Hearing this, Arabella relaxed and joined him on the other side of the bed, trusting his words. After all, she wasn’t some model who could get his attention.
“Good night, Ara!!”
“You won’t be able to sleep near me, Alpha. My nightmare…”
“Here, come into my arms..”
“Excuse me?”
“Come here, Ugly Duckling,” Wylder ordered, on which she glared at him first before listening to him. Her body stiffened when he wrapped his hand around his waist, and the light of the room was switched off. “Listen to my heartbeat and try to sleep, now.” He mumbled, on which she frowned but didn’t say anything because it looked like he was ready to fall asleep any moment, and she didn’t want to ruin the sleep of that person who was being nothing but nice to her.
He was the first person to treat her like a human rather than an object.
She heard his soft snore just after a minute. It looked like he was really very tired, but she was wide awake in his arms, watching her face, listening to his heartbeat and snoring sound, feeling his hot breath, and watching how his chest was rising and falling at the interval of some seconds.
Her life was already a mess, and after that, his arrival in her life was like a Knight. Was this some kind of signal?
She couldn’t understand the way her heart reacted to him.
She was taken aback when he touched her cheek, she looked up and saw his blue eyes. She couldn’t help but shudder in fear, recalling how he was running behind her like a mad wolf and then slammed her against the ground to kill her. Not to mention, his dangerous aura was not helping at all.
“Do you remember the faces of those fuckers who tortured you?” Night asked dangerously. Wylder suggested him to drop that topic for now when they hurt about her life in that hell. Wylder didn’t want her to remind those horrible memories by asking anything about them but Night being Night. He just couldn’t control himself.
He wanted to find each and every one of those bastards and give them a painful death. Not just he had to stop this trafficking but also wipe the existence of all the people involved in this directly and indirectly.
“You’re scaring me, Alpha.” She whispered in a low tone. She wouldn’t be surprised if the blue eye beast would kill her because wolves were loyal to their mate and they never allow someone else to come close to them willingly. Sometimes, they end up agreeing with the human wishes of someone else around them and sometimes, they end up killing that unwanted person.
“How? I'm pratically doing nothing." Night whispered innocently. She quickly closed her eyes in fear. Night couldn't help but whimper at her behavior. He waited for her to open her eyes and look at him, but it didn't happen anytime soon. He knew that Wylder had asked him to control his emotions, but it was damn too hard.
He leaned toward her and licked her face. Arabella opened her eyes at his strange behavior and looked at him, who was giving her the look of a lost puppy.
'Is he hurt? But why does the wolf care? Well, he was too big for a wolf.' She thought and found him licking her face again.
"You hurt me last night, remember? And I'm scared that you will hurt me again." She finally spoke in a very low tone.
"Not my fault. You invited that to yourself. I kept asking you to stop running, but you were planning to join Marathon." Night said in an accusing tone.
"Wow! You're such a jerk." She muttered, narrowing her eyes. "And when did you ask me to stop? All I remember is that you kept growling like an angry beast."
"Well, that was my way of talking. What were you expecting from me? To talk like a human in actual form." Night complained. After all, it was her talk who couldn't understand his language while she gaped at his accusation. Long story short, he meant that whatever happened to her was because of her. "And the most important part, I will never intentionally hurt you. I was just trying to stop you. I didn't realize I used more power to stop you than required until I saw you bleeding."
She didn't hear anything that he said after, 'I will never intentionally hurt you.' because her heart thudded at this sentence.
