Ethan's POV
For the first time in my life, I was insanely jealous.
I couldn't bear to see Michael all touchy with the girl and smiling and blushing to her. He was making me crazy
I couldn't believe I felt like dragging Michael out of the chemistry lab at the instant and kissing him right there, until he ran out of his breath.
But I didn't do that. What I did was, I walked to one of the windows of the physics lab, got a lab manual from one of the girls inside, learned the experiment procedure quickly and went to the doors of the physics lab.
Because Mr Robert had earlier threw me out of the lab for not learning the procedures of the experiment we were about to do today. He asks questions to random students every day and today I was one of those random students. And I was then quite happy to be thrown out.
" Mr Robert, I learned the procedure. May I come in ?", I asked him permission, standing at the door.
" What is the formula to find the resistivity of the material of the wire ?", he asked me.
"Ahmm...πr^2R/l ", I replied. Then he asked me the definition of ohm's law. After I some home stammered out the ohm's law, he let me in.
I joined a girl at a table and started doing the experiment along with her. She tried to talk to me casually while we were doing the procedures but I wasn't in a mood to talk. I was mad. And she stopped talking after sometime as she realized I wasn't listening.
After the two hours lab practical when the bell rang, I still was feeling angry and jealous. I was feeling angry with myself for getting jealous over a boy. I've never in my life felt possessive towards a girl.
As I stepped out of the lab, Michael and the girl who was his lab partner walked out of the chemistry lab talking to each other. Between our chemistry and physics lab practicals are two hours together, once in a week. The girl seemed so happy as she was smiling and giggling at Michael. He too was smiling. Anger boiled inside my veins.
I instantly barged towards them and grabbed Michael's hands. He looked up from our hands with widened eyes. " Michael, let's go. They'll be waiting for us.", I said and dragged him.
"Oh..hey..Ethan..where are you guys going ?", the girl asked me, her smile had suddenly vanished.
" We both are going out with our friends.", I said.
" uhm..Your friends..?? They are dismissed from school, right ? ", She asked. I was already feeling annoyed.
" They are not whom I meant. Other friends. Michael, come.", I said and dragged him.
" W..wait Ethan ! ", he said trying to squirm his hands out of my grip. The girl was frowning at us. " Bye Andrea, s..see you in next chemistry hour.", Michael said smiling to her.
" Yeah..hmm..bye. See you tomorrow I guess.", She said smiling awkwardly, looking at our intertwined fingers. I hadn't left his hands. I was holding more tightly.
I didn't waste a moment and dragged Michael away from them, heading in direction of the parking. Gavin had texted me that he and Grace will be waiting for us at the parking along with his other friend Milan who is a day scholar. Milan will be also going with us to the movies. Actually we are going in his car.
" What's r..wrong with you Ethan ?", Michael sneered at me, trying to free his hands.
" What ?", I scoffed at him.
" Why are you holding my hands ? That too s..so tightly ? You are almost h..hurting me.", he said. I instantly loosened my grip.
" Why are you mad at me ?", he asked. I didn't reply but clicked my tongue on my cheeks.
" I thought y..you are interested in Andrea. S..so that's not the matter ?", he then asked. Oh so he thought like that ?
" I didn't even know her name.", I replied.
" Th..Then...why are you angry at me now ? A..and..why were you standing there and l..looking at me ?", he asked with nervous eyes.
" I wasn't looking at you or anything.", I replied and left his hands free. " Mr Robert threw me out of lab for not studying procedures. So I was just standing there. So I simply thought to watch the experiment you guys were doing, so that it will be useful for me in next chemistry practical."
" Oh..then why couldn't you g..go and watch the physics experiments through the w..window ?", he asked me.
" Ahmm..I like to watch chemistry experiments better.", I replied and increased my pace of walking. I could feel Michael's frown piercing into me from my side.
We didn't talk after that until we reached the parking and met with Gavin, Grace and Milan. The three of them were standing in front a blue Hyundai Magna car which would be obviously Milan's.
" Hey Ethan, Nate Hop in dudes.", Milan says smiling at us and walking around the car to the driver's seat as we reach them. He is smiling broadly at us and talking as if he has known us for years. I actually only barely knows the guy. But he is one of Gavin's close friends.
Michael smiles a bit hesitantly at Milan, probably because he is seeing the guy for the first time. He is surely insecure with people.
We all soon hop into the car. Gavin in the passenger seat and we three in the back. Michael is stuffed between me and Grace.
" So Ethan, what you think about yesterday's incident ?", Milan asked whilst pulling the car out of the lot.
" Everything happened was good I guess.", I replied.
" I wonder why you were clinging to them all this while.", He exclaims.
I couldn't help but leave a sigh. I'm tired replying to this same question from people over and over again. And I actually don't have an answer to reply with. But anyway I reply with something saying I was trapped with them all this while and was too scared to escape.
We all continue to chat until we reach the theatre. Michael only talk a little. He might be insecure with his stutter. And I felt he was looking really nervous too. He was occassionally glancing at me and then quickly turning away his head and biting down on his lips as I look at him. He sure got doubts I'm attracted to him. I too am nervous thinking what he thinks about me.
He surely don't see me like that. I just need to wait to get a rejection. But I'm not even thinking about confessing.
When we reached the theatre, Gavin and I together went and got the tickets for all of us. Michael, Grace and Milan got the snacks.
I went to Michael and reached to grab his hands. But he quickly moved it away and moved away from me. I was clearly upset.
As we walked to our specific theatre room, Michael walked speedily, dragging Grace along with him. I saw Gavin eying Michael's and Grace's intertwined hands with furrowed eyebrows. But anyway, for some reason, Grace and Michael weren't making me jealous.
I tried to reach along with the two, so that I can sit beside Michael. But he wasn't making it practically possible. He walked to the seat on the extreme end and sat down. Grace sat down beside him. Gavin pulled me away and quickly sat down beside Grace. Milan sat next as I stood there, not knowing what to do.
At last I and Michael were on the opposite ends.
I slumped down on the last chair and let out a frustrated sigh. I tilted my head and saw Michael leaning back comfortably on his seat with a relieved face.
" Dude, what's wrong ?", Milan asked me.
" Nothing..", I shook my head. Grace then tilted her head and looked at me. She then scratched on her forehead, looking at Michael. She was probably thinking what to do to make us both sit together. I'm sure she already got the idea that I like Michael. But there was now practically no way we could sit together.
