Chapter 45
Sansa's Pov
"Let's go!" Vera stated
"Where?" I inquired, intrigued.
"Don't you want to get out of here?" Vera inquired.
"Yes," I said, hoping.
"Let me show you the way out," Vera said, and her words blessed me.
I held her hand without doubt when she extended her hand to take mine. We were on our way to my fate. Every second brought me closer to my current goal.
She knew the exact location, as I had discovered numerous times.
My mind was preoccupied with my future with Logan, and my heart was eager to reach out to him.
I was relieved to be out of there, and I resolved never to see Xavier again in my life.
"Do you think Xavier will let Logan live after you get out of here?" Vera's unexpected words killed me.
My steps came to a halt in shock, as if there was a ditch one step ahead of me. I let go of her hand. My mind was blanked out by the dark clouds of sadness. My heart began to race as a result of my fear.
"You're only one step away from your goal!" Vera stated in hushed tones.
She reached out her hand to take mine. I was unsure and dissatisfied at the time. not even a desire to flee. I didn't even make my legs move.
Her words were like a strong chain that I couldn't break to make progress. I cleared my throat because my mind was racing.
"Let's go," Vera said again.
I became engrossed in deep thought. I left Logan to save him. I gave my life to save the only one I had ever loved. I was living in hell with a stranger I barely knew to keep Logan safe from Xavier.
"Come along with me!" Vera's voice was echoing and fading.
When my gaze was fixed on her, my mind was disturbed; she was slowly fading away. The brightness of the light was increasing. My vision became hazy.
After a split second, my blurry vision revealed Vera, who was staring at me on the bed with her big, mysterious eyes while sitting on the chair in my room.
Was Vera aware of Logan, or was it all a dream? Or was it just my desire to meet Logan manifesting itself in a dream?
I pushed myself up against the bed, unsure whether she was Vera or Hina.
"Good morning," she said, breaking the silence.
"Good morning, Hina," I said, still unsure whether she was Vera or Hina.
"Did you get enough sleep?" I inquired.
"Thanks to you," she said softly.
When Vera took over her body, her eyes became attractive. Her innocent eyes were honest and had an empty vibe. I assumed her name was Hina. We both fell silent for a moment. Finding words to connect with
"I don't know what's going to happen next; I'm too new to make any decisions here; I did what I could, which I believe everyone should have done," I knew I'd messed up and would have to pay a high price.
"You are kind, Lady Sansa, unlike everyone else here," she said softly.
I was watching her; she had so much to say but was only speaking on a few topics.
"Not everyone is concerned about the well-being of others; I don't understand how they can let someone suffer without concern," she lamented.
"The world is full of selfish creatures; we don't know what exam we'll have to complete without error," I said quietly.
For a brief moment, Hina and I were deafeningly silent. The breeze coming in through the balcony caused the curtain to fly.
"We are born to clear the errors in our lives; some take a lifetime, while others never clear the errors. Isn't it true that life is cruel?" Hina stated
Her words were deeply connected to the pain and cruelty of life that I had witnessed.
"Yes, life is for us," I said.
"My mother sold me as a slave to a wealthy man for a pittance of money. I was 7 years old at the time. That man who bought me assaulted me. He used to hit me." Hina's voice was trembling.
Hearing about her bad experience in my childhood broke my heart.
"Working in the fields meant working six days a week from sunrise to sunset and eating food that was sometimes unfit for an animal to eat. Slaves were housed on plantations in small shacks with dirt floors and little or no furniture. Life on large plantations was frequently the most difficult, with a cruel overseer." She disclosed
Life had been cruel to her, and she, like me, was a victim. Nobody was there for her, as no one was there for me. I wanted to protect her because she reminded me of myself.
"Then Alpha Xavier came one day with a bunch of the Oak Pack members, and he set the price, which man could not deny; I had been sold twice," Hina lamented.
Her eyes were about to get wet, and I could see the sadness on her face.
"Xavier drove me to the top of the mountain. I tried to flee, but every time I struggled, I was captured, but Alpha Xavier never helped me, instead standing there like a statue. You are different."
Her words made me hate Xavier even more. I knew he only worked because he wanted to do anything to help himself.
"You will not receive justice if you remain silent. You stated that you do not want to return, but Vera told me something that I need to clarify with you as well," I said.
"You can ask anything," Hina said softly.
"According to Vera, someone from the oak pack harmed you."
Hina was taken aback because she had not expected to be listened to.
Her eyes switched from left to right, as did her dry throat and her suddenly nervous body.
"Is that correct?" I was intrigued and wanted to learn the truth.
When I was watching Hina's wrist wound, she was hiding by pulling her full sleeves up.
"Do you believe Vera or me?" She posed the most difficult query.
What if I had said her name and Vera was listening to me from the inside of her body?
"I trust who would tell me something to trust; I wanted to know before I put my trust in one of you," I said.
Hina wanted to tell me something, but something was preventing her from doing so. She was visibly upset and wanted to break her silence because she was finding it difficult to speak about the situation.
"I—-" Vera was unable to finish her sentence.
"You've got someone from the mountain!" The voice came from outside.
I walked over to the balcony and was astounded to see Maya surrounded by 20 mountain guards.
My heart was racing, and I had no idea what to do; this was unexpected.
"We are here to claim!" yelled a guard.
Hina was standing behind me on the balcony, terrified and staring down at Maya.
"We won't repeat it if you don't send her out; we have the authority to take her forcibly, and anyone who gets in the way will be held accountable for their actions," a guard warned us.
