Fallon POV
Ryan sets me down and pushes me behind him to protect me. "You think you are strong enough to defeat me," Chaos howls at Ryan.
"Run, Fallon," Ryan screams at me.
"I will not leave you," I say. I stand beside Ryan, ready to fight. Surely, my father's pack will hear the howling and come to help.
We do not need help, and you can take him down quickly. Use your magic. Ryan is in my head. He doesn't want me to run, but he wants Chaos to think I am running away.
I run in the opposite direction until I am deep in the woods. I can hear Ryan and Chaos fighting. I wait until Chaos is not thinking of me. I want all of his attention on Ryan. I feel a hand touch my shoulder. I look behind me to see Alpha Mayhem and several wolves.
"We are going in, and you stay here, Fallon," Alpha Mayhem instructs me.
I protest. This upsets me. Why does everyone still treat me like a child? "I can take Chaos down. I am not a child!" I argue.
"Rush Chaos!" Alpha Mayhem instructs his wolves. "I know you can take him out, but I do not want to risk you getting killed on your wedding day or any day. If something happened to you today, Ryan would never recover, and this pack would fall apart," Alpha Mayhem explains to me gently. I know he wants to protect me, but at some point, everyone has to let me grow up.
I nod my head in understanding. Do I agree with him? No, but I understand what he is saying. There will be a time for me to avenge my mother and my adopted parents by killing Umbra, but I cannot give Ryan the chance to take me out.
Alpha Mayhem shifts and turns to run toward the battle. "I know you are strong. We all know it, but allow us to protect you. You are the future of this pack. You will carry the future Alpha. I need you to live," Alpha Mayhem says.
Alpha Mayhem rushes into battle behind his wolves. I do not look. I stay back and allow my husband and father to take Chaos out. If the ancestors do not get involved, maybe this time, Alpha Mayhem or Ryan will kill Chaos.
"Some wedding," Libby says from behind me.
"Yep, lots of drama and fighting. At least the ceremony was beautiful," I say, smiling.
Libby pulls me into her arms. "I love you, Fallon. You do not have to wait for them. You can take Chaos out from here. Use your magic and disarm him. Put Chaos on his knees and force him to bend to your will," Libby says.
"How?" I ask her.
"Close your eyes and concentrate on the battle, see the battle, see Chaos, see Alpha Mayhem, see the wolves. Now concentrate on Chaos. Disarms him, send him to his knees, NOW!" Libby instructs me.
I can see Chaos going to his knees and unable to move. The fighting stops as Chaos screams out in pain. "Make her stop!" Chaos yells.
I come out of the woods, still concentrating on Chaos, with Libby behind me, following me, helping me take Chaos down. "Make her stop!" Chaos yells again, begging for the pain to stop.
Snap! Chaos's arm breaks, and he screams out in pain. Snap! His other arm breaks. Chaos is leaning forward with both arms broken. "Make her stop!" Chaos screams.
I move closer. I want to kill him myself. "Allow me this," I demand. I take a sword from one of the pack security. I hold it over me. "For my mother!" I scream as I release the sword into Chaos. Chaos screams out in pain. I let go of the sword and turn to face Alpha Mayhem.
"You can finish him," I say.
Chaos leans over on the ground, both arms broken, and leaning on the sword. He is dying. "You bitch! You are on the wrong side of this. The wolves are the real enemies," Chaos says.
I stop looking at him. "You are a wolf, and you are my enemy," I say.
He is trying to get inside my head like Bruce did. I stop and listen to Chaos. I try to use my magic to hear what is going on inside Chaos's head. I can see the others and Umbra. They are planning something. They are planning to kill my father's pack and take me hostage.
"You will never see it through!" I scream at him. I shift into my wolf and attack Chaos. He is not dying quick enough for me. "DIE!" I howl.
Alpha Mayhem and Ryan pull me off of Chaos. "Stop, he is dead," Alpha Mayhem says to me. I back down and stay close to my husband. I am breathing heavily and full of adrenaline.
Something strange begins to happen. Chaos is dead, but something lingers around him. What is that? We can hear distant howling. What is that? I shake my head trying to get the howls out.
"It is the reapers, they want his soul damned to hell," Ryan says.
Alpha Mayhem looks at me. "It is up to you to send him to hell," Alpha Mayhem says.
I did not send Bruce, why do I have to send Chaos? Maybe Bruce did not go to the darkness since he was good at one point. He just lost his way.
"Okay, how?" I ask.
"Use your magic. Imagine the dark wolves coming for him and taking him into the pits of hell. They will do the rest," Ryan says.
I close my eyes and see the pit of black darkness and the souls of the damned. I imagine the wolves coming for Chaos. The wind blows hard around us and the night engulfs us as the dark wolves come for Chaos.
Even though he is dead, Chaos opens his eyes and screams as the dark wolves drag him into the dark pit. "I did it," I say as I watch Chaos scream.
