I CAN'T RELAX while looking at Yara lying on the bed. We are now at an ob clinic for a check-up. She is delayed for a month and the doctor said that when that happened, she would have to go for a check-up so we will know what to do.
"Zeus, can you sit down. I feel dizzy looking at you."
"Sorry." I sat down until the doctor came. I move my foot while watching what the doctor is doing to her. She has a gel in her stomach as well as a device. The doctor opened the monitor and placed the device on Yara's stomach and then moved it. I just stared at the monitor even though I didn’t understand anything. It's just black n white and it looks like static on the tv which is messy when there is no signal.
"So, confirmed. You're three weeks pregnant," the doctor said. "Come, Mr. Del Valle. I'll show you your baby."
I approached the doctor and she pointed to something I don't know. It is like a shrimp bending. "Here's the head, and this will be the feet when it's fully developed."
"Ah!" I nodded as I stared at the monitor. Fuck! What's wrong with me? And what is that thing like a shrimp that the doctor pointed out?
Wait, is the doctor said ----
"Doc, what did you say?" The doctor looked at me and then at Yara. "What is that head and pile like a shrimp?" Yara laughed so I frowned. Her laughter was like a sudden laugh because she witnessed stupidity.
"Mr. Del Valle, your girlfriend is 3 weeks pregnant."
"He is still not yet understanding doc. He is still taking time and in shock."
"Are you saying that I am going to be a father?" I suddenly ask.
"Yes,"
"I will be a father?" I whispered.
"Zeus?"
"I will be a father!" I shouted and even the doctor held her chest in panic. I approached Yara and kissed her face. Wherever my kiss landed but I didn't care.
God! This is how you feel when you are surprised by something you really want to happen. Now I feel what those suckers feel when they heard about their wife's pregnancy. It's like you're in a cloud. I feel different now than I did when I found out I was the father of twins. Just, it's like I want to treat the whole Philippines.
"Mr. Del Valle, there are a lot of not allowed on your girlfriend." I looked at the doctor because of what she said.
"Ok."
"She needs a full bedridden, forbidden to move, forbidden to be stressed, forbidden to move, and forbidden to have sex, means she is forbidden to reach orgasms." I looked at Yara with a frown. "For now, Ms. Fuentes. While you're in your first trimester. You're not allowed to be pressured, and we know that if you reach a climax, there's a pressure."
"Ok, I got it. And because I'm forbidden to reach heaven. Means you're forbidden too, Zeus."
"Nobody said I wasn't forbidden, did they doc?"
"You can, as long as your girlfriend doesn't get tired. As I said she's bedridden and if it's possible until she gives birth, do it to avoid what happened before. If it's even to defecate and urinate and she's in a diaper do it," The doctor explains.
"See, your uterus is not clinging to the baby. The baby is inside but can't cling. The egg plantation in the uterus lining is improper so the baby can't hold it properly. With a little movement, or a little force even to incubate garlic it can possibly cause bleeding in her."
"I got it, for short, she just lay all day and night," I looked at Yara after saying that.
"Yes," replied the doctor. "If you feel anything, call the doctor immediately. Give her dairy, milk, margarine, yogurt, or any food that softens the stool so that her stool is also liquid."
"Okay, doc."
"Monthly check-up, no nearby gadgets to prevent radiation. Cellphones should have timing at least 1hr, then rest for four hrs."
"Got it,"
"Again, no sex, and no orgasm release."
"Ok." Yara and I said.
After the doctor cleared everything, I asks permission that I need to do something and I will be back asap. I did not hear anything from you so I left. After a few minutes I came back and they both frowned. Yara's face still frowned while the doctor smiled at me.
"What's that?" she asked when she saw what I was carrying while the doctor laughed.
"Wheelchair."
"I know it's a wheelchair. For what?"
"For you to ride here until we get home. Start now bedridden."
"I can walk, can't I, doc?"
"Well, I think it's ok that your boyfriend wants to happen."
"But ---"
"You'll ride here or I'll just lift you up." The doctor chuckles.
"Fine."
I came closer to her and placed the wheelchair opposite her. She was about to stand up but I stopped her.
"I'll lift you." She has no choice because I picked her up and put her in a wheelchair. "Thank you, doc," I said to the doctor.
Before we finally leave I went to Keisha's office. She is my cousin who first checked on Yara then. I asked her if she knows someone that I can hire to be Yara's personal nurse.
I took two from the names that she gives. I want to personally take care of her but I have work too. I immediately took two to keep an eye on her properly. Tomorrow they will come to the condo. I am so happy right now. I don’t know how I will feel. It was like I wanted to explode with fun. We arrived at the condo without my knowledge because my focus is on Yara.
I slowly put her in bed. I kissed her too. I want to take care of her and I want her to be happy while the twins are still in her stomach.
"Do you want something to eat?" She shook her head as she looked at me. "You want me to open the tv?" She shook her head again. "What do you want?"
"You."
"Me?"
"Yes, seat here." She tapped the bed on her side.
"What do you want?"
"Thank you for not giving up on me. For understanding me, and now for giving me another hope, our baby. For agreeing that we can have another one. Zeus, I'll promise to take care of our baby." I wipe her tears and kiss her hand.
"I know you can be a good mother. Now, there is no reason to get stressed. You have nothing to do but just follow the doctor's instructions and I will take care of everything. Thank you, baby."
"For what?"
"For not leaving me. For being there. What I said that I need you is true. I really need you so badly, baby. I need you so badly, Yara."
"We can be good parents, Zeus. I know, especially you. I know you'll be a good father. Don't leave them, will you?"
"We are. And yes, I won't leave you." I kiss her and hug her. I am so fucking happy right now. I can’t explain the fun I have. I'm only sure of one thing. Yara is the woman that I want to spend for the rest of my life.
