Author's POV
Her hands trembled as she told everything to the police officer. He was paying attention to her.
"I am scared... They both blackmailed me!"
She told him about everything. Right from Zen to her current husband.
"Calm down, Ma'am... You are shaking..."
He replied.
"Genna... Give her some water..."
"No! I don't want water... Please file F.I.R against him... You don't understand, he is dangerous..."
She sobbed.
"He has my brother..."
"What's his name again?"
He asked.
"Vladimir Volkov!"
She answered.
"Why are you not filing my complaint?"
He sighed and started typing on his computer.
"How did you get involved with him?... I am filing your complaint but you need to wait until we complete all procedures... He is a famous personality..."
Veronica sat there while he kept asking her questions.
"Have some water!"
The lady constable placed the glass in front of her. Veronica looked at her and mumbled thank you.
"And come with me... I need to ask some personal questions..."
Veronica nodded and followed her to another desk.
"Did he do something wrong with you?... I mean forced himself or something like that..."
She asked with a neutral face.
"No!"
Vera answered honestly.
"Did he hurt you?"
She asked and shook her head.
"But he kidnapped me"
"How did you escape?"
She asked.
Vera was about to answer but then she heard his voice and it sent chills down to her spine.
"I am curious too..."
Vera looked at him when he entered inside in his signature black suit. She gulped.
"Mr. Volkov... It's pleasure to have you here..."
Same officer who was filing her complaint greeted Vlad with smile.
"You have my wife!"
He said throwing bundle of cash on his desk.
Vera's eyes widened and all hopes she had build before slowly crashed down.
"Yes, she is waiting for you..."
The officer said while stuffing the bundle in his jacket with greedy grin.
"You people are supposed to protect me."
Vera looked at the lady constable with glossy eyes.
"Instead You guys informed him that I am here!"
"It's quite the opposite, Mrs. Volkov..."
Lady sighed.
"We were informed that you will be here..."
Vera's heart stuttered at her words. He knew that she will try to escape.
She flinched when Vlad grabbed her arm and dragged her out with him. She looked around, street were full of people.
"Try it! I dare you."
Vlad gritted with clenched jaw.
He pushed her inside the car and she flinched when he slammed the door shut. Fear rouse in her body.
She looked at her trembling hands and intertwined in her lap.
She released a shaky breath when Vlad sat beside her. Memories of him killing people flashed in front of her eyes. She couldn't imagine her brother like that.
"What were you thinking?"
He asked in calm tone but she sensed the hidden anger beneath it and it sent chills in her body.
"I am sorry!"
She mumbled not wanting to anger him more.
She yelped when he dragged her on his lap and grabbed her chin harshly. Vera looked at his furious eyes.
"I am pissed, Doc... And I hate 'Sorry' word... Especially when one doesn't mean it..."
He wiped her tears with his knuckles.
"Save these tears... I haven't even started..."
He said and she shook in fear.
"I just wanted to meet my brother..."
She sobbed.
"I thought you are a smart girl..."
His hand were firm around her waist, holding her down on his lap.
"Do you know how many people are waiting to hurt you, just to get at me... Because they know you are my weakness..."
He tucked a strand behind her ear.
"I don't want you to be my weakness, Vera... I want you to be my power... And it won't happen until you give in..."
Vera didn't answer, she was just looking at his chest with glossy eyes.
"Give in!... Let me take care of you... I know the way I married you was unfair but I had no choice... You won't regret this relationship, just give it a chance..."
He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her.
"Next time you try to escape, at least wear proper clothes. It's freezing out there..."
He rubbed her cold hands.
Vera was confused by his behavior, she was waiting for him to lash out on her. Abuse her but No! Instead, he was taking care of her.
"Did you hurt your leg?"
He asked and she looked at him with same confused face.
"I don't trust you!"
She mumbled.
"We will work on it."
He gently kissed the back of her hand.
"Boss, we are home!"
His right hand man Michelle, Informed.
"Open the door"
Vlad ordered.
He carried Vera inside. She frowned when he placed her on the bed and inspected her wound.
"Door risk your health, wife!... I'll arrange the whole marathon for you if you are fond of running but after your recovery... Don't try to escape now, because you won't succeed..."
He treated her wound and covered her with blanket.
"Take some rest..."
He ordered and walked out.
Vera sat there, disappointed with herself. It was a great chance for her to escape and find out about her brother.
"Mrs. Volkov..."
She looked at Michelle. It's still very New for her to being called Mrs. Volkov.
"Dinner!"
He is the same age as Vlad but has a beard and body full of tattoos.
Vera Thanked him. She has seen him before, he used to spent whole night in the hospital with Vlad.
"I really don't want you to end up in trouble, Mrs. Volkov... So friendly advice! Don't try it again... It's impossible to break in or out of the security..."
"I just did! If it wasn't for those currupt officers..."
She replied.
"You still don't understand... It was a trap..."
He said and her eyes snapped towards him.
"Vlad wanted to see how far you can go... Why do you think there was no security on the back gate... He knew thatyou will take the chance... Your movements were followed right from the moment you stepped out of this room..."
He sighed.
"Just don't do it again..."
Vera looked at him shocked as he walked out of the room. She couldn't believe that Vlad was just Playing with her.
