Leah's Point of View
When I showed up, it was clear that Craig was shocked.
What does it mean? Are you afraid that your wife will find out? Or are you afraid that I might divorce you if I find out you have a lover, which would be bad for our business?
I just looked at them and moved on.
I went straight to the fridge and got the pitcher out to pour water, but my throat started to feel dry and like something was stuck in it. I can't believe he does this in our house.
I leaned against the bar counter and drank the water in my glass quickly. Maybe I was thinking so hard that I didn't notice who walked into the kitchen and came over to me.
"Where have you been?" As he talked, he stood next to me.
I laughed at him and then turned my attention back to the glass, where I played with the moisture. "I guess you think too much of yourself to ask that, while bringing a woman into my house?"
As I straightened up and walked off the slope, he clenched his jaw. Perhaps, he fired the maids in exchange for the lovely times he spent with Felicity.
"I'm asking nicely." He coldly said.
Maybe that was the most honest thing we did all day. This is the truth. He is acting cold and doesn't seem to care about me. The butterflies in my stomach seemed to have gone away. They looked like they were tired of playing.
"I gave you an answer, and I don't know or see why I should answer your question again."
When I was done talking, I looked out the kitchen window and saw the raptor vehicle drive away.
"Why do you act this way?" He grabbed my wrist and held it tight, making it impossible for me to move.
"What do you mean by 'this'?" I laughed out loud, but my eyes stayed cold. I shook my head as if I didn't like what he said. I let go of his grip and moved toward him to pull his arm off.
He pushed my body back toward the bar.
Since my back was hit there, I was a little hurt. I almost fell because my strength left my body. But before I could get back on my feet, I saw that his lips were stuck to mine.
He kissed me so hard that his kisses were so rough that they tore my lips.
I tried to push him, but he wouldn't even move. He tried to stick his tongue into my mouth, but I quickly shut it.
Now, he's holding both of my cheeks. I opened my mouth on purpose to let his tongue in because he didn't want to stop. When I felt how his tongue and breath burned, I bit it.
I could taste the liquid and the taste of rust on my tongue. After wiping the blood off my lips, I gave him a hard slap on the left cheek. The kitchen was filled with the sound of my hand. He put his hand on his face and turned his head to the right. His face didn't change.
I didn't bring up the subject of marriages that are set up by parents. Our relationship isn't really in good shape any more. I also don't understand why I should talk to him about it. I was wearing the ring, and we had signed the marriage licence and made a promise in front of God. Even though he wasn't totally honest with me, I enjoyed the months we spent together. When he made me feel like I had someone on my side and when he told me the truth behind all of his disguises.
If I speak, tears that shouldn't come out would trickle. My throat feels like it's full. I know that if I say something, I'll tell him everything I hate, and when he apologises, my heart will break all over again. That if he says he didn't mean to do it, it's like nothing happened and everything goes back to square one. I will get better, and I might go back to him.
During the months that I was blind by the truth, I let him do everything. I didn't ask why he was so close to Aunt Joana, why he was on the phone, or if the conversation was suspicious. I agreed because he said he would explain and tell me when it's finally time.
After a few moments of silence, I pushed him, and he moved away. I ran up the stairs and shut the door hard behind me. I looked down at my lips, which had turned red because of how rough his kiss had been and because blood had gotten on them.
"Let's meet later.. I'll tell you everything that have happened." I said to Megan over the phone.
And while we were talking on the phone, I received a text message. I have no idea who it was, but the message scared me.
"The past holds the secret."
I quickly get out of bed. I looked at the number carefully, but I don't know who owns it.
Because I don't know who to contact anymore, I decided to dial Rayleigh's number.
I let the phone ring four more times before he picked up. “Hello. Good morning. This is Rayleigh Holden. How can I help you?"
Even though he was on the other line, he was polite. He sounds like a businessman.
He even acts like he doesn't want to go to events, but this is how a professional businessman would act. His tone was also very different on the other line than when he was talking to Megan and I.
"This is Thea, Ray."
"Oh! Thea! Why did you call?" His voice came back. It's funny to think that he can be both friendly and professional. I just don't understand why he doesn't like Megan.
"Ray, do you know anyone who can figure out who unknown texted you and from where the phone number was?"
“Why? What's going on?" Now, the tone of the voice changed. How does he do so many different voices?
"Someone sent me a text message. When I tried to call back or reply, I got a message that the number no longer exists. I also want to know what they used to get in touch with me."
“I see. I know a certain person. I'm not sure if he's still doing what you asked. Though, we can go to him.”
