I couldn't wait to go home and tell Zed about the news. I was sure he would be as ecstatic as I was in learning that we were already pregnant. Seeing his car in the garage, I rushed inside, and as soon as I saw him on the couch, I squealed.
"Zed!"
He turned to look at me and stood up immediately, meeting me halfway. I threw my head around his neck, and he tilted my chin for a quick kiss on the lips.
"You look so happy. What is it?"
I broke away from his embrace and held his hand, pulling him towards the couch.
"Guess what?"
"If I can guess, what will be the prize?"
"Ask, and it shall be given," I laughed as I imitated a common spiritual line.
He lifted the hem of my dress, and it opened easily since I was wearing an A-Line cut. His hand then slipped under the garter of my black lace undies, tracing the line beneath my mons. I gasped as it sent impulses into my skin, triggering a wave of pleasure from within.

"Love, it doesn't mean I don't want the baby, but I would have wanted it to be later."

"I'm not ready to share your attention with our child yet. I would have wanted a long time for us to spend with each other as husband and wife."
This was where I failed. Zed is a meticulous person whose life flows according to the kind of order he has set ahead for himself. His steps every day always fall according to how he planned it. And any disruption to his careful planning would make him feel unhappy and disorganized.
"I'm already 30 years old, Zed, and I don't want my kids to call me grandma!"
He laughed and hugged me tightly. "I don't want them to call me grandpa, either."

"Congratulations!" Ara's ecstatic voice rang across the walls of the restaurant. She approached and hugged me, shaking me vigorously in her embrace.

My gaze fell unconsciously behind her, and I saw Tim standing silently. "Tim, glad you're here."
Tim chuckled softly--his behaved character was the extreme opposite of Ara's loud and expressive attitude.

To make up for me, Zed invited Ara and Tim for a celebration dinner buffet in one of our city's prestigious hotels--the Radiant Blue Hotel. I happened to notice a change in Tim's outfit. He was then wearing a branded polo shirt paired with non-denim trousers. Perhaps because I got used to his usual jeans- and- shirt type,
The gold pendant that rested on his chest glittered against the bright lights above our heads.
Ara must have noticed my wandering eyes; she bent down again and whispered something in my ear. "He starts working with Maezy."
I then recalled that Ara told me about Mazy's offer to hire him as a personal driver. But why the complete change?
I also noticed that he was even wearing a Rolex watch and a pair of casual leather shoes--not his usual rubber shoes. In fairness, he looked more handsome and elegant; his fair skin complemented the expensive stuff on his body.
Forgive me if I was wrong; I felt bad about it. Does being a driver requires him to wear expensive clothes and jewelry?
I wouldn't wonder if Ara wore expensive kinds of stuff. It's because her sisters, who were both accomplished in their fields, provided her those things.
Later, when Ara accompanied me to the ladies' room, she blurted happily.
"Yen, I couldn't be more thankful. Maezy is so generous. He invited Tim to go shopping with her and even changed his whole wardrobe!"
I also grinned widely, not wanting to dampen her soaring spirit. When she's done with her babbling, I indirectly voiced my doubts, hoping to open her mind.
"Is Maezy's husband not a jealous type?"
"That old man won't surely mind. It's his suggestion to let Maezy hire a driver."
I didn't know why the word "old" stung my heart. His portrait in their room then sailed in my thoughts. No matter how many times I thought about it, he never looked old. He was still at the prime of his life, oozing with sexiness in his mid-thirties. Not only that, he even possessed the qualities of my dream man!
