Alpha Jax and his Beta were on their way to the training ground to check the men that just arrived from a mission. They were not in their best shape according to the report. He wondered what happened to them.
Something more like emotional trauma could best describe their situation coupled with hunger and perhaps lack of rest.
Some troops he sent as spies to the neighboring packs had just returned and they brought important or rather shocking news.
"Do you have any idea why the troops are in panic?", Alpha Jax asked as they drove towards the training ground.
"No slightest idea, my Alpha", Beta Rufus said.
Alpha Jax was already pissed off this morning from being called from his morning squabble with his tigress. He knew he would tame her soon. She seemed a little different this morning compared to last night. Maybe she is getting used to him. A rare smile appeared on his handsome face. He kinda likes her and he also admires her fearlessness. No one had ever spoken to him in the manner she speaks to him.
He might find it offending if others speaks to him in such a way, but with her, he feels like grabbing her and kissing her fiercely. He likes her fierceness and the way she pouts her lips when angry.
She might have done something bad which deserves punishment from him but right now, he wants her by his side always. Not a moment away from his sight.
Alpha Jax was so dazzling in his smiles that Beta Rufus turned his focus to the road. He doesn't wish to be badly injured or even die due to an accident. He still loves his life and family. He hasn't found his mate yet.
He still wishes to love and ofcourse smile the way his friend is doing just now. He knew it was because of his mate, Alpha Jax rarely smiles and even if he does, it wasn't so broad and dazzling.
When they got to the training ground, Alpha Jax saw the troops that came back looking tattered and worn-out.
"What really happened to them" he pondered. He signaled the leader of the troop and his assistant to come over to the office. He prefers they talk in private.
When they all got to the office, he offered them wine to revive their spirit. He also ordered some take out for all of them. He could see they were famished.
"Tell me what happened", Alpha Jax asked gently.
The man he asked was the commander of the troops. His beards had become so bushy that he was hardly recognisable. He looked unkempt and shabby. He looked so dirty and unkempt but even at that you can tell he is a very handsome man. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"We were able to gather much information at Grandeur's Pack but on our way back, we were ambushed by strange wolves. They didn't look like werewolves or rogues. It was strange. We fought them tooth and nail. We were just lucky to barely escape", the commander said with a look of fear and curiosity.
"Those creatures were nothing like rogues yet they can turn into humans. They do look a little like werewolves but what puzzles them was their agility and ability to withstand long torture. They hardly break", he continued.
"Where were you attacked?", Alpha Jax asked.
"It's the forest close to our border. It seems that is their hideout. I fear for our pack", the commander responded.
"It means they are getting closer to our boundary. They want to infiltrate our pack", Alpha Jax said in deep thought.
"What do we do, Alpha?", Beta Rufus asked.
"We lay a trap to see their might. Then we will strike…", Alpha Jax said.
"I think they are hired mercenaries by the Alpha of Grandeur's Pack. He had always wanted a war with our pack", Beta Rufus said.
"Yes, I think so too", the deputy commander agreed.
"Why do you guys think so?", Alpha Jax asked.
"We saw a hidden emblem of the Grandeur's Pack. It was well hidden. It shows they are mercenaries hired by him", the commander said.
The emblem of the Grandeur's Pack was a very unique sign that all packs around always recognize it.
"Why do you think mercenaries would put on an emblem of the person hiring them?", Alpha Jax asked again.
"We really don't know, Alpha. Maybe we are mistaken. Forgive our impudence", the commander bowed.
"Relax guys, you are not totally wrong. There are some truths in what you say", Alpha Jax said with a smirk.
"What do you mean, Alpha?", Beta Rufus asked confused. They all looked at the alpha confused.
"They are mercenaries but they weren't hired by Alpha Derek of the Grandeur's Pack. That's one. Then, another is, Alpha Derek has a very powerful team of scientist just like ours, these are their experimental subjects", Alpha Jax said.
"What??? Experimental subjects? Are they…humans?", They exclaimed in disbelief.
"They were humans. These are powerful humans injected with the blood of werewolves. It's more like when a human and werewolf mates, they give birth to werewolves. But in this case, there is no mating. They are injected. The blood is mixed with a serum that makes them very powerful and stronger than a normal werewolf", Alpha Jax explained.
"Doesn't that put Alpha Derek at risk? What if they turn around and kill him or his people?", Beta Rufus asked.
Alpha Jax chuckled", Who do you think that sly fox is? The people that are more powerful than these creatures are the Alphas. But, that fox did something to protect his pack. He put a chip that controls their thinking. Anyways, let's forget about these boring topics. My team of scientists would handle it".
They couldn't believe scientist could make a replica of werewolves that powerful. What is Alpha Derek's plan?
Alpha Jax chuckled at their bewildered expression. They hadn't heard one tenth of what that Alpha is planning to do. Anyways, it had never been his concern as long as he didn't trespass on his boundaries.
But, it seems Alpha Derek's is having misplaced priority.
"Alvin, you will be led by Gamma Enrique on a surprise attack so we can study them again. Your men will fight those creatures to know their inner and outer strength. You already know their hideout. All you have to do is to lure them out so that the Gamma can estimate their strength and any other vital information. Once Enrique has gotten his record, you will immediately withdraw and come back to camp", Alpha Jax said.
"Yes Alpha", the commander said.
"Not now though. Rest for at least two weeks so they would be relaxed. It will be an unexpected attack", Alpha Jax said smiling.
"Thank you, Alpha", commander Alvin bowed.
"You can leave now and don't forget your takeout. Go straight home and rest", he waved at them.
They bowed gratefully and left to rejoin the rest of the troops outside.

Alpha Jax and Beta Rufus sat down to sort out some documents in the office. There was an overbearing silence. Beta Rufus cracked the silence with a fake cough.
"If you have something to say, say it before you burst your throat", Alpha Jax said without looking up.
"Errr… I mean I was wondering…", Beta Rufus said with a grin.
"No, we didn't do it last night. That girl is a wild cat… a wild but sexy wild cat. I just want to tame her", Alpha Jax said as he roll back his chair.
"I am not too surprised. Her personality is really unique", Beta Rufus said.
"Meaning? Have you been close to her before?", Alpha Jax said with an underlying jealous and threatening tone.
"No…not at all. I'm… I mean I am just saying because of her behavior at the birthday party", Beta Rufus quickly defended himself.
"You…ahh!", Alpha Jax couldn't finish his words before his heart began thumping. It was so painful.
She's in trouble. She's hurt…hurry! Someone has hurt our mate, his wolf said restlessly.
"Alpha, are you okay?", Rufus was scared as he tried to hold him.
"Aurora…she's hurt. Someone has hurt her. How dare they?!"Alpha Jax said as he growled loudly, scaring everyone at the training ground.
They all felt his agony and anger. They knew their Alpha must be really angry.
Before anyone could guess what has happened, they saw the Alpha changing into the woods in his wolf form. He sped past them as his Beta followed closely.
That's it. The Alpha is definitely angry.
Who dare made their alpha angry to the extent of them feeling his rage. The person should get ready to be burnt by alpha Jax's furnace.
Whoever that may be, who got the alpha angry, they pity for him or her as the alpha barely forgives when angry.
