The Strongest War God Chapter 2083

Chapter 2083: Cheated Death Chapter 2083: Cheated Death Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation Under everyone’s gaze, Braydon Neal strolled into the inn at a steady pace. A waiter, wearing a flattering smile, rushed toward him. He couldn’t afford to offend someone as ruthless as Braydon—if anything happened to him, he’d just have to consider himself unlucky. “Sir, what do you need?” the waiter asked nervously. Braydon casually glanced at the inn’s menu. “A bottle of burning knives and a serving of peanuts,” he said. “I hope I can finish this meal in peace. Otherwise, you should already know what will happen.” Braydon’s calm tone made sweat bead on the waiter’s forehead. “Understood, sir. I know what you mean.” The unspoken warning was clear—if there was anything wrong with the food, Braydon wouldn’t show mercy. He found a table and sat down, his gaze lingering briefly on the bloodstains marking the surface. This inn, like many of its kind, operated on the edge of legality, and everyone here knew it. Nobody dared to eat carelessly. Many wary eyes fixed on Braydon, but no one dared approach him. “The four tyrants of Life and Death sure had bad luck—they hit a brick wall this time.” “Who would’ve thought someone this good-looking could be so terrifying? He took out the four tyrants of Life and Death in an instant.” “Enough. Stop talking. If he hears you, you might end up as the next four tyrants.” As whispers about Braydon died down, conversations shifted to other topics. “Did you see what happened a few days ago?” “What are you talking about?” “Ten Thousand Buddha Mountain… The sky above it was thick with bloody aura and resentment.” “Yeah, I heard about it. A powerhouse at the ninth level told me something shocking—guess what?” “The nine tenth level experts at Ten Thousand Buddha Mountain were capturing living beings to extract their life force and extend their own.” “I heard it was a massacre. The ground was littered with corpses, and the soil had turned dark red.” “That’s not all. Two new tenth level experts, Fedele Licata and Daviel Toepfer, declared they’d destroy Ten Thousand Buddha Mountain. That shows just how terrifying they are.” “Tsk, tsk. At least the Myriad Demon Mountain is straightforward. They kill openly. No mercy, no hypocrisy. Everyone respects that.” Braydon sat quietly, absorbing the conversations around him. His purpose here was clear—to gather information about Life and Death Valley. From a corner table, a conversation caught his attention. “Do you guys know about the recent changes in Life and Death Valley?” “You mean the red light last night?” “Yeah. It doesn’t feel right. I’m staying away for now.” “Coward! What if it’s a sign of treasure?” Just then, the waiter returned with the wine and peanuts, setting them respectfully before Braydon. “Here you go, sir,” the waiter said. “Put them down,” Braydon replied, his eyes fixed on the table in the corner. He picked up the bottle and walked toward the group. Bang! The muffled sound of the bottle hitting the table drew everyone’s attention. The man in the corner, mid-sentence, fell silent. His face darkened, but seeing Braydon, he quickly forced a smile. “Little brother, what brings you to us?” “Continue,” Braydon said coldly. “I want to know what’s happening in Life and Death Valley. Consider this bottle of wine your payment.” If it were anyone else, the man might have cursed them out. But now, he exchanged a look with the burly man across the table. “Big brother?” The burly man waved a hand dismissively. “The information isn’t worth much. If this brother wants to know, tell him.” The man nodded, turning to Braydon. “Little brother, here’s the story. Over the past three days, a bright red light has enveloped Life and Death Valley.” “The light stretches across a hundred miles. Fortune tellers and diviners can’t discern whether it’s an omen of fortune or disaster.” “Even those fighting inside the valley were ejected. No one knows what’s happening, but powerful figures suspect some kind of transformation. When the valley reopens, something extraordinary will likely occur.” Braydon nodded, satisfied with the explanation. “Thanks for the information. If we meet in Life and Death Valley, I’ll show mercy.” He turned and walked toward the exit. “Sir, you haven’t paid,” the waiter called after him. Braydon pulled a small bloodstained bag from his sleeve. “This should cover it. Keep the extra as your tip,” he said, tossing it to the waiter. The waiter opened the bag and froze. It was filled with wealth—the spoils of the four tyrants of Life and Death. But instead of relief, terror gripped him. This was a death sentence in disguise. “Sir, I can’t accept this. Please, take it back. The meal’s on me,” the waiter stammered. Braydon paused, took the bag back, and handed him a few spirit stones instead. “Here. This will suffice.” With that, his figure blurred into a shadow and vanished. The remaining patrons watched, disappointed. “What a pity.” “Yeah, I thought we could snag some extra money.” Their murmurs only made the waiter tremble. He quickly secured the spirit stones, grateful to still be alive.
