Jessica took her children to meet her parents. The kids were very excited to be there. Gabby especially couldn't keep calm at all. He was too energetic, and Jessica was almost frightened for her parents.
"Gabby, keep calm." She scolded lightly. "If you don't, I will tell the cab man to turn back."
The threat had the little boy calm down immediately. He zipped his lips. Jessica relaxed in her seat. Only for him to get excited again, and not even up to five minutes later. This time, Jessica ignored him.
When they arrived, she helped them get down from the cab, and before she could turn, they were already running towards the entrance. Mrs. Graves was there. She had come to grab something from a shelf by the corner when she noticed a vehicle parked before the yard. She stopped to see who it was, and when she saw Jessica alight, a smile spread across her face.
"Honey!" She called. "Jessica is here with the twins." The news had Mr. Graves running down in an instant. He was equally excited to meet his princess and her kids.
"Jess!" Mrs. Graves spread her arms wide open for a hug. Jessica sheepishly walked into her mother's arms. Not minding the look on her children's faces.
"Abby, Gabby, meet grandma." She introduced. Gabby walked towards Mrs. Graves and waved enthusiastically.
"Hello, Grandma." He greeted. Abby followed his drama. Jessica rolled her eyes at them. The children were always dramatic.
"Why, hello there cuties! How have you been?" Mrs. Graves asked, squatting to their level. Abby placed her palm on one side of her face, and Gabby did the same to the other side. Mrs. Graves let out a warm smile. Being held by her grandchildren was a thing of pure bliss for her.
"Where is dad?" Jessica asked, looking around.
"I'm here princess!" Mr. Graves answered as he rounded the corner. "Come give dad a hug!" He urged. Jessica did so. Abby followed after her, and immediately she broke free from the hug, Abby rushed Mr. Graves with a hug as well.
"Dad, meet Abby. Abby, say hi to your grandpa." Jessica introduced.
"Hi, grandpa." Abby greeted sweetly. Mr. Graves hoisted the girl up to his shoulder. "Well aren't you a little weighty? You seem to have been fed so well, princess!" Jessica scowled at him. Wasn't he the same person who said she was always going to be his princess? Why then did he switch when he saw her daughter? She turned to her mother for support, but she found her snuggling with Gabby. Surrendering, she turned around. The maid was standing by the corner.
"Good day ma'am." The lady greeted her. Jessica smiled in return.
"Hello there. What is your name?"
"Julie, ma'am."
"Oh alright." She turned back to her mother who finally gave her a little attention.
"Are you guys hungry?" Mrs. Graves asked.
"Uhm, no. We ate before coming. Let them go out and play, let's have a little discussion." Jessica suggested. Julie opted to take them out to play, giving the adults the freedom to have their discussion without any disturbance.
"Jess, they are so adorable!" Mrs. Graves said as they watched the kids run out of the house with Julie. "I can't even say who's cuter!"
"It's difficult to tell." Mr. Graves agreed. "Especially since the girl has his mother's eyes, but the boy is a replica of her father."
Jessica chuckled lightly. "Dad, about the company." She said, changing the subject instantly.
"C'mon girl, you just arrived. Let loose a bit. The company isn't running away, we could always discuss it later on." Mr. Graves replied. Jessica surrendered instantly.
"So, what are your plans concerning their schooling?" Mrs. Graves asked. "You know they have to take the entrance examination before being admitted."
"But I already got the transfer papers from their previous school." Jessica reasoned.
"Yeah, but they would still need the entrance examination. The only difference is you don't have to pay for it now. It's as if they're already admitted to the school." She explained.
"And they just probably want to test their IQ." Mr. Graves added. Jessica nodded in understanding. If it was for that, she wasn't bothered in the least. Her kids were very smart, and sometimes she got jealous of them. While they were still discussing, Gabby ran past them towards the kitchen.
Jessica sighed. "Gabby quit running! Walk carefully, and what are you doing in here anyway?"
"I just want some water." He called out from the kitchen. In no time, Abby ran past as well. Julie jogged behind them. They seemed to be giving her a tough time.
"Tough time?" Jessica asked knowingly.
"Well, it's refreshing to have such energetic kids around," Julie replied respectfully. Jessica nodded. She wasn't going to comment. "C'mon, let's go back out if you're done." The kids followed her back outside.
All the while, her parents' gaze was upon the children as they moved. They didn't seem to behave much like Jessica. That meant they behaved more like Edwin.
"They look so much like their father." Mrs. Graves commented. Jessica put her face down. Could they not bring up Edwin Turner?
"Yeah." Mr. Graves agreed. "Gabby just has his energy!"
"Are you going to tell him?" Her mother asked softly.
Jessica's eyes went wide open. "No. I'm not telling him anything. Mom, I came here for a reason, and I'm not going to lose my focus."
"I just feel like, perhaps... Maybe, somehow, he deserves to know. Even if he doesn't get them, he deserves to know he has kids somewhere." She shrugged.
"Well, I don't think or feel so, mom. I'm content with my kids, we don't need their father." Jessica stated confidently. Mrs. Graves shrugged. Mr..graves resigned as well. They would support whatever decision Jessica makes.
Unknown to them, a little green-eyed boy had his ears against the door, listening to grown up talks. He had a father. He was happy to learn about that. Now, he wanted to see what his father looked like.
