Fallon POV
"What do you want?" I scream at Grace.
Libby pushes me behind her. Ryan has left to run off some steam, and it is only us here. I wish Ryan were here.
"We don't need him. We are okay," Libby says, reading my body language and anxiety.
"She is right, you know. We do not need your husband, Ryan. Now the three girls can have a little chat about the reaping and who and how this will happen," Grace says.
Grace moves faster now than earlier. I have no idea why she appears so mechanical or wicked, but something is different with her. I do not like it, and neither does Libby.
"What do you want?" I ask Grace again.
Libby and I keep backing further into the house. Grace follows us. Why are all these people so damn crazy here. Maybe Ryan and I should get away from here, no, I want my family, and I am going to have it.
"I want Libby to take up the reaping finally, but first, you have to die to secure her place," Grace says.
Libby begins to scream as Grace charges toward me. "She is giving me her place, and you will not touch her," Libby screams.
Libby steps in front of the charging Grace as Grace comes for me. The two of them begin to fight. I step in, and one of them strikes me hard in the face. I go to the ground, spitting blood. I feel a strong arm grab me and pull me to my feet. Ryan is back.
Ryan grabs Libby and puts her behind him with me. "You two get out of here," Ryan demands.
We do not wait to see what happens. I know Ryan can handle Grace. At least, I hope so. Libby and I make a run for the pack house. We need wolves and my father, Alpha Mayhem, to settle this.
I shift into my wolf and make a run for it. Libby is behind me, moving as fast as her magic will allow. My father must have heard my distress, and he is rushing toward me quickly.
"Ryan is in the house with Grace," I say, growling.
"Mother Agnes is at the pack house. She is hurt but concerned for you both," Alpha Mayhem says.
Libby and I make our way to the pack house to care for Mother Agnes. I can hear Ryan in my mind. He has put Grace down, at least for a moment. I can hear him breathing, and then my father comes in. They both subdue her. I stop listening after Grace is in custody, so to speak.
"I think we are okay," I say to Libby.
Mother Agnes is asleep in the pack house. Two pack doctors and a nurse are with her. "She will survive, but she is in bad shape. She needs rest. Can one of you stay with her?" the pack doctor asks us.
Libby steps forward. "I will take care of her. Fallon should be with her husband," Libby says.
Crane joins us with Mother Agnes. "Is Grace causing issues?" Crane asks.
Libby nods her head. "As always," Libby says.
Crane does not seem surprised at all. I guess I am not the only one with a messed up family. "Go check on Alpha Mayhem and Ryan. Crane and I will keep an eye on Mother Agnes," Libby says.
"Okay," I respond.
I leave the pack house, shifting into my wolf as soon as I am out the door. I need to get to Ryan quickly. I want to make sure Ryan and my father are okay. I know they both are, but I need to see it with my two eyes, not just hear it in our mind link.
I approach our house, and it seems quiet enough. I go to the front door. I shift back into my human form. Ryan is waiting for me.
"Your father took Grace to confinement, so it is just us here, all alone," Ryan says. He reaches out and touches my hair, running his fingers through it softly.
"Good, my father, seeing me after I shift is not on my to do list today, but you, my sweet husband, can look all you want," I tease Ryan.
I walk past Ryan and head into the house. "Shower?" I ask him.
"Yes, sounds like fun," Ryan says.
One moment just one with Ryan all alone, the two of us, with no one trying to kill me or barge into our home. Ryan pulls me close to him and kisses me. Our tongues begin to dance over one another, and he feels so perfect. I want to be with him and start our family soon. I cannot wait any longer.
"I want to give it up now," I say.
Ryan looks into my eyes and smiles. "I know you want to start a family now," he says.
"Don't you?" I ask him.
"Soon. Can I have some time with you first?" Ryan asks.
"Okay, I will give you six months; then it's open season to breed," I joke to him.
"Deal," Ryan says.
He picks me up to carry me to the shower. I smile at him as he carries my naked body to the shower to make love to me. I am so happy at this moment.
Something slams into Ryan and me. I fall to the ground. I can hear Ryan fighting with someone, and then something grabs me. No, NO, NO!!! I scream for it to let go of me. "Let me go!" I scream.
I try to see Ryan, but my eyes are not working, and then everything fades to black. I can hear, but I cannot see anything.
"Get her. We have to hurry before Alpha Mayhem gets back," the male voice says, instructing someone to pick me up.
"She is waiting for her. It is time to die, Fallon," the voice says.
I feel a fingernail touch my face, and then I feel something touch my hip. "Night, Night," the voice says.
