CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
Ha Na bent down as she ruffled Jungkook's fur with her palms causing the wolf to purr. She giggled at the cute and adorable wolf before standing up to give his way for Jungkook to change behind the tree with his clothes between his canines. She straightened his posture, glancing at the tree again.
Somehow, the tree gave her shivers down to her spine whenever she looked at it. Even awhile ago, she found herself drawn towards the garden, especially the tree when she lost Yoongi on the way out of the Palace to go back to the territory.
She felt overwhelmed and tears sting her eyes when she saw the big tree that was displayed in the middle of the garden but hold it back as they were in the event, and didn't want to embarrass herself for crying over some tree.
"Noona, what are you doing here?" Jungkook asked as he got out from behind the tree who was done changing. "Shouldn't you be with Yoongi hyung?"
The Alpha asked, agitated for a bit at the thought of Taehyung seeing Ha Na inside to palace or even smelling her scent. But gladly, Jungkook's scent was able to cover it up for a bit.
Though he just wanted Ha Na to get out of the palace as soon as she can, but he wondered where did Yoongi even go? The two were supposed to take a glimpse of the palace only, and go afterwards.
"I kinda lost Yoongi, and just came here looking at this tree." She responded with a smile and adoration of look towards the tree.
"The tree?" Jungkook glanced at the big tree, raising his eyebrows, and thought. This must be what they are talking about.
He remembered some few stories about the Legendary Tree in the middle of the Garden in the Palace. Ever since Taehyung was overthrown, his pack has been talking about the palace here and there. With him growing up over a span of four months, he was able to understand what they were saying.
"I heard about some legends here." Jungkook chuckled, and Ha Na looked at him.
"Legends?"
Jungkook nodded with a smile. "It was said that this is where the first Queen died. This is also where the former King's Queen died."
"First Queen? Former King's Queen?"
"The first Queen." Jungkook paused, trying to recall what he heard. "It was said that she was beautiful but no one really knows about her. She was Kim Taehyung's first Queen."
Jungkook accidentally blurted out and froze, realising what he said. "I don't know. Only a few people knows about it so I'm not sure if it's true. It's just a story."
Ha Na nodded, frowning. A Queen that was hidden?
"And about the former King Namjoon's Queen, she died here as well. No one really knows what happened. But from what I heard with the news roaming around the royal guards, a werewolf was there before Queen Elisse died. Though they weren't sure if the wolf was the one who killed her."
"Queen Elisse?" Her voice suddenly cracked. "She must be beautiful for the King to be picked."
Jungkook chuckled, amused at his mate. "Noona, vampire soulmates don't work that way. Just like us werewolves, vampires are bounded by this mate bond as well."
"I know." She giggled. "Just because I lost my memories doesn't mean I entirely forgot all of it. I know some vampire facts."
Her expression fell, and body froze when a sudden voice and image flashed. It was two girls talking to each other but there faces cannot be seen. It was unclear.
"You know about vampires, right?"
"Oh... I know some vampire facts. Why?"
"Can you state one fact?"
"Well, they die from sharp objects with silver contents."
"Can you name the Dukes?"
"I can, but why do you need their names?"
"Just...because I'm interested."
"You're not going to marry vampires and have half-vampire babies, right?"
The two girls faces remained blurred and they were giggling. Ha Na was puzzled as why she suddenly have those images.
"Elisse?" She inhaled sharply as she remembered the familiar name paraded in his mind. Why does that name sounds familiar?
"We should go home." A person entered, interrupting the two who was having a peaceful conversation.
"Mom?" Jungkook and Ha Na turned around to see Caroline. "Go home? Why?"
"The event is cancelled." Caroline informed.
"The event is cancelled?" Jungkook repeated, and his mother nodded.
"Yes, but regardless the party, the bond is still valid. We don't need this party to prove the two races' relationship anyways." Caroline said reassuringly before looking at Ha Na who suddenly looked pale, and had this unreadable expression plastered on her face.
"Are you okay, darling?" Caroline asked, walking towards her and grabbed her wrist for support while Jungkook gripped her waist.
Ha Na tugged her bottom lip with her teeth, and took a deep breath. "I'm fine. Just feeling nauseous."
Caroline's eyes widened when she realised what the human was talking about—the child is still inside her womb. Taehyung's child. Everything that happened made the Tía completely forgotten that Kim Taehyung's child is still inside her.
Jungkook looked at her mother who was flustered, and eventually nodded for them to go. Caroline inhaled sharply, following behind Jungkook who was supporting Ha Na. But before they could get out of the event, she suddenly heard a faint yell making her head snapped to look over the garden.
"—hyung!"
But she couldn't see anyone.
KIM SEOKJIN’S POINT OF VIEW
That smell. Why does that scent smell so familiar? As if I've encountered it before? And why is my heart racing and hurting so much as soon as my eyes landed at the lady who was facing her back and was wearing a black gown.
She was talking to Jungkook, whom I've met a few days ago, and a lady that must be Jungkook's mate.
I took a step forward, in attempt to get near them and get a hold of the scent that entered my nose until a voice came causing me to halt.
"Seokjin hyung!" I turned around, baffled when Jun was running and stumbling towards me.
"Jun?" A gasped escaped my lips when he dropped on his knees with blood spurting out of his mouth.
"Jun!" I yelped, running towards him and grabbing him by his arms. "What's wrong? What happened to you?"
Jun squeaked, hands was shaking as he lifted up something that is quiet familiar to me. Ha Na's ring? His other trembling hand gripped my right hand, slowly placing the ring on my palms as I watched his bloody lips quiver.
"K-Keep it safe." He stammered, fumbling out the words. "She is after it."
And Jun took his last breath in Seokjin's arms.
