" Sir, this girl is the one who started the fight. She twisted Amelia's wrist and then slapped Kevin.", Sophia tells the principal whilst pointing at Grace
" No sir, they are actually the ones who started it.", Grace says glaring at Sophia. " We were simply walking to the locker room. Then these four came to us to fight."
" Shut up ! All of you come to my office right now !", Principal roars at Grace and then barges to his office. A few other teachers disperses the crowd who had gathered around the scene.
Tony and the three of them has prominent smirks on their faces as the eight of us follows the Principal to his office. Their faces say that they are just going to get out of this easily and we are the ones going to get punishment.
Apparently the other guy who fought Tony is Ethan's friend and his name is Gavin. Ethan and he were conversing with each other, tensely as we walked to the office. I too was really nervous. But Grace seemed really cool.
" Nothing to worry Nate.", Grace say squeezing my hands as we step into the office.
A male teacher also enters the office along with us. " Wait here ! ", he say glaring at us, especially at Tony before going into the inner cabin of the office to meet the principal. But Tony still has that stupid smirk on his face.
We all wait near the doors as the teacher and our principal converse with each other inside the cabin. Finally the principal call us to come in and we all walk inside.
The principal coldly stares at us before starting in an icy cold voice. " All eight of you get one hour detention for a week. Now go to your classes."
That's all. He doesn't say anything else. Grace and me look at each other. Tony and team turns and proceeds to leave.
" But sir...", Grace protests.
" What ? Do you want two week detention?", the principal asks.
" No. But sir, they are the ones who..."
" Go to your class, if you don't want me to increase your detention.", Principal snaps at her. Grace doesn't say anything further.
Tony and team has a victory smirk on their face as we exist the office.
" Bitch..your life is gonna be hell. You'll suffer for this. Catch you later.", Amelia mutters to Grace before they walk away. However she doesn't forget to give a glance in Ethan’s direction.
" Why is this like this ? Why the principal didn't even bother to hear an explanation ? ",Grace asks to herself in exasperation.
" Mr Spencer who talked to the Principal is Tony's uncle. He is the dean of science and the manager of this school. This is what happens every time Tony enters into a fight. And you know, they aren't even going to come for detention and no body will check. What happened now is just for formality. Detention is only meant for us.", Ethan says wiping his face. His lips has been bruised and is slightly bleeding.
" That's not fair ! ", Grace scoffs.
" Yes that's not fair. But that's what happens here.", Gavin says fisting his hands in frustration.
" This isn't happening. I know what to do.", Grace says and fishes out her phone from her jeans pocket.
“ What are you doing here ? Go to your classes.”, Mr Spencer snarls coming out of the office. So Grace places her phone back in her pocket and we all quickly leave the corridor.
Grace is furious as we both head to the English class. We silently occupy two chairs in the back of the class and a lot of people start murmuring about us. Everyone is fascinated by Grace who showed the courage to slap Kevin and talk against the popular gang. The whispers continues until Mrs Kelly steps into the class.
Grace is a lot disturbed during the whole English hour. I notice her arms are fisted tight around her pen the whole time. She doesn’t concentrate in the class instead she looks like she is in some deep thought. I too couldn’t concentrate. I was thinking about the detention. Now I need to spend one more hour in the school every day for a week.
After the hour, I had Chemistry while Grace had History. So we parted ways to our classes. Grace told me she would wait for me at the canteen for lunch. I nodded to her although I was really scared to again face the four of them at the canteen.
Anyway after Chemistry, I hesitantly walk in direction of the canteen. Grace was already sitting at a table along with an other girl when I arrived and they both were talking. Soon Grace see me and wave at me. I walk to them and occupy a chair beside Grace.
“ Nate, meet Laura. She is with me in History.”, Grace introduce the girl to me. “ Laura, this is Nate, my roommate.”, she tells Laura.
“ Hello..”, Laura say with a small smile and I smile back at her muttering a ‘Hi'.
“ Nate, we had been talking about Tony and team. Laura is also being bullied by their gang and her friend Annie has been cyber bullied by Kevin last year. Annie changed schools because of that. So I’m planning to ruin them all with this issue. Will you both stand with me in this matter ?”, Grace asks.
“ Grace, I told you I'm really scared.”, Laura says terrified. “ I'm afraid they'll do something like what they did to Annie.”
“ No, they won’t. Just tell my Dad what they did to Annie. My Dad will see everything else.”, Grace says grabbing Laura's hands. “ Don’t you think they should get punished ? Do you think they deserve to study here unaffected after doing all these things ? They shouldn’t do something like that to one more person. We shouldn’t let them ruin one more person’s life. If you reveal all the truths to my Dad, we can expel them from this school. Don’t you think your friend deserves justice ?”
“ Yes..but will I be safe ?”, Laura asks.
“ Yes..I assure you, nothing will happen to you. And if you do this, you won’t have to do their works anymore. They won’t be able to tell you to do stuff anymore. You can finally have a peaceful school life. And it will be a warning to all other bullies. Let’s do this Laura.”
“ Okay..”, Laura nods unsurely.
“ And Nate, you will reveal all the things they did to you, right ?”, Grace asks me.
“ Uhm..yeah.”, I nod.
“ Okay, I called my Dad. He is on his way to here.”, Grace says.
“ They are coming.”, Laura suddenly says in a low voice whilst lowering her gaze. I see the four of them entering the canteen, pushing open the canteen door haughtily and walking to their usual table whilst shooting glares in our direction.
