Wyatt had been shooting me looks throughout the day and I couldn't wait to get out of there.
"Why do you keep looking at me?" I asked suddenly.
He got to his feet and walked over to me, there was something in the way that he looked at me that made me nervous.
"How do you know so much about the homeless shelters?"
I blinked, that wasn't the question I had been expecting, "Um, because I've lived in them." I said it as if it should have been obvious.
"You've been homeless?"
"Yes. Mr Grimes, you know my past, it's no surprise that I've been in shelters after leaving Caleb."
A mix of emotions crossed his face at my confession, "You've been homeless. Why didn't you come to me for help?"
I couldn't believe what he was asking me, "If I'm done with the work for the day, I'll be leaving." I got to my feet, it was getting late and I had moved all of his appointments just as he had asked me to.
"Kenzie, I asked you a question."
"Right. I should have come to my cheating ex boyfriends family for help. Why? Because you're rich? No. You know how I feel about hand-outs."
"Kenzie, it wouldn't have been a hand out!" He raised his voice.
"Yes it would have. Or, would it have been an agreement? A favor for something in return?" The moment the words left my mouth I knew it had been a mistake.
A mix of anger, confusion and hurt crossed his eyes before he took me by the wrist, pulling me dangerously close.
"What the fuck did you just say to me? Kenzie, I helped you pay off that debt you owed as a favor, not for any other reason."
I pulled my wrist free and stepped away from him, "Can I go home now?"
"No. I have files that need to sorted in alphabetical order." His tone was suddenly cold and clipped and I knew I had pissed him off.
"I'll get right to it." I gave him a weekly sweet smile before going over to the filing cabinet in his office.

I could have let her go home, the files weren't that important to me.
But she had angered me with her implied comment, and I couldn't help myself.
I turned to watch her as she worked at the files, my eyes dropping to her ass that looked so snug in those pants.
Thankfully, my phone rang, not allowing me to have any further improper thoughts about my son's ex-girlfriend.
"Father." I answered the call.
"Did you hire Kenzie? Your son's ex? Who is young enough to be your daughter?!"
"Yes I did."
"Did we not discuss this? I do not-"
"Father, it isn't like that. Can we discuss this at a later time?"
"I better not hear of you trying to get her into your bed!"
I cut the call. The last thing I needed was to think of the two of us in bed. Of course, the mention of it alone sent me thinking of a memory.
{PAST}
I was reclining on one of the pool loungers besides the large pool. Caleb was in the pool, showing off with his signature Grimes smile.
Kenzie sat on the side of the pool with her legs hanging into the water, I could see she was feeling left out.
Not that I could blame her, Caleb was paying close attention to a friend of Kenzie's, a petite red head who's breasts threatened to pop out of her tiny bikini top.
She was giggling excessively at Caleb who was being overly friendly, boarding on the line of flirtatious with her.
I couldn't help but wonder why Kenzie had made friends with her in the first place, they were so different.
My attention moved over to Kenzie, she was in a simple black bikini, the first one I had ever seen her in. I had overheard Caleb talking her into wearing it after she had told him she didn't think she could 'pull it off'.
I couldn't imagine why she was so insecure, she was a natural born beauty.
Caleb swam over to the red head and playfully splashed at her.
Ah, that's why Kenzie was insecure.
My knuckle head son.
He turned to me with a questioning stare, probably due to the sour expression on mine, and I tilted my head in Kenzie's direction.
He looked over at her, "Kenz, come join us."
"Maybe just now."
I rolled my eyes when Caleb turned back to talk to the red head, I tried to remember her name but I really couldn't.
I tried to tell myself not to get involved, but as usual, I listened to no one, not even myself.
I got to my feet and walked over to Kenzie, "What's wrong, Bubbles?"
She looked up with a sweet smile, "Nothing, Mr Grimes."
I sat down beside her, "He's gotten his nature from his father. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about." I attempted to comfort her with a lie. I didn't trust my own son, not that I had any proof to back it up.
"I know." She looked down at the pool.
I glanced over at my son, "Who is she again?"
Kenzie laughed, "Aida. She's a model, remember?"
I shook my head, "No. I must be getting old."
We both turned when Aida climbed from the pool, "Kenz, babe, do you want anything to drink? We're running in to refill."
She shook her head and smiled as the two of them walked into my house.
Without thinking I got into the pool and moved in front of her, "The water feels amazing. Get in."
"I was thinking of calling it a day and- Oh!" she gasped as I pulled her into the cool water.
"Mr Grimes!" She yelled, but she was laughing as she looked up at me and I realised we were too close.
But my God, I didn't want to move. Looking down into her beautiful blue eyes. She was only a few inches from me.
The laughing coming from the house pulled me out if my thoughts and I swam away from her as Aida and Caleb returned.
What the hell was wrong with me? I shook my head, I couldn't believe I was actually thinking about kissing my son's girlfriend.
{PRESENT}
"Go home, Kenzie."
She looked over at me, "Sorry?"
"Go home. You can finish the rest tomorrow."
"Are you sure, Mr Grimes?"
I nodded at her and she grabbed her purse before heading out.
I leaned against my desk a breif moment, wondering why the hell Is had gotten myself into this a second time around.
Was I a sucker for punishment? Or was I just a sucker for her punishment?
