Chapter 31
All heads turn to see who challenged Beta Azeah, everyone froze as they saw Xerxes wearing his father's robe, a black fur robe that had been designed with diamonds and gold silk, he saddled his father's sword; the death bringer by his side as he held the scrolls and pieces of paper in his hands.
He took his time to climb down the extravagant stairway and walk towards them,
"She is your child, she doesn't deserve to sit on the throne!" Azeah spits at him while Xerxes rolled his eyes,
"Have you forgotten that I am royalty??" The sudden revelation shocked everyone except for those who knew, her eyes began to shut and Asher rushes to hold her before she collapsed on the ground,
"Be careful my Queen, I know you're shocked but pull together." He encourages her but her heart was already breaking,
"What else did they hide from me?" She was pained to her bone, so many secrets,
"I am the first and only child of king Fang and king Magnus was my step uncle, I have rights to the throne too." Everyone begins to murmur once more, where was all of this coming from? And why was he just coming out now?
"Sorry to say Xerxes, King Fang willed his kingdom to his brother and not his son, so you have no say in this. Arcadia cannot become Queen and that is final." Azeah puts his foot down and Mazi agrees with him, Xerxes laughs and it echoes round the place walls,
"You're both fools, you think you could hide this away from me forever?! Show me, show me where my father willed over his kingdom to my uncle, show me!!" He orders but Azeah only see him as an idiot,
"Bring king Fang's will from the Royal memorandum!!" Mazi orders and one of his servants run to fulfill his wish, Xerxes turns to Sheila and she had a devious smirk on her face.
The hall is silent and when the servant comes back, he comes back with a scroll, he bows and gives it to Mazi and Mazi reads out the will,
"I, king Fang, will my kingdom to my brother Magnus in hopes that he would take care of his subjects after my passing!!" He makes sure he is loud enough for everyone to hear, but this only makes Xerxes smirk, "so boy, I don't know why you are causing drama when you know Magnus was willed the throne in the first place."
"Let me see the will." He requests and the sage begins to sweat, "since I am his son I deserve to see my father's will. Give it to me this instant!" The change in his tone brought fear into everyone's hearts, Arcadia had never seen him this angry before.
Mazi and Azeah stare at each other for too long before Asher helped him snatch it from the sage's grip, he hands it to his master with a bow, and Xerxes goes ahead to read it.
"What is this?! Do you think this is a joke?!!" He was even angrier now, "does this look like my father's handwriting?!" He shows everyone, "father was a scribbler, his handwriting can never be this neat even if the goddess taught him to write herself!" His comment earned him a few giggles from the ladies while the men did their best to hide their chuckle, "this is clearly forged!!"
"What are you saying?! That we falsified the king's will?" Azeah brought out his sword until Asher stood in front of his master with his, Sheila exhume her Fan and holds it to his neck,
"One move and you would sent back to the goddess, be careful beta Azeah." She warns him and he backs down a bit.
"Yes, that is what I am saying! This is not my father's! His letters are always incomplete and slanted a bit, this is straight and too neat to be his!!" He continues to point out and shows comparison to the ones in he pieces of paper, "my father is also left handed and this is clearly written my a right handed man."
He throws the scroll down and brings out his own, he shows it to everyone what his father writes like, and he begins to read the will,
"I wish that my son takes over my Kingdom once he has reached the age of awakening, he should be led and guided however he can but I want Xerxes to sit on the throne." He looks up at the sage, "when father died I wanted to see his will, but you denied me access to it. Now I know why you didn't want me to see it because you know I would know."
"You're all liars and scams!!" Arcadia finally speaks up with tears in her eyes, "you all have committed crimes against the kingdom!! And you would be greatly punished for it!!" Everything inside of her was burning in her hatred.
"Magnus killed my father, he poisoned him daily until his body couldn't handle it anymore, he wrote it as a secret message to me, hoping that I would find his will." Xerxes reveals and their whole plan is busted.
The sage is speechless, he told that maid to burn the will, what the hell did she burn?
"I saw when you were telling a maid to burn a scroll, you wanted to get rid of the will so no one would be able to oppose you crowning Beta Azeah as the king." Sheila smirks at Mazi, "you're too old for games like these sage. You should hit retirement." She laughs and so does Asher.
Xerxes pushed them aside and takes the crown from Mazi,
"I wished I had listened to Octavia when she told me her husband killed my father, but I couldn't believe my uncle could do such. Now I can finally see what a deceitful man he was, and you a supported him. He attacked her clan for their power and he killed my wife, I'm glad I killed him myself. He caused his own demise."
He turns to his daughter with so much love in his eyes, "I, king Xerxes, crown my daughter, the flesh of Queen Octavia, Queen of the North!" And he places the crown on her head, and the guests cheer for their Queen.
"No!! This is not supposed to happen!!" Azeah draws his sword to attack them both but he is stopped in his tracks my Asher's sword,
"One more step and consider yourself a goner." He warns, and while Mazi tried to escape until Sheila held his old ass in place,
"And where are you going oldie? You're part of this whole conspiracy too." She makes sure he is in place.
"I'm so sorry I didn't tell you anything about me Arcadia, I hope you can forgive me for it." He is remorseful,
"We would talk about that later, you're meant to walk me to the throne." She managed a smile and he pulls his arm out for her take it. He walks her to the throne and she sits on it, she was finally Queen. At long last. Her mother would be proud.
She takes a look at her subjects, she was so happy and she couldn't hide the tear that escaped her right eye, but they were happy with their new Queen. Their first ever Queen.
"All hail Queen Arcadia!!" They all cheer for her.
