“Landon, can you please explain to me what happened? I am the only one that can help you talk to her.” Peter said looking at Landon who looked so sad.
“I didn’t mean to hurt her, I just didn’t want to lose the both of you. When you told me you were going to donate your last kidney to her, I became worried. I didn’t want you to die because of her, moreover, I started all these.”
“That same day, I met Alex in the hospital, he didn’t see me but I did see him. He walked out of the doctor's office and then out of the hospital. I was so curious to know what he was there for, so I went to the doctor to ask him.”
“Then he told me that Alex had come to donate his kidney to Kimberly, and he claimed to have two clean kidneys. I was happy and at the same time sad about the news. We needed a kidney and we got one, but not from our enemy. I was confused and didn’t know what to do. So the doctor advised me to act like I know nothing and let him donate it.” Peter narrated.
“Didn’t the doctor think he would want something in return? Even if it’s money?” Peter asked and Landon nodded.
“He knew and that is why he asked Alex to sign a contract paper. I told him that Alex wouldn’t just donate the kidney to Kimberly, I made him understand that he wanted Kim. But then he said if Alex wouldn’t tell him the reason for the donation, we have no problems.” Landon said and Peter seemed super confused.
“How do you mean?” Peter further inquired.
“That means, in the written contract Alex would be signing, it would be stated there that he won’t be accepting anything in return except we give him an appreciation fee or something. He portrayed himself to the doctor as a good friend, and so shall it be in front of the law.” Landon further included.
“So you mean Kimberly is safe?” Peter asked.
“According to the law and contract, if Alex tries anything stupid because of the donor, he would be thrown into jail because he had signed the contract already,” Landon uttered and Peter sighed in relief.
“Now I am relieved. This should be easy to say to Kimberly.” Peter commented and Landon shook his head slowly.
“I don’t think it would be easy this time. I did everything behind her.” Landon muttered sadly.
“You did it because she wouldn’t let you do it if she knew. She would understand this because she did the same thing for you when you were ill.” Peter said and Landon breathed out heavily.
“I just feel she wouldn’t forgive me that easily. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with Alex at all and now his kidney lies in her body. She is furious at me.” He said bowing his head.
“Wait here, I would go talk to her,” Peter said walking up to the stairs and heading to Landon's room where he guessed Kimberly would be.
He knocked on the door and when he got to respond, he turned the doorknob and the door gave way.
“Kimberly,” Peter called in a solemn voice. He saw her sitting on the bed, her left folded against her chest and her head resting on her knees.
He got closer and he could hear her sobbing.
“Kimberly.” He called with so many emotions and she raised her head to look at him. Her eyes were all red and swollen.
“Dad.” She called standing up, running to him, and hugging him tightly.
“Baby, it is fine okay? You will be just fine.” Peter said petting her back as she hugged him.
“Why did he let him have his way? Now Alex is a part of me.” Kimberly mumbled on Peter's shoulders and Peter shook his head.
“Do not blame Landon. He did what he thought and knew was best for you.” He said and Kimberly disengaged and looked at him.
“How is that the best for me dad?” She asked.
“I wanted to give you my kidney before, I have only one left in case you don’t know.” He said and her eyes widened.
“One left? How come?” She asked sitting on the chair and he sat next to her.
“I sold one to make Racheal happy. Let’s not go there now. But you know that means if Landon had allowed me to give you mine, I would be a dead man now.” Peter said and Kim nodded in surprise.
“Why would you even think of giving it to me when you know it would cost your life?” Kim asked.
“Because you are my daughter and I want you to be happy. Landon heard of my plans and was totally against him. He didn’t want to lose the both of us.” Peter explained.
“so he asked for Alex's help?” she asked and Peter shook his head.
“Alex came all by himself to give you his kidney since his two were working perfectly. Though his intentions are not Pure. When Landon knew what was going on, he asked the doctor for help and the doctor advised that he should let Alex donate the Kidney. The Doctor made a written contract that he promised not to accept anything in return for the donor and he signed it.” Peter said smiling.
“So he doesn’t have the power to do anything to me?” she asked and Peter shook his head.
“He does it and would end up in Jail. So you shouldn’t be angry with Landon, he just wants to see you happy.” He said and she nodded slowly.
“I was just frustrated knowing Alex is a part of me already and I owe him my life. This is a thought that would ever hunt me for life.” She said in tears.
“Kimberly,” Landon called sadly as he entered the room.
“Landon.” She ran to him and hugged him tightly.
“I am so sorry, baby.” He said and she nodded in tears.
“It's fine. Thank you so much, I love you.” She mumbled in tears.
