I clasped my hand together underneath the table. I can't deny that it pains me when I heard those words come out from their mouth. For all we know, I was the one who pushed myself on Hezekiah from the start. I did everything just for him to notice me so I understand why their this mad at Hezekiah.
"We better not talk about it right now. It's not good to talk about someone who's not here," Ellwood said.
"True! If we keep on talking about him, my night will be ruined!" Zuay rolled her eyes.
Because of that, no one asked about Hezekiah. I was silently thankful for Ellwood. If he's not here, I'm sure no one would answer their questions.
"You really don't have a girlfriend until now? How about your recent relationship with Pia? You lasted quite long, huh?" Zuay asked him with a playful smile on her face.
His lips lifted while swirling the wine aroumd the glass.
"Maybe, we're not meant for each other..."
His eyes went to me which made me wet my lips and drop my eyes onto my glass.
"Aw! That's sad!" Zuay said, caressing Ellwood's arm and leaning onto his shoulder.
I swallowed hard when he bowed his head and looked at her with twitched lips.
"Stop it, Zuay! You only drank wine. You're not drunk yet, don't you fool us!" Tawin said irritably.
I wanted to laugh at Tawin's remarks but I couldn't. I noticed her going closer to Ellwood. Her hands was already at his waist, she even laid her head against his firm chest jerkily.
"Tss... both of you are taken so you don't know the word spell of charm." Zuay tugged her lips, moving closer to Ellwood.
I smiled bitterly, dropping my eyes down at my glass wine. I raised it and drank it straight.
I blew out a breath when I put it back on the table. When I lifted my head, I saw Ellwood's serious gaze staring on me.
Zuay and Tawin kept on bickering about a lot of things. My heart already soared by watching him caressing Zuay's shoulder. Even how he subtly combed her hair didn't escape my eyes.
Damn it. Not hesitating, I poured the remaining wine inside the bottle on my glass and drank it straight. I shut my eyes firmly, savoring the heat gushing through my throat.
"I think it's better if we drank martini or tequila, right?" Zuay suggested.
"Haha, you really want to get drunk, huh?!" Tawin said.
"It's fine by me," Ellwood said and looked straight to my eyes with brows hitched a little.
He leaned against the lounge and spread his arms, reaching Zuay's nape.
I rolled my eyes and dropped my gaze to the empty glass. Wine is my favorite. Ellwood introduced me that wine, it's better than any alcoholic beverages I've had known. Fortunately, I'm not yet drunk.
My eyes went to them. Tawin was busy with her phone while chewing the food in her mouth.
Then, I glanced at both of them. They seemed to be getting along and comfortable at each other as I saw Zuay occasionally tapping his broad shoulders.
Even if Ellwood kept on glancing at me, I didn't spare him attention. Instead, I dropped my eyes on my plate which had a smoke ham pasta and tenderloin steak. I grimaced and looked at the newly served bottle of martini.
I pour a little bit of content in my glass and swirled it slowly. I wanted to get wasted tonight. I've been feeling mixed emotions which kept on bothering me.
I drank it straight and felt immense heat rising up my throat as I felt its effect kick in my stomach.
"Would you mind asking why you broke up with Pia?" Zuay asked.
I lifted my eyes to peek at them. Again, I caught a glimpse of his dark eyes looking hard at me. This time, I didn't remove my eyes. I wanted t9 hear his explanation as to why they ended their five-year relationship.
"There are just things that we can't force," he said and drank his glass of whiskey.
He threw a glance at me which made me feel nervous. So, I shifted on my seat uncomfortably. I couldn't last his stares.
"Give us a specific answer please?" Zuay pouted her lips. She beamed at her and held at his chest.
I crossed my arms over my chest and averted my gaze irritably. I tried to stop myself from pulling her hair because of how flirty she was.
"I loved someone else..." I heard him answer.
I felt my body stiffened as I felt his heated stares on me. I heaved a sigh and took a sip from my glass.
"Who's the lucky girl, then?" Zuay interviewed.
I held my breath as I poured another drink. If I could just empty out this bottle to loose my sanity, I already did.
"It's a secret for now..." he answered cryptically.
"Hmm, I'm sure she's not here right now. So can you love me for tonight?" Zuay seductively said.
Before Ellwood could even utter a word, she shamelessly held Ellwood's nape and made him look at her. His hand slowly caressed her back making her move closer.
"Go, push that, girl!" Tawin cheered.
I stared at them without blinking. How they're so close at each other. I couldn't take it, so I suddenly stood up from my seat.
"Uh, I'll just go to the washroom..."
I didn't wait for their respomd because I quickly turned around and went out of the room. My strides were long as I took the path outside.
My eyes were slowly clouded with tears. Pain burned in my heart, there's something wrong in what I feel but I just can't stop it from feeling that way.
It can't be, this is wrong. I harshly wiped my tears that fell from my eyes. I know that some costumers were staring at me but I care less.
I walked toward the glass door when someone grabbed my hand tightly. I don't need to face him to know who je was.
"Where are you going?" he said in deep throaty voice over my head.
I bit my lower lip and pulled my hand away, but he didn't let me do that. Instead, he pulled me out of the restaurant.
"Let go of me!" I shouted.
He didn't hear my pleas and pulled me until we reached the parking space where his car was parked.
"Just fucking let me go, Ellwood!" My voice cracked.
I was not ready of what he did next. He grabbed my hand tightly and whirled me around. He forcefully made me lean on his car.
He managed to trap me inside his arms because of his height, hand on the roof of the car over my head.
My lips dropped openly as I watched how his jaw clenched so hard, eyes drilling into mine.
"Where did those tears came from, huh?" he asked in a soft tone.
I rolled my eyes and wiped my tears.
"It's none of your business. I want to go home. If you want to stay and continue flirting with Zuay, then go. I don't care!"
A small laugh rolled out of him. He gently lowered his head and beamed at me.
"Your friend, Zuay? She's hot..."
I gasped and bit my bottom lip. Damn it! He doesn't need to slap it on me!
I wanted to open my lips to scoff at him but I couldn't utter a word when our eyes met.
His eyes were dark and mysterious. There is something about his eyes that I couldn't explain. Something pure and real. A thing that I failed to notice before...
I squeezed my eyes shut and forced myself to forget that discovery. I, then, bravely stared at him and tried to calm my erratic heart.
