Just another roomie Chapter 43

Chapter 15 (Becky's POV) I was a nervous wreck. Biting my nails and walking aimlessly around my house while I waited for Rachel to arrive. I had to make a perfect dinner. I have no idea why it meant so much to me but it did. Also I knew my best friend. As soon as I tell her what kind of help I need she would be drilling for information about reasons behind my need to learn how to cook. I was never good at it. And let's be honest. As a model I didn't really eat much and I had enough money to eat in different restaurants each time. I am not bragging but that's the kind of lifestyle I was used to. But now, I guess it was time for me to step down from my pedestal and learn things that any normal person at my age knew how to do. Like cooking. Finally my belt rang and I practically ran to my door. Rachel pulled me into a hug as soon as I opened the door. "Don't worry Becky. I will help you hide the body." I burst into laughter. "What body? What are you talking about?" She gave me her evil smile before answering my question. "Well you spoke with such urgency I was sure we had to dig a grave and hide someone's body." At her words we both burst into another fit of laughter. Damn I loved this woman. She knew exactly how to calm down my nerves. I pulled her inside and closed the door behind her. "We don't have a body to hide. Yet. But if you don't help me we just might have it in the evening. I need you to help me make dinner for two. And we only have until 6pm because I need to get ready as well." Her face practically started glowing at my words. "You naughty woman! Who are we making dinner for? Spill it all or I won't help you out!" Told you. "Ok. But you need to promise not to tell Mason anything about it. Do we have a deal?" She looked troubled for a moment. "You know I hate lying to him. But ok. I guess I can keep one thing from him. Now tell me. Who is your mystery man?" I took a deep breath and told my best friend the truth. "Aron. He is coming over for dinner tonight, and maybe to stay another night." Her face fell and was filled with concern in seconds. "Another night? Becky, you came back only yesterday. I have nothing against Aron, but I know he is not one for relationships." I looked at her with a little bit of anger since I could hear judgment in her voice. "I am a grown ass woman Rachel. And yes I only came back yesterday. But we kind of clicked. And he needed a place to stay yesterday so I helped him out. It might have gotten a little steamy but we slept in separate rooms and beds. And who was talking about a relationship? I've told you I need to first find myself before approaching those subjects. And I expected more support from you. But here you are judging me." Her face became sad at my words. I know I hurt her but I wanted her to feel the same I did at her words. "I am sorry. I should support you, you are right. I just don't want to see you get hurt. I hope you know that. I love you Becky. Never forget that." I know she was just looking out for me. But it still hurts. It reminded me of all the bad choices I made in the past when it came to male population. "I know Rach. Now will you help me please? I don't want to poison the poor man." A giggle escaped her and she engulfed me in one of her trademark hugs. We never managed to stay angry at one another for long. We went to the kitchen and Rachel helped me prepare everything for dinner. Since we didn't have much time left we decided on spaghetti bolognese. Simple and fast but delicious. She showed me how you can tell pasta is cooked just right, and helped me prepare the sauce. Once we were finished the whole house smelled amazing and I couldn't wait to see Aron's expression when he tasted my dinner. Rachel made herself comfortable in my living room with a glass of red wine, which the doctor didn't forbid and I ran upstairs to get ready. I just stepped out of the shower when I could hear my doorbell. "I will get that so you can get dressed!" I know my best friend's words should make me feel better, but it just made me more nervous. And I started running around my room, looking for clothes because the words that were on repeat in my head were not good. Those words sounded like this: Oh shit! I knew Rachel and looking back at her expression and words when I told her who my dinner companion was, I would say she would be grilling him right now. I found clothes in a record time and didn't even care that I was make-up free and wearing a T-shirt and jeans. It will have to be good enough. I almost tripped over my own feet a few times on my way downstairs. When I was a step away from the living room I could hear Rachel's next question and it made me pause. I wanted to hear the answer as well. "What are your intentions with Becky, Aron? You know she's been through alot in the past year." I could hear a deep sigh that came from Aron before he gave her an answer. "Rachel in all the time that we've known each other, you know you've never seen me with a woman. Not because I am hiding them, but because there was no woman that would interest me. But Becky…she is different. I tried keeping away from her. But that didn't last long. It didn't last even a day. Which makes me believe there could be something. But I won't rush things. I want to see where things go. I want to take it slow." They continued to speak but I was not listening anymore. His words kept repeating in my head. Where things go. They can't go anywhere right? We were complete opposites. He was a successful businessman and I was a failure in my field of work. I was trying to get back on my feet and find myself after years of losing myself in the world of fashion. We were just too different. Right?
