The early morning sun illuminated the whole bedroom as Kate stirred from her sleep opening her heavy eyelids.
Her arching body was a prove that Alvin did sleep with her. At least she can see her mother. She sat up looking around for him then picked her shawl and slipped it on.
" You're awake. Get dressed we're going to Jamaica to see your mother. Be at your best behavior if you want to see her " he stated while sitting on the couch behind the screen.
" Okay. I'll do that" she said shyly wondering where the soreness went. She tried all her best not to cry to escape his fury.
" You may leave* he stated as she hummed knotting her shawl properly then left.
Climbing down from the staircase, Lisa and Annette ran to her pulling her into a hug. They thought he punished her again.
" How do you do? They asked in unison then took a closer look at her gorgeous bodycon dress.
" Are you going somewhere? They asked in unison again with their eyes meeting
" Alvin has agreed to take me there. So here I am ready to go" she smiled sitting down to wait for him.
Lisa and Annette continued to chat with her hoping to lighten her mood then heard footsteps as if compelled they looked up at the same time.
Alvin wore the same color as Kate's dress: Lilac. Kate couldn't help but roll her eyes at him. the event of him sleeping with her will envisage but she quickly shakes it off' that's what he wants. Get yourself together' she reminded herself.
" You look lovely but there's one thing missing" he voiced pulling her closer then opened a box of jewelry and wore the necklace around her neck then slipped her wedding ring on her finger.
" C'mon, let's go. " Touching the necklace, she twitched her mouth then grabbed her luggage and purse trailing after him.
" Is it I or Sir Alvin is different. He doesn't have that look of *I hate you* in his eyes anymore" Lisa chimed as Annette shrugged her shoulders
The guards greeted them as they got to the airport, directing them to a private jet. She quietly boarded it eager to see her mom. Admiring the interior structures.
" What is it? Alvin asked sitting near her holding her hands
" Nothing," she said fidgeting rubbing her palms together
" Just say it" he coaxed as she raised her head staring at him nervously
" Can I have my phone and laptop now? Am I free to resume work now? He looked away from her. As if thinking about it
" You can but it's not here. As for your job, well, I'll give a call to your company on one condition" she just stared at him waiting for him to say it
" I'm ready to do anything ."
" Good. Then you're not planning David's wedding. It's your choice though. Nothing good comes out of disobeying me. " He reminded her placing a chaste kiss on her lips then left then she held his hand
" Alvin, can I stay with her for some days. Please. Louis can't attend to her the way I could" she pleaded as he frowned removing her hands from his.
She would have asked for some weeks or months, she knew he would be gone soon. She settled for some days
" Fine. Colt found a donor for her. The transplant has been done. She's recuperating as for the diabetes, I'll employ someone to manage that. So there's no need for you to stay " he explained. She appreciated his effort but she would have preferred to be there for her.
" Can't she live with us? Or maybe.." she hasn't finished when he cut her off.
" What the hell did you just say? Are you her only child? Don't provoke me, Kate. Maybe she will need to live in the old people's home. Which do you prefer? She knew he wasn't joking.
" It was just a suggestion. Thank you for finding her a donor. I'm grateful. " She said cowering before him. Been locked up for the past weeks had her submitting to him. She didn't want to cross him again. At least he took care of her.
" Keep it to yourself. You always ruin everything" he snapped walkie away from her. She held the urge to cry her eyes out. Has her marriage become that bad that she can't voice her own opinion? What happened to the brave girl she was. Alvin has broken her. She has lost all her confidence. Whimpering she fixed her headphone to listen to some cool music.
Alvin held her waist directing her to the exclusive hospital, it was obvious that it was a multi-million dollars hospital. The dean of the hospital and other chiefs came out to welcome him directing him to the private ward.
Kate didn't know what to say, the ward was a classic one. A high-class ward. She couldn't help but look at him then at her sleeping mother. She seemed fine. She sat beside her giving her a peck.
" See. I told you she was fine. " He tells her sitting beside her.
" Thank you, Alvin. Thank you" she said feeling guilty for thinking the worst of him. Yes, he treats her bad but her mother was living fine. She couldn't help but hug him.
Alvin was caught off guard by the hug but he smiled. Treat her family well and she yields to him. He's very much aware of that but he couldn't help but do it. They make her happy.
" it's my duty to you Kate. " He voiced
She stayed back for two days taking care of her mom. She smiled so much that her mom thought she was happy with Alvin.
