"Back then it was wild. Incests, lesbians and gays were burned to the stick back then. Anyone who the moon goddess had chosen was killed. Back then, they said, they slaughtered them because they believed the moon goddess was testing their faith. And famine and drought came up on the clan back then. So, with all this happening with werewolves committing Sodom. Mother's to sons and all that, they had to be destroyed. A lot of books were sold back then because of it and they made a lot of money from it. So, the clans gathered up as an army and killed all of them. Wiped them out and burnt anything relating to them.'
"That's horrible.' I muttered.
"Yes it is horrible but it brought a new era for everyone and there's peace and harmony within everyone. Which is quite the best.'
"Do you think some of them will still be alive today?!'
No wonder, Gerard doesn't want to have anything to do with me.
"I have my suspicions though. If they are a few or some of them still alive, they would probably be hidden in the dark. They wouldn't dare come out of their hiding place showing their acts before anyone. They know they will be done for. So, they will hide their sexuality from everyone and do it in secret to avoid being caught. That's my belief."
"What if you were one of them? And you find out you are fated to your sister? What would you do?!'
He hesitated for a second and looked up at the sky with a low chuckle. "I can't imagine it.'
"I know it's unimaginable. That's why I said "What if" it was possible?"
He looked at me and sighed. 'I would let her go,' he replied.
"Why? Isn't she your mate? Why would you let her go?'
"To save her life of course. I can't have anyone finding out about it. I don't want her killed because of me so I would reject her and let someone who can take care of her marry her.'
"Really?'
"Yeah," he nodded. "I wouldn't wanna risk her life, do I? So, it's better she's gone and we will both make sure our secret follows us to the grave because it's a taboo. At times, we have to stop something which could ruin our lives."
"I see.'
"Yeah, I also heard this rumour from my father about some siblings being fated to each other in some other clan.'
"Those…those people, were they ever together till the end."
"Their parents had to order their death and hang them to the stick.'
"What?'
"Yes. They had no choice.'
"Is there any way to prevent that from happening?'
"That, I don't know Oceana. I still need to go through some books. I don't know if that is right,' he sighed. "It gives me the cringe though. By the way, why are you talking about this?'
I shook my head. "No, it's nothing. I just heard some rumours and it caught my attention." I denied and acted like it was nothing to talk about.
"Well, that kind of mating is forbidden," he finally said.
"Huh." I sighed. I know so little about them, yet, I'm scared.
Terrified, I'd never in my life dream of such a thing happening, our home has always been a peaceful one but what was going on?
Why can't I have what I want? Why is Gérard my mate of all people?
I feel so devastated and downcast, why is this so difficult?
Was this what Gerard was trying to talk about?
Was this what he was avoiding from me?
How can I cope with all this? I have my mate beside me and I can't accept him because of the realms. Why does my life just keep getting unbearable?
I ran away from Adolph and went as fast as possible to the wolf's hall, that's exactly where Gérard will be.
Well, I was right.
I opened the hall and saw Gérard standing in front of my father's iron throne with both hands in his pocket.
He turned to me.
"I heard you are getting married." I spoke.
"Did I not tell you, my love?" He smiled, and my heart melted when he said those words. I ran to him and gave him a big hug. "Please, don't do this, Gérard, I beg of you."
He softly asked. "What is it, Oceana?"
"Please don't drift apart from me, I don't know what I will do.'
"I wouldn't,' he whispered.
At least, that's what I imagined in my head.
He was there in my imagination, not on my father's throne, but in my head.
I burst out crying. I am so miserable, aren't I?
He wasn't here after all and I've not seen him since we had conversed. Did he go back to England without telling me?
The next couple of days, I tried my best to keep my cool in front of everyone, walking along the path to the garden and I still haven't heard a word about Gerard, no one knows where he went to.
"Hi,' I saw a young lady cheerfully waving at me.
"Hi," I replied casually with a frown wondering who she was.
She seems like a newbie around here because you don't just approach any Alpha and say "Hi" to them if you don't know their rank in the clan…
They love being addressed by their names with respect and dignity.
"You must be the famous Alpha Oceana, I've been hearing about. My gosh, I am your biggest fan,' she squeaked with excitement.
"Yeah, right. Who are you?' I was confused.

"My name is Emily, Gérard's bride-to-be and you must be his younger sister."
I furrowed my brows and cleared my throat to show how cool I was.
Wait a second.
Gerard's fiancee. No way, she was the one.
"Okay, is there a problem? How can I help you?'
"No, there isn't,' she smiled. "I have always wanted to see you but your brothers said you were unavailable, extremely busy. I'm glad I came across you, I admire a wolf like you. You are my hero, my role model."
What is wrong with her? Why was she over excited seeing me? Did I win a lottery or is she just pretending to be my fan because she is Gerard's fiancee?
What kind of wolf is this? I don't like her aura.
"You are powerful. Filled with strength. You rescue wolves and keep up to your name. I couldn't wait to see you, Alpha Oceana."
She attempted to touch me, I immediately took a step back, covering my nose in anger.
Why is Gérard's scent on her? Why is he getting married to someone like this? How could she be within the realms? Was he sleeping with her too?

"What's wrong, Alpha?" She asked innocently, yet, I kept taking my steps back.
I was getting nauseous, and my stomach was getting upset. My heart ached terribly.
