Drawing a big smile to convince myself that I'm fine, I answer, “yes, I'm fine and very excited because I'm going to see you. Do you know how much I have wanted to see you? I've missed you so much!”
Hearing her chuckle with that emotion makes me feel a little better, “I cannot believe it! You will come to see me darling, I am very happy, very happy, when will you arrive?”
I look at the computer and the words “purchased ticket” appear on the screen, “I'll be out in a few hours, aunt. I will arrive in the early hours of morning,” I remove the cell phone from my ear because of the deafening scream that my aunt gives, “calm down, the neighbors will hear you,” I joke with her.
"You can't tell me not to yell, I'm so happy that I am going to see you. It's been two years without seeing you in person, darling, two years that you've been away from me. And you ask me not to scream?” She laughed at so much emotion on her part.
"Okay, you can yell," we both laughed, "then see you later. Now I must pack, I love you,” after saying goodbye to my aunt, I put the phone aside and rush to print the plane ticket. It is the best decision I can make. Simone is going to get mad at me, but I won't say goodbye to him, I can't say goodbye to my best friend. I know perfectly well that he will try to convince me not to leave and I cannot stay here, Yazahib didn't even fight to keep me by his side. He just let me go.
After printing the ticket, I rush to prepare my bags, I must leave as soon as possible so as not to miss the plane. When I'm ready, I write a letter and leave it on the dining room table. It's the only way I can say goodbye to my friend.
I take one last look at the apartment and with tears in my eyes, say goodbye to the only place where I have been happy since I arrived. I leave the apartment and close the door, I wipe my tears, I try not to cry but the pain is so heartbreaking that I can't help but feel suffocated by the pain my heart feels when I know I'm leaving. Once I'm out of the building, I stop a taxi that, luckily for me, stops quickly. When I am in the taxi I look out the window and see how the building that was my home for two wonderful years is moving away every second, keeping all those fun and emotional moments that I shared with Simone.
“Where am I taking you, miss?” Asked the driver.
I stop looking out the window to look at him, “to the airport please," the man nods and accelerates a little more, "shit" I growl when I realize I left the letter that Mom wrote for me that I still haven't read.
"Is something wrong, miss?"Asks the taxi driver.
I think about going back but decide not to, “no nothing happens. It's just that I thought of something,” I smile at the man and look away.
Upon arriving at the airport, the nice man helps me unload my suitcases and, giving me a huge smile, wishes me the best. I look at the airport gate and take a long sigh, I'm standing in front of the airport and I still can't believe I'm leaving and leaving it all behind. Before taking a step to enter the place I feel like someone is pulling me. I try to walk away but the person is stronger than me. They cover my mouth and put me in a truck. Scared, I try to look at them but everything is very dark, I can't see anyone, I only feel when they put the truck in gear.
My heart is pounding so hard I hear it in my ears, my breathing quickens and the urge to cry invades me. I move restlessly but I can't do anything to free myself. I want to scream, ask for help and I cannot do it, they have tied a gag in my mouth, they have blindfolded me and they hold me tightly.
"We have it," I hear a man say with a thick voice, "okay, we are on our way.” Hearing those words, the fear in me grows out of control, despair drives me crazy.
"Quiet woman, still, I don't want to hurt you," says another man with an equally thick voice. I try to speak, I try to ask them to let me go, but I can't, I can't even move. Terrified and with tears in my eyes I stay still while the men joke and laugh next to me. I cannot understand what happened, I cannot understand why I was kidnapped, I do not understand anything about what is happening, I just wanted to leave the country and leave everything behind to try to forget Yazahib and now I am here, with strangers in a truck to an address unknown.
"We're here, you take her." When I felt evacuation movements in the car, I despaired and started to move uncontrollably.
"Calm down, damn it," shouts the man who takes me in his arms. I tense up when I hear it and I freeze, I don't want him to hurt me, “good girl,” he laughs, pleased with my current stillness. I try to listen to what is happening around me, but the movements and voices that I can hear tell me nothing. I am lost and without knowing who could do something like that to me. They will kill me? Why have they kidnapped me? How did they know where I was? Could they have the wrong person? The questions along with the confusion invade me, “I need you to stay still,” he asks me as he places me on a soft and padded surface, “I will untie your hands but you cannot remove the blindfold until I get out of here,” with heavy breathing and fear through the clouds, I nod repeatedly, “okay, I'll go,” I nod again.
Hearing the door, I quickly remove the blindfold and also the gag, I rub my eyes so I can focus. Looking around me, I see a huge room painted white and gold, I am on a huge bed, it is beautiful and very comfortable. I can see a huge comb, some photos of me that I didn't know existed. That alarms me, who can have photos of me in a place that I don't even know? The door opens and I get up to go to the first door I see to hide. As I enter and turn on the light my mouth opens with exaggeration. It is a closet with a lot of women's clothes, when checking a garment, I can see that it is my size. I put my hand to my mouth to stifle a sob. What's going on here? I ask myself.
