Roshni's P.O.V.
I was shocked hearing Ammi. She kept caressing my hair and talking."Roshni, you have done more than enough for me, for us. I am really lucky to have you as my daughter. But you can't keep going on like this. Now you should have a family of yourself."
Having enough of the words, I spoke up, "What are saying, Ammi! I can't just leave you two alone all by yourselves and go somewhere else."
Ammi got silent but Tithy spoke up, "How come two people are alone api! And I am here with Ma. I can take care of her. I am a big girl now."
Before I could say anything, Ammi said, "Tithy is right, Roshni. And you are not leaving us sweetheart. You will be just at a little distance. You can come here anytime you feel like."
I spoke up, "But Ammi.." only to get cut off by her.
This time she said with teary eyes, "Roshni, if your father would be alive, you would have been gotten married by now. He would never let you struggle and support us till now. If I let you go on like this, how will I face him, Roshni? You know seeing you working like this hard for us, hurts me a lot."
Ammi was talking and tears started flowing from her eyes. I wiped the tear and hugged Ammi and said, " Ammi, didn’t you try hard for me back then? For us? To get us everything, we want? Then why can't I, Ammi? I don’t want to be away from you even for a little distance. I want to stay with you two."
"Roshni, I am understanding of what you are getting scared but we can take care of ourselves and you are not getting me. You can't understand how a mother would feel to see her daughter going through hardship and struggling that too for her. You will never understand it." Saying this, Ammi got up and went to her room being hurt.
I kept there sitting and Tithy got near me and spoke up putting her hand on my shoulder, "Api."
I looked at her blankly and she got startled. Nonetheless she spoke up, "Api, what's the matter with you? You aren’t looking good. Anything happened?"
I didn’t answer anything and looked at the room of Ammi. Then she again said, "Api, tell me. You are not alone you know, right? Now I am not your little sister, Tithy. I am a grown up girl. You can share anything with me."
Hearing her, I looked back at her and asked, "Anything happened in the house today? Did anyone say anything to Ammi? Why is she talking about my marriage all of a sudden?"
"Actually api, a marriage proposal came for you today. And Ma is taking it seriously." Tithy replied me normally but I got shocked and was like, "What?"
"At first I thought you knew it all along. And by the way why are you worrying? You will be just at a little distance from us. And I promise you that I will take care of Ma and as well as myself. I can handle everything. Don’t you believe me?" Tithy said to me while trying to sound confident.
"It’s not like I don’t believe you, Tithy. It’s just" I stopped talking but my mind went on, "How can you handle everything all by yourself when you don’t even know yourself !!"
Remembering something, I asked her, "Wait a moment. How come you are saying this that I will be just at a little distance?"
With a smile, she said, "Api, the person who brought this proposal is Tamim vai's mother. She wants you as her daughter-in-law."
I was utterly shocked and just said, "What!!"
"Api, I thought you two like each other."
I was shocked and Tithy's words wasn’t helping a bit. With a sarcastic smile, I asked her, "What made you think like that?"
Hearing me, she smiled like she was happy and asked me, "You don’t like him then?"
"Obviously not. I mean he is my good friend and he helped me in many ways. But that doesn’t mean that I like him." I said the fact and she said innocently, "That's good."
I wasn’t getting her and gave her a confusing look.
Seeing that, she again spoke up, "I mean Tamim vai is a nice guy but I don’t like the idea of you two as a couple."
"Tithy what are you talking about? We are not a couple. And anyway I am not going to get married now." I was saying normally but got determined last moment.
Tithy looked at me surprisingly and said, "Api, your behaviour is not normal. What is bothering you? And anyway sooner or later you have to get married. Till when you want to wait?"
"Until I reached my destination" I uttered under my breath but spoke up differently, "Let's go. Make something for Ammi"
Saying this, I got up and went to kitchen and Tithy followed me there.
Ruhaan's P.O.V.
Entering house, I went to my room and got freshen up only to make my situation worse. I went towards gym and started working out.
When I was tired, I lied down on the floor. And the words kept buzzing in my mind.
"As if 4 years weren’t long enough! How much time he needs then?"
I don’t want to force Shaan. I know, he is suffering just like me. Though it happened years ago yet it feels like happening yesterday.
From the very beginning I didn’t like uncle that much. He was never a good husband or a good father. But now he is behaving like caring and all. I just don’t get it.
Since when did he start caring about Shaan! After aunty's death when Shaan was just a little boy of 16 years old and was craving for his attention while suffering, he didn’t care at all.
He remained busy with his business like always without giving him a little bit of time and attention. And now he got caring for him. Like really!!
Being too tired, when I fell asleep on the floor I didn’t know while thinking like that.
