CHAPTER TWENTY
No one talked about what happened the past few months under Kim Namjoon's ruling—no. It's more like no one talked about Namjoon's existence ever since. Not even the guards, maids, butlers, Namjoon's past concubines nor the people near the palace. They were warned or either killed, especially Namjoon's concubines.
The witch has been keeping all of them in track, especially Seokjin and Hoseok that could possibly tell Taehyung about what happened anytime. They have been watching Taehyung wherever he goes as to avoid any conversation about everything.
It has been a day since Taehyung completely woke up, and a celebration will be held just among the Dukes and King as per request from the witch. Taehyung immediately agreed to the celebration despite not knowing about the real reason why would his soulmate request such event.
Of course, the event was ordered from the witch and Seokjin was the one who delivered the message to Taehyung who was oblivious about everything. The eldest Duke was completely controlled by the witch, and Taehyung as well.
In Taehyung's case, he missed Ha Na so much. He wanted to touch her, kiss her and cuddle with her all day long after what it felt like not having her in his arms for years. He haven't seen Ha Na ever since he woke up. Though he thinks that he haven't seen Ha Na for days, in reality, it has been months already. He was also giddy about the celebration that will happen tonight as his soulmate said that there will be a surprise for him.
"Are you okay, Tae?" Seokjin snapped out of his thoughts.
Taehyung's eyebrows furrowed, confused as to why the eldest Duke has been around him lately, and cling to him all day and night when before, all of them would have a their own paths.
"Didn't I give you a task, Hyung?" He teased, wiggling his eyebrows, and Seokjin looked at him in confusion.
"You're a Commissioner, hyung. You're supposed to be travelling around the world for news and such instead of guarding me every single second." Taehyung whined.
"I'm a Commissioner, but I am also a Duke," Seokjin snarled, jokingly. "And my real job is to protect you."
Taehyung just snorted, laughing. He leaned back on his seat as Seokjin took a sit on the bed across him. "Hyung?"
The elder hummed in response. "Why does Hoseok hyung kept on asking me if I'm alright?"
He froze.
Of course, Hoseok knew about Taehyung waking up and the latter immediately cried, hugging Taehyung to his heart contents as soon as they saw each other—although it left the king confused because Hoseok asked random questions that Taehyung didn't get why while Seokjin was there to interrupt whenever they try to have an appropriate conversation that would upset Hoseok.
"Hoseok was just worried about your health—uh, I told him about you having sores, and all." Seokjin lied, clearing his throat, and Taehyung just nodded, not minding about Hoseok who cried when they saw each other a while ago.
I wonder how Jimin is doing right now. Did he find Jin hyung's child? Taehyung wondered but the elder didn't hear him as the younger blocked his ability.
"What's wrong, Tae?"
"It's just I remembered something," Taehyung bit his lips, as an image flash in his mind. He pouted, bottom lips stick out.
"What is it that bothers you so much?"
"I suddenly remember what happened a thousand years ago." The king frowned, crossing his arms over his chest as he sighed.
"The day when I stabbed Jimin."
Seokjin's eyebrows furrowed, puzzled. He remembered that Taehyung must've talked been about when Jimin was turned into a vampire.
Wait, he stabbed Jimin? It was Namjoon who did —His eyes widened, lips parted and jaw dropped.
Taehyung shook his head. "It's still vivid and clear in my mind. The way I turned Jimin like us because of my selfishness—no. I turned everyone of you."
"What are y-you talking about?" The elder Duke stuttered, shivers shoot up to his spine and could feel cold chills.
Taehyung chuckled bitterly, shrugging his shoulders. "Let's not talk about that. It's the past now."
The elder licked his lips and chuckled nervously avoiding his gaze.
"Ha Na said something about a surprise, and wanting a celebration for later, right?" The king changed the topic, not noticing the odd behavior his hyung was doing.
"Yes. She has a surprise for—"
"Hyung, what is he talking about?" Hoseok came out of nowhere making Seokjin startled. The younger duke has a puzzled look on his face as he heard the two's conversation.
"Can I talk to you?" The elder abruptly stood up, talking rather fast. Hoseok nodded in confusion, and both of them eventually got out of the room—leading to Hoseok's bedroom.
"I'm sorry." Seokjin mumbled before hitting the pressure point at the back his neck with the side of his hands making Hoseok falls unconscious and landed on his bed.
"I had to do this, to protect you." The elder pressed his lips into thin line, before flipping Hoseok on his back.
Seokjin asked the young duke yesterday to keep his mouth shut, and he will explain later on. Though Hoseok did obey, yet he heard the two talking making him surprised and demented. He tapped Hoseok's forehead, quickly replaying the memories from where the younger visioned Namjoon betraying Taehyung. He tugged Hoseok's memories backward, slowly erasing them until his memories of the present day. The bubble was finally created with Hoseok's memory trapped inside. Seokjin immediately—
"What are you doing here?" His heart leap out of his chest, abruptly turning around to see the witch.
"What are you doing here?!" Seokjin hissed, glaring at her, gripping the bubble behind his back. "I thought you wouldn't come until later?!"
"Don't think that I'm not monitoring your every move." The witch snorted, rolling her eyes.
"Remember what I told you," The witch smirked, walking towards Seokjin who was even more nervous about her going near.
"Everything will go as planned. If something will go wrong, I will blame you." She scoffed, pointing out. She took a step forward. "Remember, your friend's life are in the palm of your hands."
Seokjin cleared his throat, nodding before watching as she slowly vanish into ashes making him heavily sigh in relief. He glanced at Hoseok again before he speeds his way back to Taehyung's bedroom. He opened the door, disturbed by the calm environment inside.
As soon as he entered, he looked at the side only to see Taehyung's eyes close—healing himself on the bed. And to think it would be the perfect time for Seokjin to sneak in since Taehyung wouldn't come out of his consciousness until an hour or two.
The elder took a deep breath, approaching Taehyung's figure and sat beside him. He lifted his fingers, tapping his forehead before bringing his memories out, and it all replayed from the very start.
Slowly by slowly, Seokjin explored Taehyung's memories.
