Fallon POV
I feel beautiful and happy as I look in the mirror. Libby left with a wolf escort just long enough to retrieve Mother Agnes's wedding dress from her home. Libby said she felt as if someone was watching her but was not sure if their intentions were good or bad. It was odd and unsettling in a way but not too alarming. Maybe because she has a lot of wolves with her, she feels safe.
"You look beautiful," Mother Agnes says.
I took the dress, the lace, and the beautiful designs on the dress, and my heart sings with hope for our future. "I love this dress, thank you," I say.
Mother Agnes touches my long red hair. She guides me over to a chair and begins to braid my hair. "On our wedding day, your hair should be braided," Mother Agnes says.
I watch her as she slowly braids my hair. "Did you braid my mother's when she married?" I ask her. This question brings tears to Mother Agnes's eyes.
"I did braid her hair. I should have told her to run and not marry that hunter. I am sorry that I betrayed her. I was wrong. Alpha Mayhem loved her, and I should have been on her side about him, but instead, I was young and stupid myself. It is tradition to marry a hunter and reap the souls of the damned. It is tradition to protect the community, and it has to stop. It is your time to shine, Fallon," Mother Agnes says.
I watch Mother Agnes continue to braid my hair. She is enjoying this moment. "I will follow my heart Mother Agnes and so will Ryan," I say.
Mother Agnes looks up as she finishes my braids. "I know he will. Ryan is perfect for you. He loves you. When he asks you to stop the reaping, remember this moment and stop for him and for your child," Mother Agnes says.
"A child?" I ask her.
"You will have a child after you become the reaper officially. Your child will either have you as a mother, or you will abandon your child. You must choose what is more important. Make the right decision for your child. I know you have to do this now but eventually, after Umbra pays for what she did to your mother and Chaos falls, then you can leave this behind and be a mother and a wife, possibly a Luna to Ryan," Mother Agnes says.
"Ryan is not the Alpha. My father is the Alpha. Is he planning to give Ryan the pack?" I ask Mother Agnes.
Mother Agnes looks around to make sure no one is listening. "Ryan will be the Alpha, but you will have to give up reaping. Alpha Mayhem is allowing you time to avenge your mother's death and protect yourself, but he has plans for you, his daughter," Mother Agnes says.
Having me come back into his life must be a relief. Who would take over his pack if Ryan and I were not here? One of his Beta's, maybe. Any of them could do it, but he wants this for me. I would have a life with Ryan and children, a family, happiness, and no fighting.
"Maybe I should reconsider," I say.
Mother Agnes touches my shoulder. "First, kill Umbra and Chaos. That way, you and your family will be safe. Libby will help you open up your magic. Then you can be Luna," Mother Agnes says.
Mother Agnes and I talked for a while about my mother and the day she married. We talk about her affair with Alpha Mayhem and the pain she went through giving me up. When the conversation is over, and the sun is coming up, Mother Agnes and Libby walk with me out of the small cabin and to the circle of wolves to marry Ryan.
Alpha Mayhem and Ryan are waiting for me inside the circle. Wolves are facing outwards to keep a watch on anyone that could try to approach us as we marry. The gates are locked, and the pack is on guard. Mother Agnes is right. This is not the life for a family. After I kill Umbra and Chaos, I will be a wolf and love this pack. I will let someone else be the reaper.
Ryan smiles as he listens to my thoughts. This is what he truly wants. He wants a family with me. He wants us to be wolves, not reapers. He wants a quiet life. I want that too, but first, we have to kick ass.
"First, you have to say I do," Ryan says.
My father conducts the ceremony. I try not to cry, but when a single tear runs down Ryan's cheek as he pledges his love to me, I lose it. "I love you," I say as I begin my vows.
Mother Agnes and Libby are both in tears, all happy tears, as I finally have a family of my own. I have my father, my husband, Mother Agnes, and Libby.
"I do," I finally say.
Ryan touches my face so softly and pulls me into him as he takes my mouth and kisses me. I feel the most amazing surge of electricity between us. Our mate bond is sealed. There is no one for either of us, and this bond cannot be broken, not even in death. We are destined to be together always.
"Ryan, you will be the next Alpha," Alpha Mayhem says.
Ryan looks at Alpha Mayhem and then at me. We knew it was a possibility, but we were not sure how or when it would happen.
"Settle your business, and then the two of you come home," Alpha Mayhem says.
"Are you okay with this?" Ryan asks me.
I nod my head and smile. "You are my future. I will be your Luna," I say.
"I accept," Ryan says.
"Why are you two standing around? Go enjoy yourselves! The day is yours," Alpha Mayhem says.
Ryan picks me up and carries me away from the crowd. "I love you," I say as I kiss his lips.
"I love you too," Ryan says.
"Aren't the two of you cute?" Chaos calls out from behind us.
"Ryan!" I scream as Chaos attacks.
