Carrying a parcel, Davina walked down the hospital corridor. She wanted to see her best friend immediately after receiving news that Danas' condition had dropped. Davina couldn't wait to see her best friend, she was really worried because she only had time to come to see her after being informed by Jagad.
"Hopefully Danas likes it," Davina murmured as she carried the food she bought at the shop that had gone viral.
As we walked towards the room where Danas was being treated, as usual, the familiar place was filled with people. Both patients being pushed in wheelchairs, nurses who seemed busy with their business, and visitors who met their relatives. The sight had become commonplace for Davina. She had been to the place often enough to see her brother who worked as a doctor.
The scene at the hospital was actually not something pleasant to see. More people are lamenting their fate than showing positive emotions. There were people who were struggling with their illnesses. People who have lost loved ones, or even health workers who have to work overtime. You could say that one building was almost always filled with a negative vibe. Even so, Davina never hated coming there. No matter how tough the conditions were, it was a place where miracles happened.
Thanks to advanced medical science, many humans could be saved. This time too, Danas, who had fallen several times, could be saved thanks to the place and the people in the building where the woman was now.
Davina tried to act casual. She didn't want her worry to be so obvious and make Danas feel uncomfortable. She walked with regular steps and with her eyes straight ahead. At the end of the curve, she turned and found Danas' room not far from where she turned earlier.
Then, just as Davina was about to knock on the door, a familiar voice came from inside.
"... You really don't know yourself, do you? You already killed Amaira. Now you want to be a burden on our family. Remember! We don't care about you. Only the child in your womb. That's Melvin's child."
The voice sounded faint from outside, but it was loud enough to be heard by Davina who was already standing at the door. The girl could immediately realize that the voice belonged to the mother of Sarah, her late best friend.
"Aunt Aleta?" muttered Davina. Then, her hands slowly clenched into tight fists. The emotions that had been stable instantly changed when she heard the curse from the old woman.
Davina had never had any problems with Melvin's family before Sarah's death. In fact, her brother was also a close friend of Melvin. However, due to Renata's actions, Davina, who knows the truth, can no longer consider the Melvin family as the same people who used to welcome her when she came to visit.
For Davina, the people who have hurt Danas are not people who deserve to be respected. Moreover, with false accusations as well. Davina was really angry to hear Danas who was again treated inappropriately. She saw the umpteenth time Danas was treated like that.
So that her best friend would not be scolded further, Davina inhaled and exhaled slowly. She tries to calm herself so that when she enters, her face doesn't show the anger that is churning inside her right now.
Davina finally knocked on the door. After that, she pulled the doorknob and opened it. At that moment, Davina's eyes immediately fell on Aleta.
"Excuse me," Davina said, then bowed once, accompanied by a warm smile when she saw Aleta inside.
Aleta spontaneously smiled in welcome. However, not long after that, Aleta frowned.
It was a good thing Davina had come in sooner. If not, Danas might still have to listen to Aleta's long lecture.
"Davina?" Aleta still looked incredulous at the arrival of a figure who was her daughter's best friend. "Davina, how are you?" she asked cheerfully. It was as if the hate speech she had just hurled at Danas had never been uttered at all.
"'Good Aunty,' Davina replies with a smile. The girl is still trying to show good manners. Even though she didn't like Aleta's attitude, after all, the woman was the mother of her late best friend.
"It's been a while since we met, huh. Did you come to visit someone?" Aleta asked with a look of confusion on her face.
The old woman might be happy to see a familiar fig ure related to her daughter, but she had no idea the reason for her daughter's best friend's appearance.
Davina swallowed. Still smiling, she said, "Yes, Aunty. I came to see my best friend." Of course the friend she was referring to was Danas .
Aleta's expression, which welcomed Davina's arrival, instantly changed when she heard the word friend. The old woman openly showed her dislike. She did not expect that her daughter's best friend would choose to be friends with a figure she considered a murderer.
"You came to see this woman?" Aleta asked as if to make sure. She then cast a glare at Davina.
Once again Davina swallowed. "Yes," she answered briefly.
"You know that this woman killed Amaira. Auntie's daughter. Your friend. How can you be friends with someone like this?" Aleta snapped at Davina who stood silently at the door.
Davina squinted once, trying to remain calm. She then clenched her fists tightly for a moment, then released them after gaining some composure.
"What do you mean? Danas didn't do anything wrong," the woman said with a flat face.
Aleta, who heard that, could not understand. Her face then slowly turned red as her body temperature rose. Aleta was really angry when Davina said that.
"What do you mean you didn't do anything? You're so idiotic. Why would you still want to be friends with someone like him, when he's clearly Sarah's murderer?"
Aleta's widened eyes made Davina feel scared. However, the woman didn't flinch. She knew her position. She was on the right side. There was no reason for her not to recognize Danas as a friend.
"That's not true, Tante. Danas is not Sarah's killer. Wasn't the verdict of the trial clear at that time? Why do you insist on saying that Danas killed your daughter?"
Aleta spontaneously stood up from the chair she had been sitting on. Her anger had peaked. To this day, she was still not willing to let Danas off the hook for her daughter's murder. In fact, Danas was clearly at the scene when it happened. Aleta never once doubted that Danas killed Sarah.
"You don't know anything. You have betrayed Sarah by choosing this woman. I never thought you could be that kind of person," Aleta said with disappointment.
The old woman initially thought that her daughter's best friend would have the same thoughts as her. For Aleta, if Davina considered Sarah as an important figure, the woman should also hold the same grudge with her. Instead of spending time even defending Danas in front of her very eyes.

Danas shook her head. She didn't want the problem to get worse. After all, as long as Aleta didn't want to find out the real truth, it was impossible to change the old woman's mind. She didn't trust the results of the trial alone, let alone what she said. There was no point in arguing further.
Davina gritted her molars. The girl really wanted to scream to make Aleta realize. She was really upset that she was not allowed to clarify everything. Even so, Davina chose to restrain herself out of respect for Danas' decision. After all, they were in the hospital. It would not be good for them to shout at each other and disturb other patients.
Davina no longer said anything. She remained silent as she squeezed the handle of the gift she had brought for Danas. Davina chose to look down to hide the look on her face. The girl also couldn't keep looking at Aleta's challenging eyes. She might forget that she was an old man and choose to hit her.
Davina finally let out a long breath.
Danas, are you sure you want to continue like this? Do you seriously want to be treated like this forever? If it were me, I wouldn't be strong. And why is Melvin's family so stubborn? Why can't they see reality? How could someone as good as Danas commit murder? After all the time they've spent together, why don't they realize Danas' goodness?
