KENZIE
I had been seeing a lot of Axel recently and he was taking me out again tonight.
We had agreed on going to a local club. He said he missed music and was tired of the businessman lifestyle.
I purchased a new dress for the occasion, something completely opposite from what I would usually wear.
I wore a very short black dress teamed with high heels.
When I met him at the entrance I was surprised when he pulled me against him, his lips meeting mine as we kissed.
It was the first time he had kissed me, and he tasted like alcohol.
"Sorry. You look amazing."
We made our way into the club with its loud music and many gyrating bodies.
We got some drinks to start off the night, and my heart nearly stopped when I looked across the bar and found a familiar pair of blue eyes staring at me.
It was Wyatt. He had a redhead on his arm who couldn't have been older than twenty-one, maybe twenty-two.
He held my gaze before I turned away wondering what the hell he was doing here.
This didn't look like his scene at all.
I looked everywhere but in his direction, my mind racing at the thought of him being here too.
What the hell was he doing in a place like this? And why did it have to be on the same night that I went out with Axel?
I could feel in my gut that this was going to turn out badly
WYATT
Layla was rambling on as I drank, her hands on my chest.
I wasn't paying her much attention.
My eyes were on Kenzie. Her legs looked a lot longer in the short dress she wore, and I found myself getting annoyed at the thought of the drunk men ogling her.
Not that I was very sober myself.
I kept my eyes on her when Axel took her to the dance floor, and her eyes met mine as she turned, her back against her chest.
The way her hips moved mesmerized me.
But I felt a pang of anger when I noticed Axel's hands running along the sides of her body.
I couldn't help but wonder why she was staring at me while she rubbed up against him.
I took Layla by the hand and led her to the dance floor, a spot where I could still keep an eye on Kenziefrom.
I kept my eyes on Kenzie when my hand went to Layla's throat and I kissed her.
I was immediately thrown by the memories from our past.
{PAST}
The house was full, and music blared.
It was Kenzie's twenty-first birthday.
I was watching a hot blond who had stripped down to her underwear and jumped on the table to dance when I had caught a glimpse of Kenzie running upstairs with tears smearing her face.
I knew that I shouldn't involve myself, but after a few minutes, I had given in and went to find her.
She was in the ensuite bathroom of one of the bedrooms.
Sitting on the cold tiled floor with her legs tucked under her as she cried.
"Kenz?"I dropped to my knees beside her, my hand going to her back, "What's wrong?"
She looked up at me with tears still in her eyes, "He... I found him with another woman!"
My blood boiled but I willed myself to be calm, "What?"
She nodded, wiping at her nose and eyes with the back of her hand, "I walked in on them right in the act."
I wasn't sure what to say to comfort her, I had never been very good at such things, so I pulled her against me and held her while she cried.
We stayed like that for a while before she uttered the words that finally broke my resolve.
"What's wrong with me? What do they have that makes them good enough? Why can't I be good enough?"
"Kenzie," I lifted her face to mine, "Baby, you are perfect. He's just too dumb to see it."
She shook her head, "You're just saying that."
And then I kissed her.
{PRESENT}
That kiss had spiraled everything out of control that night.
I looked over and saw her walking toward the bathrooms.
I knew I shouldn't, but the alcohol convinced me I should.
I followed her, leaving Layla to dance alone.
It was as she walked out of the bathroom that I pushed her against the wall. I was so close I could smell the hint of alcohol on her breath.
"Wyatt?"
"Do you think about it?" I asked her as I ran my hand along her arm.
I heard the gasp she tried to hide, "No."
"You're lying, "I ran my fingers up her arm, watching the skin rise, "You don't think about how I taste" My hand was at her neck now, lightly I ran my fingers against the soft skin, "Because I think about it," I admitted as I brought my face closer to her.
"Wyatt..."
"Shh. Tell me you don't think about the way I touched you," I dropped a hand to her thighs, "You know no man can fuck you the way I did."
She gasped at my words, her lips parting ever so slightly and that was all I needed.
My hand closed lightly around her throat as I brought my lips to hers.
She didn't stop me, at first. Our tongues met in a mix of fruity cocktail and whiskey.
Her hands went to my chest and it was just like that night.
But then she pushed me away, "Get away from me. This is wrong and you know it."
I grabbed hold of her wrist, keeping her in place, "Bubbles-"
"Don't!" She snapped, pulling her hand free from mine before storming off.
I wanted to argue with her but I saw Layla coming toward us so I stepped away from her and watched her go right back over to Axel.
