Xander Redent
Never in my life, I felt so numb and felt my heart was crushing inside. It was amazing that I felt that just because of one sentence, "Now, I want to officially announce that me and Athena are engaged."
After that sentence ends, I feel like my world falls down in front of my eyes. My chest was hurting and my ears were not functioning for a few seconds. My whole body turned so numb and my head started to spin around.
I never expected for her to show up in front of my face after 7 years and after that slapped me with this engagement news.
"I thought she was trying to take you away from me, but she's engaged to the future King." Lindsey said and I took a glass of wine in front of me drinking it like it's water.
Athena and Jacob walked back to their seats which right beside my table. I kept my eyes on Athena and she caught it but she looked away right away. I got up from my seat because I need a fresh air.
"Where are you going?"
"Toilet." I answered Lindsey and she let me go. I walked out from the room and decided to go to one of the balcony. I closed my eyes and let the wind hit my face to calm me down.
"You don't need to be so shock about her engagement, Xander." I turned to see my bestfriend, Parker, walking towards me with 2 glasses of wine. I took one from him and drank it like it's water.
"I guess.. she's doing well for the past 7 years." I said completely feel exhausted suddenly.
"You know Athena's character, Xander. She won't go down that easily." Parker said and I nodded.
"She showed up at my office 2 hours before this event with a lawsuit on her hands." I stated and Parker raised his eyebrows.
"It's about the building in Colorado, apparently my employee gave the wrong document when we're building it." I said and Parker nodded.
"How are you feeling?"
"It feels like my world crashing down." I answered honestly.
"You still like her a lot huh? After all this time?" Parker asked and I sighed nodding.
"It's crazier than I thought. She still gave me the same affect just like 7 years ago. I can't believe it." I said and Parker chuckled.
"But now you can't do anything about it. She's engaged and soon she will get married. I mean.. Athena Camery is not bad." I know Parker was trying to push my button but I turned to him glaring instead flying my fist to his face.
"Wow.. this is my first time seeing Xander Redent turning himself into a loser."
"Do you think I will go for her just because they're announcing their engagement? This is reality not some kind of movie, Parker!"
"Then.. suit yourself, Redent. Then try to ask yourself why you're out here." Parker patted my shoulder and left me alone. I sighed and closed my eyes. I decided to go back to the room and sat down on my seat. Lindsey's not here and I'm assuming that she went to the toilet. I turned my head to Athena's table and guess what? Athena was alone while Prince Jacob was going around the room mingling with everybody.
I got up from my seat planning to go to her but my legs were betraying me. I sat down again and looking at the glass of water in front of me. I looked it blankly and then I got up from my seat walking towards Athena. I sat on the seat beside her and she looked at me coldly.
"Congratulations, Athena." I said and I know that sounds so stupid.
"Thankyou, Xander." She said in a really cold tone.
"Never thought you will engaged to Jacob Camery." I said and she raised her eyebrows.
"Are you done?"
"Are you going to leave him later on like you leave me 7 years ago?" I asked with a mix of anger and coldness. She turned to me and slapped my face. I looked at her disbelief and she looked at me angrily.
"Leave you like 7 years ago? Do you hear yourself, Xander? Try to look at yourself to the mirror and reflect. Is it you or is it me? How dare you put everything on me?" She said coldly and then she got up from her seat.
"So.. you're the one who made Redent and Lemiere like this now?" I asked coldly without looking at her.
"You're the one who made our relationship like this, Xander." She said and then she left me alone. I looked blankly to the table and got up. I saw people around me looking at me curiously. I turned my head towards my table and I saw my dad looking at me coldly. I need to get out of here.
I walked out from the room without caring about Lindsey or any other people that I have to mingle. I walked myself out from the room and found Athena with Prince Jacob talking. I hate seeing it. I walked pass them and called my chauffer to come to pick me up.
"Xander!" I turned to see Prince Jacob and I smiled.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked as I hugged him briefly.
"I'm good and I'm engaged." That's why I want to punch you so bad.
"Congratulations." I said not in a welcome or happy tone but in a flat tone.
"Babe, Mr. Ren is looking for you." Athena came out and her eyes landed on me. She turned her eyes back to Jacob and Jacob nodded.
"I'll see you around, Redent." He said and then he walked in. I grabbed Athena's hand preventing her to follow him and Athena turned to me.
"Let go!" She hissed as she tried to take her hands from me.
"We need to talk, Athena."
"I'm busy and I don't have time to talk to you." She said and I let her go. She walked back in and I turned my body around to get into my car.
"What am I thinking?"
