Marriage Prison Chapter 16

Eyes locked on each other, in Hazel's Melvin's eyes were full of emotion, he tightened his grip, as he looked at the face of the girl in front of him. "I didn't kill your sister!" "You're lying, there's clearly a witness. Why do you still lie?" Melvin was so adamant in saying that Danas had killed his brother. While Danas was still in shock, he didn't understand what Melvin was saying to him. He'd never even done anything wrong or killed anyone, and now his husband was saying that there were witnesses who saw him kill. "Witness? What witness?" asked Danas stammeringly. "Witness that you killed Amaira." "Amaira?" The name was familiar to her. Danas remembered Amaira's name, she was his best friend. "Yes, you killed Amaira. You killed my sister." Melvin reiterated. "Amaira... your sister?" asked Danas, unable to believe what she was hearing. Now she really understood the problem. Her husband was the brother of Amaira-her friend? Danas removed his hand from Melvin's wrist which had been choking him. The feelings he was feeling right now were quite difficult. Danas finally realized that the common thread between him and Melvin was Amaira. Everything that happened, the bankruptcy, and her marrying Melvin were all because of Amaira. How could she forget Amaira? The case actually made her a murderer until the judge ruled that it was not a murder but an accident. She never thought that Melvin was Amira's brother. "Why are you still asking me, when you killed her?" Danas thought for a moment. For what happened to her, she just found out that the man in front of her accused her of being Amaira's murderer. All the accusations given by the man instantly made Danas' face red, she was very upset. The reason for all the suffering was because of the untrue accusation by the man in front of her. Her hand grabbed the wrist of Melvin who was gripping Danas' jaw. "Let go of Melvin," said Danas, trying her hardest to get his burly hands off her. "I didn't kill her, I didn't kill your sister," Danas insisted when he managed to break free from Melvin. "Are you still denying it?" asked Melvin wanting to grab the girl's jaw again, but Danas dodged by retreating faster than Melvin's hand. "I don't deny it, I didn't kill anyone." "You dare to deny me after the evidence shows that you killed her?" "If I had killed him, I'd be in jail." Danas' voice raised, making Melvin want to slap the girl's face. The argument between them was getting heated. Melvin was adamant that Danas was the culprit, while the woman who was accused rejected it. "Stop lying, Danas. I clearly have witnesses to the incident, why don't you admit it? Why?" Melvin's voice could be heard filling the whole room, even the man kicked the table violently, he was really angry. The man massaged the nape of his neck. "I'm not lying, it's a fact that I didn't kill. You're saying if there's a witness who says I lied, tell me. Who? Who's the witness?" Danas was sure that there were no witnesses to the incident. "Renata. Renata was the witness, she showed me the video of you murdering Amaira," Melvin replied loudly. Hearing Renata's name, made Danas' footing seem to collapse. "How could Rena do this to me," Danas muttered softly. Instantly Danas' body drooped on the floor. She began to digest everything that happened. The thing she couldn't believe was that Renata had put her in this situation. "You three are friends, I can't believe you did that cruel thing to her." Melvin's voice sounded low, his eyes staring at Danas. "You had the heart to kill her. Killed my brother." Danas tried to stand up, staring at Melvin who was two meters away from him. His legs were too weak to stand up after knowing what had happened. "Knowing the fact that you weren't punished for what you did to my sister, it makes me angry. I'm really angry, if I wanted to kill you right now, I could do it, but unfortunately death is too easy for Amaira's killer." Danas looked at Melvin, the eyes of the man before him were completely filled with anger. "Marrying you is the most appropriate prison, making you feel how the punishment you never received for Amaira's death." Danas' chest felt tight knowing that, hands clenched tightly. It was the most painful thing for her when she had to accept something she had never done at all. The small body was standing but almost fell, fortunately, Rangga was there to prevent that from happening. No more words came out, Danas chose to leave the room. "Argh... shit," cursed Melvin while scattering things on the table, especially when he saw Danas' back out of his office. Fortunately, everyone outside the room had been asked to leave by Rangga so that no one would hear what was said or what was going to happen inside Melvin's room. Rangga wanted to chase Danas out but was intercepted by Melvin. Rangga was more worried about his boss's wife than Melvin who was raging in his office. "Let her go, you still have a lot to do at the office." Melvin prevented the assistant from following Danas. "B-but if something happens to-" "Didn't you hear what I said, Rangga? I'm your boss, not him. I'm the one paying you, not that damn girl." Rangga was silent, he didn't argue but his little heartfelt sorry for the woman. However, he also knew that the woman who looked good was the perpetrator of Melvin's sister's murder. Several times Rangga dismissed if Danas was the perpetrator of the murder but the evidence said otherwise. Danas' footsteps were so slow, down the corridor, witnessed by so many people. The hand that was resting on the stair railing tried to support her tiny body so as not to fall. She chose the emergency stairs, rather than taking the elevator. The Asian woman stopped her steps and sat down. "W-why did he make my life like this?" muttered Danas softly. There were thousands of volts of electricity that hurt her at that moment. so tight at the bottom of her heart, making her squeeze her chest. Someone was standing right behind her, watching her cry. " It's not good to cry alone in a lonely place." Danas turned her head when a voice reprimanded her. A guy in an expensive, well-tailored suit with disheveled hair was wearing glasses, one hand stuffed into his pants pocket. The handsome face of the man, the firm jaw, and the sweet smile that was shown at that moment made anyone who saw it would immediately be liked it. Danas wiped her tears. "Who are you? Why are you-"
