Delilah's POV

“If you are thinking that I would have asked to her spike your drink, then be assured. I haven’t asked anything like that.”, he said.
“Can you read my mind, or do I say that loud?” I asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
He chuckled before speaking, “Neither can I read your mind nor did you say that loud. It’s just you were suspiciously looking at the mojito, that’s why I said so.”, he said and picked my mojito and drank half of it. “See, nothing is mixed in it.”
“Anyway, thank you for the dance, Miss ____”
“Delilah. I’m Delilah.”
“Beautiful name. I’m Cassius.”
“Cassius. Hmm. Meaningful name.”, I said in the way, just like he did.
“This is your first time here in the pub, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. Liam, my friend dragged me here because it’s his birthday today.”
“Then I must thank him for bringing you here.”
“You’re from here?” I asked, on which he shook his head.
“Luxembourg.”, he replied. “I came here in search of something very precious.”
Was he indicating to me? His mate?
Shit… I would have to break his heart that I couldn’t be his mate. Hell, even he wouldn’t accept me as his mate, knowing about me. I bit my lip at that thought, and immediately the thought of rejecting him broke my heart. But hanging with a person who was not human was no less than calling for trouble.
“By the way, you’re from here?” he asked to which I nodded. I didn’t lie to him because he wouldn’t definitely smell it if he was a werewolf.
I glanced at him, thinking of leaving. What the hell did I think when I agreed to come with him to the VIP suite? It was a completely wrong decision.
‘Don’t be stupid, Delilah.’
“Delilah.”
Wow. I felt great and excited to hear my name from his mouth.
“Yes”
“Are you single?”
“I’m, but I’m not ready to mingle.”, I replied back before he could have any second thought. Hurt flashed in his eyes, but well, I couldn’t give any false hope to me.
“Why?”
“Because my career is my priority. You see, I’m just sixteen, and … and thought of a relationship scares me because of my personal reasons.” I paused before adding, “I’m sorry, but I can’t be in a relationship with anyone ever.”
I didn’t give a difference of age or something because, after a couple of years, I would grow old while he would still be the same.
Also, I was aware of that cheesy line that all weight, age, and height are just numbers.
“Won’t you give me a chance? I can’t change the thing that happened in your past, but if you will give me a chance, then I might be able to show you that relationships are not that bad. And about your career, I won’t mind waiting for you to be successful. See, just like birds, everyone should be allowed to fly in the sky, but at night even they have to return back at home. Maybe you don’t need a relationship at sixteen, but what about the relationship at twenty-six?”
I opened my mouth to say ‘NO,’ but he beat me.
“I know you don’t look like a person who believes in love at first sight, but I do, and you might get a little amount of shock after knowing that I’m already in love with you.”, He blunt confession his disarming.
‘Don’t get into this mess, Delilah, just don’t, don’t, don’t….’, My mind kept warning me.
I kept staring at his very serious expression for god knows how long until he brought me back to reality, “Say something.”
Well, what should I say? When I had no idea what to say, how to react, and the moment I opened my mouth to speak. I literally wanted to slap myself.
“You’re joking, right?”
“No. I meant each and every word of mine. I don’t make jokes about feelings, especially when I’m clear about things. And I love you, Delilah.”
His confession again agitated me. How could he be so blunt? I get it that it was because of the mate bond, but still, a lot of people hide their true feeling until they are sure about the other partners so that they wouldn’t be hurt later, but he opened his heart in front of a stranger, who was also his enemy.
I had no idea what he was?
A werewolf or vampire!
And how strong he was! But all I could see was that he was extremely vulnerable in front of me. Once again, I didn’t know what to say. He smiled and suddenly moved to the couch where I was sitting, coming closer to me.
“Can I kiss you?”, He asked, on which my eyes widened. He came a little closer to me; now, our body was touching one another. I gulped my saliva. He reached near my hand and took my heels from my hand, which I didn’t remember that I was still holding. “You know, for safety purposes.”, he muttered.
Was he scared that I would hit him too?
Well, I didn’t know, but I found his fear sweet.
“May I?” he asked softly again, touching my face with fingers and pushing the strand of hairs behind my ear again. “If you don’t want to speak, then just nod or something. It’s just that I don’t want to steal your first kiss.”
“How? How do you know that this will be my first kiss?”
