"we are really sorry for keeping you waiting." Carlton apologized to them.
"no actually we also just gotten here a few minutes back." one of the men replied.
Me and Carlton sat down and we started the meeting.
"uhm miss Ciara congratulations on your wedding and am sorry i didn't make it there due to my schedule." one of the men said and i recognize his face as one of my dad's loyal and long time business friend.
"it's okay sir i understand and thank you for congratulating me." i replied.
"okay so miss Ciara the main reason for this meeting is to know if you can run this company well cause we don't want to lose our money which we all already invested in." one of the gentlemen said.
"we were going to withdraw our shares immediately when your dad died and we look for another legit company but your husband here convinced us that the company is going to be running like before,so we agreed and trusted him with that but the main question is,how are you going to manage it cause you know nothing about the business??" another gentleman asked me.
"uhm about that,am going to assist her in everything from now on till she is able to run it by herself in the future." Carlton said while looking at me and i gave him a warm smile.
"okay that's so thoughtful of you but remember there's too much work on her desk since she is now the top boss of this company and you also work from a different company...so how are you going to manage that??" the gentleman asked.
"am more than willing to invest my time in Ciara so that she keeps her dad's legacy even if it means resigning from my company." Carlton replied.
"no you don't have to resign...you need that job." i held his hand and whispered.
"sweetie that's the only way we can fight for this company unless you want it to be no more...cause the truth is,you really need me here and i can't abandone you when you need me the most." Carlton said and my eyes got watery.
"okay guys that decision of resigning from your company to come and settle here is in your hands and we have no say about it but what we want is constant good results from this company just like before." one gentleman said.
"we promise you that we won't let you down." i told them.
"okay then...i think that's it for today...everything you need to know about our shares in the company is written in those files over there...you can carefully read through them in your free time and we shall be in touch more often from now on." one gentleman said.
"okay then i will look into them carefully." I told them.
They stood up and left the board room.
"Carlton you can't resign from your company noo." I told him.
"sweetie your dad meant a lot to me and this is the least i can do in his absence to fight for his legacy...please allow me to do it." he said.
Tears dropped from my eyes and i hugged him so tight and he also hugged me back.
"you don't have to cry baby...just take it like i have just shifted from my company to here cause am going to be doing the same stuff i was doing there just that the only difference is that am going to be doing it next to the love of my life." he said while cupping my face and tears dropped more.
He cleaned them off my face and he kissed me on my lips and this kiss spoke volumes cause it seriously calmed me down.
"now am going to step out for a while and talk to my boss that starting from next month i won't be working for him anymore...meanwhile you can be passing through those files as i come back." he said.
"okay then...i will be waiting for you here." i replied.
He kissed me one more time before he left.
I started reading through the files but they were many and i found myself getting bored cause am not used to all this so i carried them and went back to my dad's office then placed them on the desk.
I stepped out of the office and went to look for something to eat cause i was starving and it's now i remember that i didn't eat breakfast.
I bought some fries,beef and smoothie then i went back to my office to eat as am waiting for Carlton.
I got done with food and i checked my phone to see the time,it was approaching 4pm...i even had an unread message and it was from Carlton.
"hey babe i have some pending work here at the office so i might come back there at around 5pm...please forgive me but i will be back once i get done."
I felt bad and i started missing him immediately after reading the message.
"its okay babe,am going to wait for you just take your time." I replied him.
I wondered what i was going to do inorder to pass time cause i was so bored right now and i just wanted Carlton to be right here with me but too bad he is far now.
I was wondering what to do next when i heard a knock on the door and i told whoever was knocking to come in.
The door swung open and a beautiful lady walked in looking all stunning.
"yes how may i help you??" I asked her.
"uhm good afternoon ma'am,is this the office of mrs.Peters?" she asked.
After hearing that name i was so surprised cause Peters is Carlton's second name so which means she was referring to me.
"yes that's me...why??" i asked her.
She just smiled and took a seat while looking at me but i didn't like her smile at all.
