“Did you come here just to tell me to pay attention to Wen Xuan? To have me investigate my own doctor?” Gao Ming assumed Tang Ling could give him some useful information.
“I have things that I can’t tell you, but it doesn’t mean that other people cannot. There is a hidden resistance force in Xin Lu. You can go find them.” Tang Ling had an inscrutable smile. Gao Ming couldn’t read her real thoughts.
“A bunch of crazies and desperados.” Tang Qing stood up. Some flyers fell down from her body. However, she didn’t seem to see them as she strode past Gao Ming, “No. 2 might have chosen you, but it doesn’t mean everyone will listen to you. You have to show that you are worthy of No. 2’s inheritance?”
“How do I do that?” Gao Ming turned to her, “Kill everyone who doubts me? Or ruin Immortal Pharma’s dream lab?”
The murderous intent enveloped Tang Ling. She knew Gao Ming wasn’t just saying that. She stopped and thought about it, “First, you have to ensure you can survive in the deep-level nightmares before you have the right to explore the secrets in the dark and meet the people who can help you.”
“Are they hiding in the deep-level nightmares?”
“I’ve said too much.” Tang Qing hurriedly left. After she left the apartment, the home security system came back on. The air-conditioning returned. All the electrical stuff came ‘alive’. Gao Ming picked up the flyers and studied them, “Molten Fire Intelligent Trash Handling Centre… They are hiring operators for large machinery.” Gao Ming tried to glean more information from the flyers, but he got nothing more than the contact information and address. “Including the haunted house, I already have so many part-time jobs. What is one more?” Gao Ming wanted to figure out what Tang Ling was up to. “Perhaps Huang Yin is hiding here.”
Gao Ming was curious about the infamous criminal. There were many rumours about him on the internet. Everyone only had horrible things to say about him. He was a cunning and greedy devil. However, even those rumours couldn’t deny one thing: Huang Yin was a mad genius.
“Gao Ming?” The familiar voice came through. It still sounded weak.
“Sister Feng, do you feel better?” Gao Ming didn’t relax but focused even more. He wasn’t sure if Immortal Pharma was listening in or not.
“I’ve just reached home. I asked for your number from Tang Qing. Do you have time tonight? I wish to talk to you about being in the same group.” Bai Feng sighed, “I know how Immortal Pharma used to treat you in the past. You are related to my children’s disappearance. Trust me. I can be your aid.” Since Gao Ming didn’t reply, Bai Feng added, “I didn’t tell Immortal Pharma about what happened in the nightmare. I am not with them. I just want to find my children.”
“I’ll go find you.” After Gao Ming got Bai Feng’s address, he hung up. The sun shone on his back. His face was shrouded in the dark. “The enemy is too powerful, but I have more than enough help.”
Gao Ming soon reached his destination. Once the door opened, Gao Ming picked up a strange smell in the air. It smelled like burned plastic. The flyers said that the workplace was beautiful and unpolluted. That was clearly a lie.
The trash management centre was split into six zones. The place was huge. It included a whole valley. The old factories to the east were buildings from the previous era. The other factories were rebuilt and came with automatic equipment. Giant metallic beats handled the trash that was ejected by the city and cleansed them.
“Hey, you! Yes, you! The one not wearing a safety helmet! Stop walking forward!” A man on a tall tower shouted at Gao Ming. Soon, two guards appeared around Gao Ming. They moved very fast. They didn’t look like guards of a trash management centre. They were more professional than bank guards.
The two hauled Gao Ming to the security room. Once the door closed, a bearded middle-aged man came in carrying a helmet. The man lit a cigarette and closed the curtains. Even though it was daytime, the room was dark.
“Do you know how much danger you were in? Those large machines have no eyes. We just had an accident here last year. The victim was as old as you.” The man placed the helmet heavily on the table. “Why are you here? Are you lost? Or are you a reporter?”
Gao Ming placed the flyer on the table. “I’m here to look for a job.”
The flyer had a special meaning. Gao Ming checked on the internet. Molten Fire Trash Handling Centre had stopped hiring several years ago. Instead of a flyer, it was more like an invitation.
The man didn’t even dare to touch the flyer. He told the two guards to leave as he went to make a call. Soon, a dirty fatty entered the room. He wore glasses and looked funny. However, his exposed skin was covered in black devilish tattoos. The fat man grabbed the flyer and left.
“I’d advise you to stay here obediently.” The bearded man extinguished the cigarette, ignoring the no-smoking sign behind him. "Every year, we'd find dead bodies among the trash. Their identities would have already been taken away. We don't even know how they died."
Gao Ming smiled and said nothing.
A few minutes later, the fat guy returned to the room, grinning. The flyer was gone. "What is your name? Why are you wearing Immortal Pharma's black band?"
