3 weeks later
“Kezya Black. We all know how perfect she was, she came here for a new start and most us didn’t know that but she did” I say and Kendal gives me an approving smile, she’s sitting in the front row. I never wanted to give Kezya an eulogy but Kendal insisted and here I am.
“Four years ago, she came into our lives and she changed my life. She made me a better person. I don’t know what kind of mess I’d be if it wasn’t for her”
“We all could have been there for her like she was, but we failed to see the real Kezya. She was that good at hiding her feeling, we all thought she was a bundle of joy but in reality she was hurting. She always wanted to be happy. For us”
I glance at her mom and she’s crying. I gulp.
“The first time I saw her, I knew she was different. She is different. This one time we both went to grab ice-creams and there were a bunch of kids probably twenty and she bought them all ice-creams, and came home empty handed. She was that kind of person who gives people her everything and expects nothing in return”
“I loved her, I will always love her, and she is not a soul that could be forgotten easily. If she didn’t take the decision she took, she could have made more people happy but she didn’t realize it, and all she wanted was to be free. I just hope she was here today with us and make brand new memories everyday”
“I will always remember her and be the person she wants me to be and I hope she’s happy with who I am turning to be”
I finish my eulogy and sit next to Kendal, she leans in and whispers, “Thank you”
I smile.
That morning in the den changed something in me, I know I love her but I could never love her the way I did Kezya but I can always try.
