when he confronted me.
His words left a sour taste in my mouth.
He said this thing between us could not continue, which was really ok with me. It wasn't like I was in love or anything.
But what came out of his mouth next led to the response from earlier.
To make the picture clearer I will citate his words.
"You should also quit your job or I will make sure you lose it. I can't have my wife breathing down my neck because she thinks I am cheating on her."
Now tell me. Does he sound like an asshole or is it just my opinion?
So here we are now.
Destined to either give up my job or wait for Gareth to ruin my life.
I was still staring at him and I could see all his blood drained from his face at my words.
He was probably hoping I wouldn't hear the part about his wife, but I did hear it.
I've heard it really good.
When there was no response from him even after a minute I had enough.
"You know what? I will write my resignation today, not because of you or because I did something wrong, but because I know you are an asshole who will go to any lengths to make himself look good! And you said you were single, and now I have to pay for your greedy selfish ass!"
He was momentarily taken aback by my words but I would not wait for his response.
A sharp slap met his left cheek and after a few seconds thought his right one received one as well.
"I hope your wife realizes what kind of a douchebag you are and leaves you for someone better! Because no woman deserves to be cheated and later lied to!"
With those words I stamped away from him and out of the museum where my shooting should take place.
But guess it won't.
I quickly pulled out my phone and dialled the only person I wanted to talk to right now.
She picked up on the second ring.
"Hey Becks. What's up?"
Her voice alone made me feel better and worse at the same time.
Better because I knew she would always be here for me, but worse because I really missed my friend and wanted her to be next to me right now so I wouldn't have to tell her everything while we speak on the phone.
"Hey Rachel. Guess who is coming home in a few hours?"
A shriek pierced my ears and even though my situation was as fucked as it could be I laughed qt her excitement.
"Are you serious? How did you manage to get some vacation at this time of year? It has always been the busiest season for you! Wait. Becky, what happened? You are not coming back for vacation are you?"
I chuckled at my bestie. She knew me and my line of work so well.
And she was right. It was the summer season and those seasons were the most busy in my line of work.
But I guess this summer I can relax.
"No Rach. There's no vacation. I got fired. But I'd like to tell you the details once I land in London. I just wanted to let you know I am coming. And if you could tell Mason as well I would really appreciate it."
A familiar laugh was heard on the other side of the line and it made me smile right away.
"Thanks sis for thinking about me as well. Just let us know when to pick you up from the airport and we'll be there."
"Thanks guys. You are the best. See you in a few hours."
With those words we disconnected the call.
I still couldn't believe two most important people in my life were in a happy relationship.
Even though in a way it felt like my world was crashing down, on the other side it felt like I could finally breathe with full lungs.
I decided right there and then, this summer will be one I will remember forever.
Where I will put myself in the first place.
Do all the things I've put off for years, and finally enjoy my time off with my best friend and my brother.
