’’He is my fiance, Ricky. Forget the Mo family for a moment, Mo Jun alone is someone we both can’t afford to mess with right now," Esther leaned into the man’s arms till her breasts collided with his chest. As his chest heaved, her body pressed closer.
’’After he saw us together that day, he was suspicious as to what I was doing with his subordinate. Although I managed the situation then, I still went with him on a date just so he wouldn’t overthink anything..." Esther spoke in a soft and sultry voice.
"Is... Is that true?"
"Why do you think Mo Jun never questioned you? It’s because I protected you in my own way. With everything going according to plan, Ella won’t be a problem for much longer. By then, we can celebrate everything together..."
Esther immediately pulled back from the guy, alerted by subtle noise in the silence of the night, "Who is there?"
When she looked around, the place was completely empty, "You leave quickly for now!"
Ella was speechless even to the point she reached her dorm room.
She glanced at her stomach blankly, unable to reconcile with the fact that it alerted those adulterers by growling out of hunger so suddenly.
The things she witnessed outside were not outside her expectations but they still surprised her.
And various thoughts swirled in her mind. Yet, in sheer hunger, she could no longer analyze anything. Throughout the day, she hadn’t had a proper meal.
Sighing and dragging herself, Ella entered her room.
The voice froze in her tracks, her heart thundered in her ears suddenly.
And for a moment, her thoughts stilled.
The door was not locked from outside when she entered.
Just as the realization hit her, she spotted him, emerging from the darkness, striding towards her.
As the man stepped towards her, Ella instinctively took a few steps back until she felt the hard surface behind her.
Her back collided against the door.
Ella stepped to the side but a hand pressed on the door, right next to her body.
Ella moved to the right, and another palm slammed against the door.
In a few seconds, she was caged between two strong arms.
The man’s whisper by her ear brought a chill of the night, making her shiver slightly. Yet at the same time, a peculiar warmth crept in her body.
He was interrogating her. But, it... sounded slightly teasing? Slightly testing?
Ella almost slapped herself mentally for thinking in that direction regarding Adrian. How could he be doing anything other than interrogation right now?
When she did not respond, two long fingers hooked under her chin and lifted her face.
A cool forehead touched her own as the man lowered his body to her level.
Up so close, she could barely see the shadow of his long eyelashes curling over his cheeks, "Answer,’’ he uttered one word in his smooth and deep voice.
In the next moment, Adrian stiffened. Two soft arms wrapped around his neck.
His eyes fluttered open and his eyes met a pair of dark eyes that shimmered with so much life that it made his heart race.
"I thought you were putting your trust in me?" Ella leaned closer.
"Can I..." Adrian’s eyes darkened, his head lowered, ’’trust you?"
To never leave my side?
Can I trust you to never forget me?
All the breath was knocked out of her chest. At that moment, Adrian seemed the most vulnerable she had ever seen him.
Ella’s heart thudded in her chest and an irresistible urge overcame her.
Before she realized it, her hand shifted from Adrian’s neck to his head and she stroked his hair gently, "I won’t hurt you."
In the next second, both Adrian and Ella froze, their gazes still locked onto each other.
The air stilled, a hint of awkwardness curled between them.
’Ruffle ruffle’ ’Ruffle ruffle’
Ella wanted to drag her traitorous hand back yet like an addict, she couldn’t resist the temptation of one more whiff. One more stroke.
Adrian’s hair was so soft. So fluffy.
Almost as soft as Riri’s fur.
A little to the side.
"Is it... that good?"
Ella coughed as she slowly retracted her hand.
She had just taken a step to the side when the man caged her in his arms again, "Where are you going?"
"Baby, I need to turn on the lights to admire your beauty properly."
He released her instantly.
Slightly speechless by his agreeable behaviour, Ella immediately turned on the lights in the room.
As the place lit up, she squinted. When her eyes adjusted to the brightness, she finally got a proper glance at Adrian and her brows tugged together "Have you not been sleeping properly?"
There were dark green lines under his eyes. His face was so pale that she could spot a few veins.
Ella immediately grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her bed, "Or are you sick?"
Adrian looked at her silently.
"Neither of the reasons? Then—"
Ella was silent for a moment. He... was flirting with her?
"Wait... That’s not a valid reason, baby. You don’t look well..." Ella looked at him thoughtfully, "How about this? Let me order something for you. You will feel better after a proper meal..."
Both the people in the room looked at each other in silence.
In half an hour, Ji Yan entered the girls dormitory with huge bags in his hand.
He knocked on Ella’s door. The door opened and Ella smiled at the man, "Have you eaten...?"
Ji Yan was about to respond but what he saw through the gap of the door dislocated his entire vocabulary.
Seated on the queen-sized bed, his second master was donned in duck-printed pajamas. As he looked on, he spotted a duck printed headband on Adrian’s head as his face glowed like it was dipped in oil.
"Miss Yu, I am already full...’’
