I didn't know what I was doing at that time. All I know was that I am having a good time with Wade; but should I be doing this? I thought to myself. I should be avoiding him, right? But how am I supposed to do that when he kept on coming to me? I sighed as I look at him who was walking towards me. He took some drinks for us and I can see how women around turned their eyes on him; quite a head-turner.
He sat beside me and offered me a glass of orange juice. I wanted some alcoholic drinks but he said I can only have juice for now. I didn't argue more; I also think that I can't handle the alcohol this time.
"Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome," He said. "Aren't you cold?"
"No, I'm not," I said. I saw that the sun was about to set. It was a wonderful view and it also means that I have been in the pool for quite a while now. "It's beautiful,"
"Yeah, very beautiful," He said. I turned to him and he was looking at me. What does he mean by that? My heart has been beating fast and there is a feeling that I cannot explain. I need to sort things out. It shouldn't be like this; I shouldn't be with him and do stuff like this.
"I think I am going back to the room now," I said, trying to change the topic. I cannot let him affect me this much. I need to control my feelings for him. I am scared that I might not be able to resist him.
"I thought you wanted to swim more," He said.
"Nah, I feel tired already," I said as I stood up and wore my robe. "I'll go ahead."
"Wait," He said as he put down his drinks. "I'll come with you."
"No, you can stay," I said and hurriedly walked out of there. "I can manage on my own."
I walked as fast as I could and reached the elevator. What the hell is happening to me? I shouldn't be associating myself with him like that again. We are over! I stepped inside and just as it was about to close, Wade came in. I sighed. He pressed the top floor button and settled beside me.
"What is it? Did I say something wrong?" He said.
"N-no," I said. "I am really just exhausted."
"I know you," He said. "So can you just please tell me what it is?"
"I said nothing, okay?" I said a bit defensive.
"Cami, please-" He said but I cut him off.
"Why are you doing this?" I said. He wants the truth so I would give it to him.
"Doing what? What do you mean?" He said.
"Damn it, Wade! Why are you doing this to me? We're over, okay? Why do you still keep on acting like everything's alright?" I said as tears ran down my cheeks.
"Because I wanted it to be! Okay? I want us to be okay Cam!" He said. "I love you and that is the truth!"
"What?" I said. "I don't believe you!"
"Why?" He said as he faced me. I moved backward until I felt the cold wall on my back. He wiped the tears off my face gently. "Are you afraid that I might hurt you again? No Cami, I won't ever do that to you. You mean the world to me, okay? I can't lose you so please let's fix this. I love you, babe."
"No, Wade," I said. My tears were nonstop and I can't do anything about it. "Stop playing games with my heart; you won already."
"Look at me," He said as he cupped my face. I could see and feel how sincere he was. "I am not playing games with you, okay? I am dead serious here. Can we talk about our issues calmly so we can settle things?"
Should I give in to him? What if he'll just lie to me again? I cannot handle heartbreak from him if ever that happens again.
"Alright," I said. "I'll give you time to explain your side of the story but I cannot assure you that we'll be getting back together. Let's just clear the air around us and see what will happen."
"Yes!" He said as he hugged me. "That is more than enough for me; thank you."
The elevator door opened and we were already on the top floor. Wade was still hugging me so tight that I almost couldn't breathe.
"We're here," I said.
He let go of me and turned to the door. "I'm sorry; let's go?"
I nodded and followed him to his room. He opened the door and let me in first. I knew that he would take the most expensive room in this hotel so I wasn't surprised when I saw how beautiful it was but then again he is a CEO of a huge company; he should only be given the best service there is.
"Did you like it?" He said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Good," He said.
"We can talk over dinner later," I said. "If that's fine with you,"
"Of course!" He said. "Which bed do you want?" I saw two queen-sized beds in his room and it looks like he still hasn't used any of them yet.
"Whichever is fine," I said. I looked around and saw that all my things were already there.
"Alright, you can take the one next to the window." He said and I nodded. It was a good spot; I can see the lights from outside the hotel and they looked amazing. I can also see the lamp lights at the shore not too far from the building.
"I just have to make some phone calls and then I'll reserve us a table at the resto downstairs, would that be fine?" He said.
"Alright," I said as I took some clothes and went to the bathroom. "I'll just take a shower,"
He nodded and I walked directly to the bathroom. I turned to him and he was watching me. "What?"
He cleared his throat. "Nothing," He said and motioned to the door.
I entered the bathroom and left him there. As soon as I closed the doors, I immediately took a deep breath. Is what I'm doing right? Should I be giving him a chance? It's just going to be a talk, Cami, I thought to myself. So what if I forgive him now? It doesn't necessarily mean that I am going to jump into a relationship with him again. I just want to give him a chance and hear his side, that's all. If I don't like his explanations then I won't accept them. I just have to give him a chance to prove to me that he is still a good man after all and that he only did that at the time when he still has no feelings for me; that is if what he's saying that he loves me is true.
