Naira's P.O.V.
I was about to leave but got stopped as they got in front of me. I didn't forget anyone who was involved in that dare and so I immediately recognized them.
Mack and Rivan.
Besides they were also there in front of the hospital and from them I got to know the truth actually behind that dare.
I was annoyed and was about to take steps forward but Mack got in front of me, "We need to talk."
"I don't think so." Was my direct answer but without bothering that Rivan spoke up, "Please. We will be quick."
Giving them a last glance, I left the venue and as expected they followed me. Being totally irritated at that, I turned to them and spoke up, "What's your problem actually? Can't you guys leave me alone in peace?"
"Do you think you will be seriously in peace being alone?" Mack's question got me knitted my brows.
They got silent for a moment and then Rivan spoke up, "Naira, we know you are angry and you had all the right to be. But listen to us for once. Ehan wasn't at fault actually nor was it Akash's intentional thing. He loathed girls for some unknown reason.
Girls used to roam around him but he was busy being an arrogant jerk to them. We knew Ehan was never going to talk to a girl by himself. Akash wasn't there much after that as he got busy with his personal problem and project thesis. We provoked him to that point to do all those."
"So what difference is it going to make? You guys played and Ehan won. Then it's the end. Why are you bothering me? Is it bothering you guys that I have moved on forgetting your friend's so called act? That I"
Mack didn't let me complete, "Have you really moved on? I mean I saw your face when Ehan was talking to that girl. You were jealous, right?"
As soon as Mack completed, I scoffed in annoyance. "Jealousy, my foot." Even if I was I was never going to confess it not even to myself.
"I don't care, okay? Get back to the place where you came from and take that friend of yours with you."
I didn't stay there any longer and left the place.
Arriving the hotel, I took a long shower. And then getting out, I sat on the recliner leaning against it. Rivan's one saying was playing on in my mind, "He just loathed girls for some unknown reason."
I knew the reason. His mother.
But that doesn't justify his work.
Without bothering to argue with myself or normally trying to get some sleep, I chose the pills. Taking two, I lied down on bed.
Next Day at Office
At lunch break while gossiping with some of my team mates, I entered the road side restaurant near our office and got a table.
I was thinking about the plan of promotion when I heard one of my team mate uttering, "Look Mr. Sinha is here also."
As I was back facing towards the entrance, I didn't get to see him nor I turned back. I was already getting annoyed at the thought that he might follow me here which I wanted the least.
He walked passed our table and sat on a table right in front of ours with some other people may be his team mate.
I looked towards him for once and then concentrated on eating the sandwiches in front of me.
When I was done, I left from there saying, "You guys continue. I have some important thing to do."
I was walking towards the office but sensing something, I looked behind. And yes, there he was following me.
I stood straight and asked in a serious tone, "Are you stalking me?"
He uttered in an obvious tone, "What if I am?"
I scoffed at him hearing this.
He got uttering again, "I know how you must have felt-"
"No, you don't. You can't imagine the pain, I have endured because of you." I interrupted him, "You're still the same, Ehan. Back then, when I needed you, you weren't there. You left me shattered and now all of a sudden you realized that you love and so, you are here to annoy me. Can you bring back that old time? Can you undo the humiliating feelings, those sleepless nights, those tears that I shed only because of you?"
The remorse was flaring in his eyes. But it didn't reduce my anger not even for a bit and I yelled again, "Don't you get it? Stop stalking me."
He tried to utter, "Naira, please" but got interrupted as out of nowhere a cop got there and asked, "Excuse me, Ma'am. Is there any problem?"
Without thinking any other thing, I blurted out, "Help me. This man is stalking me."
Ehan looked shocked as he again uttered, "Naira, please."
Without bothering his word, the cop spoke up, "Ma'am you go. We will handle the thing. And keep this. If you face any problem, just inform." as he forwarded a card.
Nodding at him, I took the card and left from there though Ehan kept calling my name.
Arriving at the entrance of the office, I looked behind for once and found none.
I entered the office without bothering as I knew there was no way a silly trap like this which I caused would be able to get Ehan hold given his identity.
Completing my work, I forwarded towards the hotel.
For the next two days I didn't get to see Ehan around. Neither he came to office nor I found him following me or something. I guessed he must have understood that I wasn't going to fall into his trap again and left from there.
I got completed my work in New York without any more interruption. Mom and Dad was calling me back. Giving it a good thought, I also decided to go back. Whatever happened in the past, I didn't want to affect my present for that.
That day when I was checking out from the hotel, Mack and Rivan reached me at the reception.
"Naira, did you see Ehan around?" Mack got uttering while panting.
Hearing him, I knitted my brows but didn't utter anything only to get Rivan speaking up, "For two days, we haven't seen him. His phone is switch off which is very unlikely of him. Neither he went for his office work nor he was in the hotel."
"He must have left from here." Saying this, I took a step forward when Mack got uttering, "No way. We talked to his Dad and Akash as well. He didn't get back there."
I gave them a blanked look as they got uttering again, "He promised without taking you, he wouldn't leave from here."
I got silent for a moment and then got uttering, "As if he keeps his all promises! Anyways, I didn't see him."
Mack got uttering, "Naira, please help us. We have no clue where he could be." While giving me a pleading look.
"How would I know where he could be!" I was getting irritated and tensed at the same time.
Then it hit my mind.
What if Ehan was still trapped because of my complaint to police!
Even just a mere thought seemed laughable. There was no way it would be possible but..
To satisfy my inner self, I searched for the card in my bag, that the cop gave me that day.
Finding that, I immediately dialed the number.
"Hello?" I heard a male voice.
"Hello, Sir. It's Naira here." I uttered slowly whereas Mack and Rivan was looking at me with uttered curiosity.
"Naira, who?"
I explained, "I met you two days ago and complained about a man who was stalking me and you gave me your card."
I could feel Mack and Rivan giving me shocked expression.
"Oh, yeah. I remember. What's the problem? Is there anyone else bothering you?" hearing him, I immediately answered, "No. Sorry for disturbing you but I wanted to ask about him. You released him, right?"
"Not at all, Ma'am. He is still in lock up. You don't worry about that."
Hearing him, my eyes widened as I whispered, "What!"
"Yes. No one came for him yet."
"Which police station? Can you te..text me the address?" I stuttered.
"Okay." He cut off the line.
I didn't dare to look at Mack and Rivan who kept asking me several questions but nothing was going through my mind..
I just didn't get why he chose to be imprisoned when he himself was powerful enough to escape out of it.
I got out of my thought when Mack shook me by my arm, "Naira, what happened? Where is Ehan?"
"Police station" I replied avoiding his gaze only to get him utter, "What!"
I was about to say something again but got stopped as my phone vibrated indicating the arrival of a text.
I immediately opened it and looked at them then. Without bothering their shocked expression, I got uttering, "Let's go." And forwarded towards the entrance.
My mind wasn't functioning well as the possibility of so many bad things happening to Ehan popped in at once getting anger, horror and guilt pulsed through my veins....
