Lola’s pov,
It was the day of the moon festival a couple of weeks later. The normally quiet village was buzzing with sounds. Lola walked through the fields that were filled with little stalls where people could sell things. Every stall sold something different from hand-made clothes to carved wood, to home-cooked meals. Besides the stalls, there were different areas where you could play all sorts of games. Lola saw a couple of wolves doing a strength battle with a big rope between their teeth. She rolled her eyes at the excessive display of growls and grunts and walked to the big dancefloor in the middle. There was a band playing and around the wooden dancefloor, there were lanterns in the shape of moons everywhere. On the day of the moon festival the sun never got up and the only light came from the full moon that was shining brightly. Today was about celebrating the existence of werewolves through the blessing of the moon goddess. The whole day you could have fun, dance, and eat but in the evening the leading Alpha always led a ceremony to honour the moon goddess. He would acknowledge certain werewolves that had stood out through the year and tell the plans for the coming year. Then he would swear a blood oath to protect all the packs, and everyone would follow his lead. After that, the night ends in a run, in wolf form with all the packs together.
Lola knew Noah was very nervous about his speech because this year it would be different from other years. They had spent weeks trying to find the right words to convince everyone of the changes they wanted to insert. Lola had also been extremely busy visiting all the households in the pack. She had to take her Luna tasks seriously because she would need the support of her pack now more than ever. She actually already had been able to change something major with the support of all the she-wolves in the pack. She convinced the males that it was better for the children to stay with their mothers at a young age instead of giving them independence training. She gave an emotional speech about her own orphan life and the importance of parents in growing a level of trust. The mothers of the pack had been extremely grateful that they could shelter their pups a little longer now.
Lola got interrupted from her daydreaming by a loud horn. She followed the crowd to one of the fields where all the kids that had been trained by Noah were lined up. They were about to give a demonstration of everything they learned in the past few weeks. Some kids waved at her, and she smiled and waved back. She had spent every free moment of her day watching them train. She really enjoyed seeing how they improved as a group in such a short amount of time. Besides, she found it extremely sexy to see Noah with them for some reason.
Noah blew a whistle and the kids all started to run at the same time. They did a number of exercises and tricks to show their strength and resilience. It was fascinating to see that they all moved at exactly the same time. It was like they were made of one mind. They also followed Noah’s commands within a second. He only had to hold up one finger and they all stood still in an instant. When they were done, they received loud applause from the audience. I noticed a lot of proud parents and most of the Alphas immediately walked to Noah and clapped him on his shoulders. Lola could see everyone was impressed and Noah was probably getting smothered with words of praise right now. Which was good because he needed to be in their good graces for what he was about to tell them later.
Lola quietly sneaked away now that most people were looking at the demonstration. Since she became the Luna, everyone bowed their heads when they saw her. It was nice to be respected but sometimes she preferred being invisible. She walked around the food stalls for a while before she picked a blue drink that had something sparkling in it. The sparkling bits were lighting up, so it was like drinking a sky with stars in a glass. The drink was cold but when she drank it, it warmed up her body from the inside and it tasted like blueberry’s. For food, she picked some bao buns that were shaped like half-moons. She was just enjoying the rich beef flavor inside the dough when someone hugged her from behind.
Noah inhaled deeply against her hair and mumbled, “I was wondering where you went. Should have known you were on the hunt for food.”
Lola chuckled and turned around to stuff some of the bun in his mouth. Noah’s eyes became big when he tasted it, “Hmm that is delicious.”
Lola smiled and handed him the rest of the food. She was kind of full, but she still wanted to find something to fill her dessert stomach. She spotted a churros stall next to the dancefloor and hurried over there. She just wanted to order when she heard the band starting to play her favorite romantic song. Surprisingly, she had always been a sucker for romantic country songs. She looked at the dancefloor and noticed Noah standing there all alone with his hand reaching toward her. She told Noah her favorite song was a soft place to fall, but that had been weeks ago. She never thought a man would remember something like that.
Her stomach started to flutter, and her heart was jumping in her chest when she walked toward Noah. Him standing there surrounded by lights made him more handsome than ever. He was wearing a 3-piece dark grey suit that fitted his muscular torso perfectly. His dark locks framed his face, and his grey eyes were fixated on her. His hand felt soft when he wrapped it around hers and pulled her close. He grabbed her tightly on her waist, so her body was pressed against him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his wide shoulder. Inhaling the scent of fresh eucalyptus. They slowly swayed to the rhythm of the music and Lola felt like she was about to explode with happiness. She wished this moment could last forever because it was perfect.
She raised her head and looked into his eyes which were staring at her intensely. Her stomach tensed up when he lifted her chin and pressed his lips on hers. She enjoyed the feeling of his soft lips and just opened her mouth when someone tapped Noah on the shoulder.
“Excuse me Alpha Grey. The other Alphas want to talk to you.”
Noah grunted annoyed, “Can’t it wait? I am busy.”
The man shook his head, “No sorry they said it was urgent.”
Noah sighed and reluctantly let go of her. He kissed her hand and winked before he said, “Don’t go anywhere. I want to finish our dance.”
Lola watched him walk away and pressed her fingers against her lips who were still tingling from the sensation of their kiss. But she had no intention of waiting here like a good little puppy. If they wanted to tell Noah something so urgently, she sure as hell was going to find out what it was.
