"Y-Yeah, she's hot and single! You look good together!" I said with a lace of bitterness.
I saw his lips lifted, moving closer and lowering his head even more which leveled our eyes.
"I don't like women without thrill..." he said huskily.
My lips hanged loosely in disbelief.
"You know that I only like one woman..." he paused and licked his lower lip before biting it hard.
"And it's you..."
We were silent as we drove back to the Villa. I didn't manage to go back to the restaurant so I just messaged Zuay that I went home because of feeling sick.
Ellwood remained silent the whole time. He didn't open a new topic as we took the path home.
He stopped his car in front of the gate and turned the car's engine off.
At that point, I turned to him and his eyes met mine. The same intensity that I saw everytime that our eyes had contact which never failed to make me agitated.
"Thank you for dropping me off."
I averted my eyes and starting removing my seatbelt. I attempted to unfasten it a few times with my shaking hands before I succeeded.
I faced him know more, seeing him confidently leaning against his car chair with his arms crossed and a smile that never failed to make my heart shudder.
"G-Goodnight," i muttered.
He didn't answer, instead, he only nodded.
I bit my lip hard and nodded slowly. I turned to the door to open it but as expected, it was locked.
I filled my lungs with minty air and turned my gaze at him. But nothimg came out from me. I'm choking deep in my throat. I couldn't stop my heart from beating erratically.
"W-Will you open this... door, please?" I said lowly.
"I'll let you out of this car once you answer my question. What's the reason of your tears earlier?"
He stared at me, as if trying to read my mind.
My eyes dropped to my lap. Why did I cry? Maybe I was just hurt, it hurts to see another woman stealing his attention aside from me. Or maybe I'm selfish who wants a place in his heart more than anyone else.
"Maybe I was just tired. I walked around the mall all afternoon earlier," I lied.
Silence surfaced. He didn't respond, he just remained silent...
I heaved a sigh before holding to door handle, which was thankfully unlocked now. I turned to Ellwood's direction once more.
"Uh, thank you again..." I mumbled.
I didn't wait for his answer and opened the door. I was about to leave his car, but I almost shrieked when his arms stopped me. Because of his strength, he easily managed to pull me back inside.
In a split seconds, his hand illegally grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me closer to his. And before I knew, our lips entwined with a kiss.
Because of being baffled, I didn't react. My heart was thumping hard against my ribcage. My body was shaking and melting bit by bit.
His unlawful hand slowly caressed my back and I fell gracefully at his firm hard chest. My lips started to kiss back and made way for his wild tongue.
Damn! Why did I let him kiss me like this? Why did I let him touch me like he owns me? And why did I let him catch my breath and hold my heart in a tight grip?
Before I could even realize the answer, I pulled him away. He moved and gave distance but he was still gripping my hand.
"You kissed me back..." he said in a sharp breath.
I quickly bit my lip because I couldn't accept that fact.
"You did, Emory.."
His hands cupped my cheeks. His eyes were hot and dark. I can feel his heavy breathing burning me.
He tucked my hair before staring at my eyes.
"What did you feel, tell me?" he asked huskily.
I closed my eyes and shook my head repeatedly. I don't what to say. I'm still confused. This isn't right. This is so wrong...
I blew out a breath and bowed my head down.
"I-I'm sorry, I can't do this..."
I abruptly turned around and went out of the car. I walked briskly imside the Villa and ran towards my room.
That's where I let all my anger and regrets out. Anger for myself because I let my hy heart melt for another man, even if I couldn't love him back. But here I am, acting like a jealous girlfriend.
I regretted why I let myself drown into my emotions. Maybe I am just desperate. Desperate of knowing who really loves me. A person who could fill the longing of my heart for the past years. Maybe I just wanted to feel loved again.
I'm scared that I would also lose Ellwood. Because if that happens, no one will be left.
The next day, I woke up with puffy eyes. I didn't know what time I fell asleep last night. My heart feels so heavy that I'm lazy to move around or eat.
I chose to waste my time on the lounge in front of the pool, reading a book. But I couldn't seem to focus as I kept on glancing on my phone. I was waiting for a massage from Ellwood.
I texted him a few times but there's no reply. I feel sorry for what happened last night. It wasn't my intention to hurt him. I know that I don't have the rights, especially on leading him on.
He was just true to his feelings and I wasn't. Until now, I sitll regretted what happened last night. I hope it's not the end of our friendship yet.
Because of being too tired, I easily dozed off and got startled by the sounds coming from my phone.
I quickly reached for it, thinking it was Ellwood but I instantly felt scared when I saw Alessandra's name.
I took a deep breath before sliding into the answer button.
"Hello..." I said in a hoarse voice.
"Meredith, where are you? The party is about to start!" she said over the phone.
I massaged my temple and looked above the dark sky. I slept too much that I didn't even notice the time.
"Uh, where's the venue?" I asked, uninterested.
I stood up and went inside the Villa. I turned on the lights and went upstairs.
"Didn't U tell you? It's at Sweet Garden near Newtown," she said.
I stiffened. Sweet Garden? That's where our reception happened when Hezekiah and I got married before.
I held my phone tighly and bit my lower lips to stop myself from saying something bad.
"You probably know that place, right?"
"Of course, I do!" I couldn't help but to raise my voice.
"That's great! I already informed the guard about you since you're not in the invitation. Just say your name, alright?" Her voice was full of happiness.
I heaved a sigh. "I'll take a bath and prepare for the party, see you!"
I didn't wait for her reply and quickly pressed the end button. I threw the phone on the bed and slumped beside it.
This is too much! For all of the places that they could celebrate the event, why there? I harshly washed my palms on my face. I can't help but to shiver in anger. Damn it! I should be in her place. Nothing will happen if I'll just sulk here and wait for the night to end without doing anything!
I bravely stood up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I made sure to wash myself eagerly, scrubbing my thighs and legs, even my elbows and arms.
