I was having the best moments, I had been dating Nate for three months at that time. We had been getting to know each other better. And I had moved back to my dad's, as he welcomes me happily. He had also been getting along very well with Nate. I couldn't be any more content with my life.
Dad had been recovering tremendously well. His doctor said that he was almost back to normal, but then again he warned us that the second heart attack would usually be worst. So, there was no guarantee. We just had to keep dad healthy, mainly with his diet, exercise, and cutting down on his working hours.
He had no problem with diet and exercise, but he had been a workaholic since mom passed away. I would have to keep him away from his home office when it was nearing his bedtime. But aside from that, me and dad were good.
In the last couple of months, I had also grown very close to Alice. And with my sugar addiction, it was just about time that I honed my skill in making my own sweets. That was why, I decided to join a pastry class to fill my time, until the next enrollment for college.
I would be back on the weekends, to visit Archie and Alice at Novelty with Nate. It was also our signature coastal getaway date. We would stay at his brother's, but whenever the cottage was free I would prefer to stay there. It had a more intimate feel to the place.
"Nate, I'm good baby. I'll meet you at the cottage. Yes, I already called Daniel and told him to leave the key at the usual place. Yes, I'm taking a cab. No, I'm at Dany's grocery store around the corner buying some stuff for the weekend. I'll take a cab from here. Yes, I'll see you there in a couple of hours. Love you too baby." I hang up on him as I was walking out of the store to wait for my cab.
But then a shady van stopped in front of me. I didn't think as I approached the man, as he tried to ask me questions about street names and directions. I didn't feel the second man until he was behind me and pushed me inside the van as he nudged my back with a knife.
What the hell?! Oh my god! What the fuck is going on?
He shut my mouth with his fat hand then tied my wrist to my front. He told his driver friend to keep on driving fast. I couldn't see their faces, they were both using sunglasses. I was crying and panicking at this stage. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it in my ear.
"What do you want from me? Please let me go, please..." I was begging him, but then he shut me up by putting his knife on my cheek and running it down slowly. I could feel the coldness of the knife as it scratches my cheek. He was purposely done it just to scare me. I knew that he was just threatening me, but he really did scare me. I was shaking and sobbing at the same time.
I could feel the sting from my tears as it falls to my cut cheek. Then he moved to the front seat to join his friend but not before he threatened me to mark my face with his knife. I was nodding frantically at his words. He let out a laugh then move upfront.
"Relax woman, your dear family awaits. We're just picking you up." Then he continued talking and laughing with his friend, saying that this was an easy gig for fast cash.
I was squirming on the back of the van trying to calm myself down. But I was still shaking and sobbing at the same time.
What the fuck did he mean by my family is waiting?
Shit! Is this Pamela's doing?
I know she had violent tendencies because she used to hit me. But I never knew that she would do something this drastic. I thought she was set with her alimony from dad.
Fuck! What did I get myself into?!
But then I remembered that I had my phone in my front pocket. I quickly get it and put it in silence, then I texted Nate.
Kidnapped. danys. Two guys shady van. Think is Pamela. Find me pls I'm scared. Love u alwys forever. Urs Marissa.
Then I shared my location with him. And quickly hide my phone back in my pocket. My hands were shaking as I put my phone back in my pocket. My adrenalin pumped higher as I kept on shaking and sobbing at the same time.
As if he could read my mind, he went back to my side and took my purse as he searched for my phone. "Your fucking phone, where is it?" He took my wallet and grabbed my cash.
"My pocket." I pretend that I couldn't reach it. I just hope he didn't open my message first. I sighed as he pulled it out of me and didn't check it. He put it inside my purse and throw it away in a garbage bin, as they took a quick stop at the nearest traffic light.
At that moment I felt my world shattered. I had no idea how to get in contact with Nate and dad. Suddenly I panicked, I sobbed real hard. The man was annoyed and slapped me hard until it all went dark.
In that darkness, I felt cold, so cold. I couldn't move my body, but I could still feel my tears fall down to my cheek.
Will this be it for me? Will, I finally die, when I was in the happiest moment of my life? When I just found my one true love? When I just get back with my dad? Dad...what will happen to him when I'm gone? Will he be okay? Will his heart be fine?
It was all in the dark, I felt so alone, so sad, so cold and alone.
Nate...please find me. I love you, please find me...
