Thea's Point of View
As the screen showed his face, I was able to see his displeased expression. I can literally see his annoyed face because of the work they have given to him.
"Look at your face." I laughed so hard that it made him scowl an even deeper frown.
"I hate working here. I just want to be with you everyday."
"It's barely noon, yet you're already itching to go back to your house. How on earth are you going to run a trustworthy company if you act like that?" I get a kick out of making fun of him.
I had anticipated that he would stop arguing at this point, but his response seemed reasonable. "I can do it at home."
"You are a complete idiot. I'll hang up the call now, and you can go back to work."
"I will go home now—" The image of his frozen visage on the screen prevented him from completing his sentence.
It got lagged. And because it seemed possible that he was just being silly, I chose to disregard what he had to say.
*Ding dong*
When I was getting ready, someone rang the bell on the front door. I am now wearing a dress that has a V-neck, is long and fitting, and has a cut on the legs.
I also have a black belt that has a gold square in the middle of it. I completed my outfit with a gray purse and black stilettos as my accessories.
It's the driver who will pick me up.
After the maid opened the door, I asked the driver to drop me off at the company and use the car in our garage.
We arrived at the building without notifying Jackson. As I walked by, employees formed a line. When I stepped into the elevator and pressed the 16th button because that's what the front desk told me to do.
After 2 minutes, I arrived at the office and saw that the walls are made of glass. Because the hallway was so large, I had no idea where my office was.
I went to the end and turned left until I saw two large offices. On the left, the office sofa is empty, and on the right, Mason and Aunt Joana are sitting on it, while Jackson is standing and saying something.
I would have approached them and asked if the open position next to Mason's office was mine. However, I couldn't do so when my phone rang loudly as I approached the door and gradually heard their voices but it wasn't clear.
They all cocked their heads to the side and peered at me in a way that suggested they had seen a ghost.
They were all pale as sheets when they came face to face with me. It seemed as if a dead lady had emerged from the dungeon.
When my phone began beeping again, I stopped what I was doing and looked at each one in turn and answered the call.
"Why—"
I hadn't even completed my line yet when Craig welcomed me on the other line with a sigh of anger.
"Didn't I tell you that I'd be coming home early?"
“What? You never told me," I defended.
Suddenly, I recalled that he had said something earlier, but I couldn't hear it since the connection had been severed.
"I'm making my way to the top. Don't leave where you are!" He yelled.
After hanging off the phone, I went up to the three persons who seemed to be nailed at their position. When I got closer, Aunt Joana was the first person to approach me.
“T-Thea...! When did you get here, and how long have you been standing there?" She queried while looking across to Mason and Jackson.
"Thea!"
When I was ready to react, I heard a loud voice shout my name. I turned to see and saw Craig gasping for air.
After a few seconds of frantically trying to catch his breath, he came jogging up to me with a heavy stride. My arm was wrenched away from my aunt Joana as Craig gripped and pulled it.
I expressed my confusion by raising one eyebrow.
"Why did you come here?! I told you not to leave the house!"
"That should be my question. Why are you here?"
"I... I'm—" He could not complete what he wants to say.
"Craig was alerted about your arrival here after I was briefed about it by Jackson."
Aunt Joana was the one who completed what he was trying to say since he was unable to do it himself.
"What for?" I don't need their worries for me. And how could Jackson know about my arrival when I didn't even tell him about it?"
They were unable to answer my question, so I continued talking, "Is there anything I didn't know that I should know about?"
I saw them get startled by my inquiry.
"N-no! Nothing. It's just, you went here without saying anything or informing anyone. What if you suddenly pass out? You should continue to rest. We are solely worried about it." The response came from Aunt Joana.
During this time, Jackson showed no sign of moving. Mason, who had been doing nothing more than listening, got to his feet.
Mason smiled and put his arm over my shoulder before telling me, "Thea, they're only concerned about you."
“I've been able to rest for a long time. That's all. I can handle the business because I've been studying it for a while. Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin the company.”
