Marriage Prison Chapter 9

"Hei. Don't usually take a taxi. Don't you usually take the bus?,” said a woman when Danas had just gotten out of the taxi. "I didn't know you took a few days off. I even contacted you, but no connection." The girl sighed, there was a sense of relief, but her body felt broken at this time, especially when they had just arrived from Germany, and Regan had given her so much work. Dana looked back. Look who greeted him. "Ah, you, Dav." The girl with short hair neatly arranged bangs, plus pink lipstick on her lips makes the girl's face look beautiful. Davina Rahwani—his best friend. "Yes, please," the girl responded, tapping Danas on the shoulder. "Ow..." she moaned. “W-what's wrong? Why are you grinning?” "Nothing," answered Danas. The girl tried to hide that her body had bruises. “Really okay? You're different from usual, you look pale and tired." "Yes, I am doing okay. I'm sleep deprived." The short-haired girl just nodded her head. "So what happened to you? Why are you taking time off?” “Erm. T-that—” Danas was immediately confused. What should she explain to the girl who was asking her then? She wanted to tell her best friend, but she hesitated. The man she married was the man who made her family poor, and Davina knew that. Confused, Danas scratched his head, which didn't itch, making Davina's eyes widen. "Wow, what is this?" asked Davina while grabbing Danas hand. "Wedding ring? Y-you got married, and didn't invite me?” asked Davina with a hint of annoyance. Danas saw the expression on his best friend's face change, making him confused about where to explain what she was experiencing. If she did, she would have to tell what had happened to her—everything. “Um, let me explain, Dav." "Okay, I don't need your explanation. You got married, but didn't tell me, indicating that our friendship is meaningless." “N-no, you are my best friend.” "Friend? Not anymore, when you didn't tell me you were married." The emphasis on each word made Danas' heartache. Davina left her and went away. "It's not like that, Dave. I want to tell you, I want to say that I need you, at least when I'm on campus." "I'll think of a way to explain to Davina what exactly happened," he muttered as he quickened his pace. He knew it wasn't the time to think because it was already 10 o'clock, and soon class would start. He saw from a distance a man walking, making him rush to enter the classroom. A little late, she could repeat next semester. “Humph! That was close," she muttered as she entered the classroom filled with so many pairs of eyes looking at him. "You're almost late, Dan." She gave only a smile in response. She looked at Davina for a moment, but she chose not to look at him. Her best friend looked genuinely angry at her. "Dav, let me explain to you," whispered Danas, but the girl across from her seat didn't respond. Many times he tried to try to talk to his best friend but still got no response at all. “Danas Cakrawala, what have you been doing since earlier? Would you like to replace me here?” said the man in front of the class. Everyone looks at her. A strange look. What she did made everyone dislike her, making him only lower her head to look at her notebook on the table. "Sorry sir," she said slowly. "Next time, don't repeat it again or you have to leave my class and repeat next semester." Danas rolled his eyes. She couldn't possibly repeat it next semester. She struggles to finish college as soon as possible and find a job. If she repeats, then all her efforts will be in vain. Again she lowered her gaze for a moment, then looked at the lecturer, who had been staring at her coldly since earlier. "Fine sir, I won't do it again." After the class was over, everyone asked Danas, but she didn't care about all the questions she was asked. She just wanted to talk to Davina. Whispers were heard. “Dav… Dav…” Danas called, but the girl she called ignored her. "Hey, you two are enemies?" someone asked. "Just misunderstood." These few days have been tough for her, he doesn't think anything good, and when he comes home, everything will change. The house that should protect her is hell waiting for her with new things. Danas just flipped through the pages of the book he was reading. Regan's words last night made her not stop thinking about what she had done and why did her husband say he was a murderer. "What do I do?" she muttered. "Who did I kill?" she muttered again. Her thoughts were interrupted when her phone vibrated, displaying a name on it. “Regan is calling” Seeing that name on his cellphone screen suddenly made him jump in surprise, making the chair he was sitting on slide backwards. "Please do not be noisy. It's a library.” "I-I'm sorry," she said as she tidied up her book and hurriedly left. She couldn't believe she had made so many mistakes today. Hostile towards her best friend, coupled with the incident in the classroom and library, she didn't know what would happen if she returned later. Remembering Regan's face made her body stiffen with fear. On the way, Danas daydreamed, making her bump into a man. Her books were scattered everywhere. “S-sorry, I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't see you," said Danas and the person he hit simultaneously. Danas was busy with his scattered books, helped by the man he hit. "S-sorry, I'm in a hurry," Danas said apologetically. "I'm the one who should apologize," said the man as he handed a book to Danas. Danas took the book and put it at the top. “Erm. May I ask something, do you know Davina Rahwani?” Danas looked at the man who was talking to him. A man in neat clothes. Grey shirt, black drill pants, slightly dishevelled hair, sleeves up to the elbows. "Sorry, can't you hear what I'm saying?" asked the man, but there was no response from the girl in front of her. "Ah, sorry, you are deaf it seems," said the man, using sign language. “You looking for Davina?” asked Danas, who had realized from his reverie. The man nodded her head. "And I-I'm a normal person," Danas said, making the man immediately apologize. "I saw it when class was over," Danas said again. "Sorry, I have to go soon," said Danas, hurrying away from the man. Her phone vibrated continuously, displaying a name that made her so scared and she wanted to go home immediately. "Why didn't you pick up my phone?" A voice startled her. Her eyes slightly rounded with a tense body when she saw a man in the car, looking at her with a cold gaze and wanted to grab her. “I-I—” “Come in,” Regan ordered. Danas did not move from her seat but froze. How could ehe not? The man's voice so frightened her. "What are you waiting for, didn't I tell you to get in the car?"
