Mercenary’s War Chapter 69

69: Chapter 68 Continue Fleeing 69: Chapter 68 Continue Fleeing Natalia and Yelena went to grab their most important belongings, like documents and money. While waiting for them, Gao Yang couldn’t help but wonder if he was cursed; all he had been doing lately was running for his life. He had fought his way out of Africa, leaving a bloody trail behind, made it back to Huaxia, and from there, fled to Russia. Now, before he even had a chance to settle down in Russia, he had to run again. Li Jinfang, however, seemed unperturbed by everything that was happening. Gao Yang thought he saw a hint of thrill in Li’s eyes and concluded that Li was a thug at heart. Gao Yang removed the magazine from his handgun and checked the bullets. Seeing five rounds left, he felt that was enough; he didn’t plan to look for more magazines. He simply shook his head at Natalia and Yelena and said, “Let’s go, what are you waiting for?” Li Jinfang also picked up a handgun from the ground and casually inserted it at the back of his waistband. He asked in a serious tone, “Where are we going?” Gao had no idea where to go. He looked towards Lao Liu, who had a dejected expression and said, “Why are you looking at me? I was only responsible for bringing you to Moscow and then putting you on a plane to Africa, but with all this happening, how would I know where to go?” Gao Yang gave an embarrassed smile and said, “Lao Liu, we’re really depending on you now. If you don’t know where to go, we’re even more clueless.” Lao Liu waved his hand feebly, his face a picture of helplessness. “I only know we need to get out of this damned place fast. As for where to go, I should ask the boss; maybe he has a solution.” As Gao Yang and the others hurried downstairs, they spotted three new sedans parked below, one of which was a brand-new Mercedes. These cars must have belonged to that vindictive fat guy and his crew. Li Jinfang immediately ran over and tried to open a car door. The door opened easily, and after peeking inside, Li Jinfang gestured for them to get in and said with a laugh, “The keys are indeed left in the car, hurry up.” Gao Yang asked curiously, “How’s your driving? Should I drive instead?” Li Jinfang did not respond to Gao Yang and jumped into the car. After starting the engine, the car roared twice, and with screeching tires, it nearly spun in place before aligning the car door straight towards Gao Yang and the others. Lao Liu sat in the passenger seat, while Gao Yang, gun in hand, kept a watchful eye on their surroundings as Natalia and Yelena got into the car. Seeing no one attracted by the gunfire, Gao too got into the car. Once Gao was in, Li Jinfang floored the accelerator, and the car shot out like an arrow from a bow, speeding away. They quickly left the dangerous neighborhood and got back on the main road. Once it seemed safe, Lao Liu finally came around. He had been scared witless by Gao Yang and Li Jinfang suddenly acting then going on a killing spree. Now realizing that there were no police chasing them nor hordes of gangsters shooting at them, Lao Liu had time to think about what to do next. Without Gao urging him, Lao Liu took out a phone, shaking his head while mumbling, “You guys have really screwed me over this time. Your East Asian faces are too noticeable; whether it’s the police or the vengeful gang, it’s too easy for them to find you. I have to call the boss. If all else fails, we might have to go back to Harbin City.” Gao Yang also felt somewhat embarrassed and offered a sheepish smile, “We just came from Harbin City, how can we go back there? Let’s try the airport, I believe you have a way.” Lao Liu’s call went through, and he shook his head, signaling to Gao Yang not to speak. After mumbling a few words, he put down the phone and said with a gloomy face, “Our boss said that no matter where you want to go, he will figure out a way. He’s willing to do anything for the wife and child of his friend. Now you can tell me where you want to go. Only then did Gao Yang remember that he wasn’t the one who had the most influence with Molotov; it was Natalia and Yelena. After all, it was through Glolov that he had managed to establish a connection with Molotov. After thinking for a while, Gao Yang said to Natalia in English, “Do you have any places in mind that you want to go to? My suggestion is that it would be best for you to leave Russia, as it’s too dangerous here. Who knows what could happen if you stay?” Natalia glanced at Yelena with some difficulty and said, “We have nowhere to go. And if we leave Russia, what about Yelena’s studies?” Before Gao Yang could speak, Yelena said, “It’s not like Russia is the only place with music conservatories. Where can’t we go to study? Besides, how should I address you?” Yelena’s last sentence was directed at Gao Yang, who then remembered that he hadn’t introduced himself yet. He quickly gave their three names and Yelena, staring at Gao Yang, asked, “Where do you plan to go? Or do you have a place to arrange for us?” “We two are going to Africa, possibly to Libya, to meet with your father. As for you, definitely not to Libya, but I can find you a place to settle in Africa first, at least it won’t be so dangerous.” Yelena immediately nodded her head and said, “Thank you so much, Mr. Wherever you go, my mom and I will follow. We entrust everything to you.” Taking Natalia and Yelena with him was not just trouble, it was big trouble, but Gao Yang simply couldn’t leave the mother and daughter behind to fend for themselves. He smiled wryly and then said to Lao Liu, “There are four of us, and anywhere is fine, as long as we can leave the country. Of course, it would be best if we could go directly to Africa.” Lao Liu sighed and said, “It’s easier to go to Africa. I’ll ask where we can get to the fastest and then make a decision.” After making a few calls, Lao Liu covered the receiver, spoke a few words to Natalia, and after Natalia nodded and said a few words, Lao Liu continued the call. Gao Yang decided that after this, he absolutely had to learn Russian. Not understanding the conversation was a terrible feeling. After Lao Liu hung up the phone, he looked at Gao Yang with a relieved expression and said, “You can go to South Africa. There’s a flight tonight, the fastest one. And both mother and daughter have passports. I just need to take your passports, and in a few hours, everything will be arranged. But this will require money.” Lao Liu held up two fingers and said, “It will take twenty thousand dollars for the four of you, the money we urgently need now, which must be paid immediately. The rest our boss said he would pay for you, consider it a gift to an old friend, so you don’t have to worry about that part.” The money Glolov had given Natalia was now with Gao Yang, and he immediately made the decision on behalf of Natalia and her daughter. Overjoyed, he said, “Thank you so much, Lao Liu, and thank your boss too. My buddy is so righteous. Where should we head to now?”
