“They’re here,” Kim said as he stared at the approaching boat.
It sailed gracefully towards us. Her name ‘Lovely,’ painted blue on the starboard, glittered against the moonlight. We saw Tim and Maezy right away, sitting and hugging each other by the bow.
I glanced at Kim, and I saw the hurt in his eyes while watching them. Although he turned our lights off, I could still see his full reactions because of the moonlight. I could feel his pain in his silence, but I didn’t dare to say a thing about it.
He followed them with his sharp gaze as they stepped out from the boat and chased each other as they climbed up the islet. Perhaps thinking that this trip was meant for romantic dates, they didn’t seem to care if somebody was looking at them. I was sure they noticed our boat, but because our lights were off, they probably thought that the people inside were also busy with each other. And even if there were boatmen, they may also be thinking that these men were used to the passionate scenes between their clients.
They didn’t waste time. They laid out their mattress on the sand. I thought they would limit themselves from just kissing and cuddling each other as they watched the sparkling blue sea before them. Or, as they gazed at the moonlit sky. However, I got horrified. Their kisses went deeper, and soon, Tim removed Maezy's top. His hands roamed everywhere, but it lingered longer on the soft peaks before him. I stopped breathing because I worried that Kim might suddenly barge towards them and cut their heads off.
To my surprise, he glanced down at me with a faint smile then stared back at them. Tim and Maezy got wilder. In no time, they were already naked—taking turns in grabbing each other with their hands and mouth. My greatest fear then happened, and I thought Kim would finally explode. Tim positioned himself above Maezy and was soon moving his hips in and out of her. I could even hear Maezy’s cries of pleasure.
I suddenly shuddered. I never dreamed of standing as a witness to a crime should Kim finally storm and shoot them in the head. Kim met my eyes as I glanced at him again, but he smiled weakly at me and placed a hand on my shoulder.
He still didn’t say a word, but he stood up and called out to the boatman.
“That’s enough. Let’s go.”
Soon, the engine roared, and we headed back towards the resort. I kept glancing at him, expecting him to cry or throw a rage, but he didn’t. I wondered how he could be so calm in facing his wife’s unfaithfulness.
As we stepped out of the boat, the boatman handed him a camera. He thanked the boatman, pulled out his wallet, then pulled out some bills.
“As we have agreed, keep this between us only.”
“Yes, sir!” exclaimed the boatman with wide eyes as he saw the stack of paper bills in his hand.
We walked silently towards his car. He opened the door for me before he walked back to the driver’s seat. After turning on the engine and the air conditioner, he finally turned to me.
“Are you tired already? You can sleep on the way.”
“How about you, Kim? You must be exhausted already, physically and emotionally.” I gave him a concerned look.
“You need to go home. I don’t think you can have the shuttle tonight. And besides, it’s not safe to travel at night.”
I quickly answered. “Zed said I could book a room and wait for him in the morning.”
“That’s good, but you don't need to bother him. Your husband is busy."
Kim pulled out of the parking lot, and I wondered where we were going. When we reached the highway and headed towards the city, I thought he decided to go home. But suddenly, he entered another resort not far from where we came.
“Let’s stay for the night and rest. We may leave early in the morning before daybreak.”
He domineered this time like a boss. He never asked for my opinion if I liked the place or not; he just decided for himself. If I had to decide, I wouldn’t spend a night in this luxurious resort. He let me wait in the lobby while he booked our rooms. And before I could extract my thoughts away from what I witnessed a while ago, Kim was already at my side.
“Let’s go.”
I nodded and followed him to the elevator. He pressed number 5, so the elevator stopped on the second floor.
“This way,” he said, spreading an arm to point the direction. I couldn’t almost take his silence anymore. I knew that deep inside; he was already feeling like a volcano, threatening to erupt molten lava anytime.
He led me to my room and handed me the keycard. “Thank you, Miss Yen. Without you, I couldn’t promise to stay calm.”
I smiled and stared into his eyes. He was one in a million. How could he be so good in holding his temper?
“I understand if you burst out," I said.
“It’s too shameful to do that in front of a beautiful lady." A smile broke out from his lips.
I also laughed but ignored his comment.
“You may go now and rest. I will wake you up thirty minutes before we leave. Have a good night.”
“Good night, Kim” I realized that I already felt comfortable in addressing him with his first name.
I took a long shower once I was inside. The sea breeze made me feel sticky and salty. Since I did not have extra clothes for this unplanned trip, I use the hotel's robe. I recalled that I always bring extra undies wherever I was, so I didn’t feel too uncomfortable. I could just call for a quick laundry service later on.
I poured myself a coffee after drying my hair with a towel. I felt the need for a stimulant after witnessing Tim and Maezy. This time, I wasn’t hurting for Ara alone, but for Kim, as well.
I sipped my coffee while my thoughts wandered off. I was slumping on a couch with just my undies because I was using my towel to wrap my hair.
“Sorry,” Kim’s voice from the door frame had me bolted out of my seat. “The door is slightly-opened, so I peep in.”
I hurriedly pulled my towel from my hair and wrapped it around my body. But I was too late already. He had already seen my perky breasts. My face immediately flushed, but I remembered that he had seen my nakedness already. Even then, I felt uncomfortable.
“What is it, Kim?” I asked without glancing at him.
“I bring you a set of scrub suits. I know you’re not bringing an extra set.”
I furrowed my brows and forgot that I was only on a towel. “Where do you get that?”
“You can order it at the front desk. Clean and iron-pressed.”
“Wow!” I exclaimed. I was sure we were not alone in traveling without an extra change of clothes.
I couldn’t dare to stand up with just a skimpy towel around me. However, Kim understood it. He walked towards me, handing me the towel.
