"Your mom loved you so much..." he said with full voice.
I shut my eyes close before raising my gaze to him.
"You don't know what you are talking about," I shot back.
He heaved a sigh before he gripped my arm once again. His eyes looked dim and serious, like he doesn't agree to what I said.
"She did what she thought was right. Because she knows what's better for you."
I chuckled humorlessly. "Right? Do you think it's right that she seperated me from my husband? I'm her daughter, I'm not a stranger that she should hide secrets from!"
"It is for your own good..."
I was stunned at what I heard. His words sat precariously on my skin, enough to enforce the intended message to my heart.
"You knew it?!" I asks with disbelief.
My throat and my heart held in a silver grasp. I held my breath as I waited for his reply.
"What Tita did was right. That bastard screwed you. He married someone else even if he knew he left a wife here..." he said with deep resolute voice.
My eyes were filled with utter rage. My heart contracted in pain. I knew that he was never favor of Zekiah, but I didn't know that it would reach to this point.
"You knew it?! You agreed to be Mom's puppet just to seperate me from Zekiah?" I uttered with shaky voice.
I pushed him with a force. I was enraged, but he did not flinch or remove his eyes from me.
"What more do I not know, huh? What secrets have I yet to know?!" My eyes were burning and my chest felt heavy. I couldn't believe what he said.
He remained stoic with no visible emotion. He shook his head before he pulled my arm to him abruptly.
My heart thumped rapidly against my chest. I raised my eyes to him.
His dark stares melted and it turned into a cold ice.
"I did those things because I love you. Yes, I knew it! I knew that Tita did that so that you could forget about Hezekiah. I tried to stop her because I don't want you to get hurt, because I don't wanna see you crying like he was the end of the road for you, just because deep in my heart I know that I'm inlove you..." his voice was deep with an serious tone.
He squeezed his eyes shut and gritted, he shook his head again before meeting my eyes.
"I'm tired of seeing you cry and im pain, because my heart breaks into pieces whenever I see you miserable because of him."
He paused, observing my face. My lips were parted, I could feel my heart stopped beating for about a second, my feet went cold as I couldn't utter a single coherent word.
"I have loved you ever since. I don't know when it started, but one thing's for sure, this..." He pointed at his chest, "This fucking thing is wildly beating for you..." he said in a softer tone.
His hard expression turned into a soft and emotional Ellwood.
My eyes went to the floor. I bit my tongue, trying to hold my tears that threatened to welled up my eyes.
"I don't wanna see your face anymore..." I uttered shakily.
I stepped backwards to free myself from him, but he didn't let me. I raised my head and met with his eyes again.
"I hate you! I hate you for doing this to me, you are my bestfriend!" I said painfully.
He didn't talk, instead, he pulled me into a hug. I forced myself out, I punched his chest repeatedly as my tears streamed down my face.
"Just fucking leave me alone..." I said in a hoarse voice.
I'm tired of fighting. I felt like I got no one to lean on but myself. My tiredness made me limp, my legs almost failing beneath me.
I continued punching his chest until I got tired and just let him embrace me. He moved his hand and gently caressed my back, hugging me tight and trying to soothe me and telling me that everything will be okay.
But my numb body could not feel anything except for the pain of his betrayal. I couldn't feel the heat of his love for me because it changed into anger and hatred.
We were silent as we drove back to Villa Rosa. He presented to take me back home even though I said that I don't want to see him anymore.
Silenced echoed in my ears, my eyes were already red and puffy from crying. My vision was still blurry and misty from the endless tears that clouded my eyes.
I was completely and utterly alone in my mind, body and soul. I couldn't think of anything but to isolate myself in my room and burst everything out on my bed.
We walked straight to my room. He still haven't left me although I never talked to him.
I laid down and hugged the pillow beside me. He gently placed my blanket on me, he also removed my shoes himself. I shut my eyes and pressed my cheek to the cool, velvet pillows.
I can still feel his presence at the edge of the bed. He still didn't leave even when I was ready to sleep. I hugged the duvet a little tighter, I turned my back on him and buried myself at the other end of the bed.
He remained at his position for about a few minutes more, until I heard him heave a sigh as I felt him stand up. Then, I heard his heavy steps walking out of the room.
I bit my tongue as I heard the door close behind me. At that point, my tears cascaded down.
If I could just hurt myself to at least alleviate the pain I was feeling inside, I would. But I couldn't. I didn't stop crying until I ran out of tewrs.
My eyes opened like a night shadow on deep water. I peeked at the curtain and realized that the surroundings were enveloped with darkness.
I laid back and stared at the ceiling. My lips quivered and slammed my eyes shut.
I still want to sleep, because that's the only way I know that could ease the pain my heart was feeling.
I flinched when I heard my cellular phone ring at the night stand. I weakly reached for it and looked at the name registered on the screen.
I wetted my lips and sniffed. I decided to get up and answer the call.
"Hello..." I mumbled.
"Emory?! Finally, you answered my call. I've been calling you all afternoon..."
I looked down and gripped my comforter tightly.
"Why did you call?"
"What kind of question is that? You were the one who suddenly left. I was asking Gabriel about you but he remained mum. Do you have problems regarding work? I'll talk to Gabriel about it."
I sighed and walked towards the balcony. I closed my eyes at the cold breeze of the wind. I took and deep breath before speaking.
"I'm gonna resign..." I uttered lowly.
I didn't hear any response from her so I decided to sit at the metal chair and looked up the dark sky.
"Why? Does Gabriel treat you bad?" she aked.
I moved my lips and held my forehead. I calmed myself down before answering.
"It's not like that. Gabriel has always been good to me, we didn't have any problems. I just needed to go back to Queensland..." I muttered.
Again, silence lingered in the air. I can only hear Sandra's heavy sigh.
